Probation For Lottery Winner Who Continued To Collect Food Stamps

Remember the Michigan woman who was charged with fraud because she continued to collect welfare and food stamps even after she won the lottery? Well, a decision has been reached in the case and she has been sentenced to six months' probation.

  1. They need to change the rules concerning those on public assistance who happen to win any lottery:

    FIRST: Any amounts received from public assistance from the PAST 3 YEARS should be deducted from any lottery winnings.

    SECOND: Anyone who accepts lottery winnings must forfeit eligibility for any public assistance for at least the NEXT 3 YEARS or more, depending on the amounts of the payouts. Large payouts should include a waiver of eligibility for any assistance for life.

    THIRD: Violations of these terms would forfeit any remaining annuity lottery payouts.
