Thanks Mayor Ireton & Chiefy Webster For Standing Up For Prisoners

As if things weren't bad enough for municipalities throughout the state of Maryland, it's about to get worse!

While many Sheriff's Deputies will take an average pay cut of around $80.00 per paycheck, GUESS WHO'S GETTING RAISES! If you guessed prisoners, you'd be 100% correct.

That's right. While Mayor Ireton and Chiefy Webster were in Annapolis fighting for prisoners rights yesterday, it was announced that ALL prisoners in the state of Maryland would get a 10% PAY INCREASE.

People are losing their jobs left and right, taking pay cuts, barely making ends meet, this dipsh!t Governor and all the wet pants liberals have secured a 10% pay increase for the people who caused the most trouble and were probably the biggest expense to the taxpayers all around.

So why haven't you seen this information in the MSM. Because Blogs are taking over and the MSM wants to feed you the soft, pampered and fluffy news, just the way the liberals like it. Then when they do feed you so called investigative news, (like the Debbie Campbell/video tape story) they simply twist the info and lie in order to make it look like they're actually working.

In the mean time, contact your Mayors, County Executives, Delegates, Senators and Congressmen and let them know just how much you appreciate their service to the Law Abiding Taxpayers who pay the taxes for these pay increases.

So stop the presses Daily Times. Make some phone calls and you'll find I'm exactly right and see if you have the time to present this story, since people do pay money for your daily newspaper. Consider this one a freebie from Salisbury News. Then again, it is 7:00, (or close to it) and we may have to wait another two or three days before you publish something. That's OK, we're used to it.

So how many County Employees, Police Officers, Firefighters are OK with this???????

More Budget Cuts Coming Soon?

Two weeks after he won approval for more than $700 million in cuts to close a widening budget gap, Gov. Martin O'Malley told reporters yesterday that "it wouldn't surprise me if we had another one hundred, two hundred million to cut." O'Malley said the estimate's based on discussion with his budget staff and reading of the economy. He's set to get an update on state revenue projections next week. The Post's John Wagner writes that the governor said he had no advance knowledge of what the panel will report.

Rep. Kratovil Meets With Local Republican Club In Severna Park

Discusses bi-partisan approach to health care reform and other national priorities.

Washington, DC
– Congressman Frank Kratovil accepted the invitation of the Elephant Club of Severna Park, MD this morning and spoke at their weekly “Bagels and Donuts,” club meeting. The Congressman gave the group a brief Washington Update, took questions from club members, and talked about how Americans can work together despite party affiliation to make progress on many of our national priorities.

“It really takes an open mind for people who may not always agree with each other to sit down and talk about our common goals and how we can move this country forward in a bi-partisan manner,” Rep. Kratovil told the club. “It’s in the spirit of this diverse district that you have done so and your invitation represents to me the independence citizens of our district have always exhibited.”

The meeting focused mainly on the current health care reform legislation before Congress, and Congressman Kratovil reiterated his belief that the most important aspects of reform are bringing stability and security to Americans who have insurance today, and affordable coverage to those who don’t. “It is now a matter of crafting a bill that accomplishes these two critical reforms,” Kratovil said.

Kratovil told the club that “to do this, any bill must reduce the cost curve, it must protect the small business owners at the foundation of our economy, it must have parity for rural communities that are facing unique needs, and it must ensure that anyone or family who currently has insurance will be able to keep that insurance if they so choose. I will not vote for legislation that I do not believe accomplishes these goals.”

Kratovil and club members also discussed the need to reduce deficit spending for future generations, increasing reimbursement rates for doctors in Maryland, and the current state of the economy among other things.

The Elephant Club is a local party organization chartered by the Republican State Central Committee of Arundel County.

Kratovil closed by telling club members “I truly believe that when we work together we put ourselves in the best position to make change for the better. That is why I believe that no one party in this country has a monopoly on good ideas. As Congress gets back to work after the August recess, I’m hopeful that leaders on both sides of the aisle will seize this opportunity to re-engage in a meaningful and substantive debate over the challenges facing our nation.”

Kratovil, a member of the Blue Dog Coalition of fiscally conservative Democrats, has the third most independent voting record in the Democratic Caucus, according to Congressional Quarterly’s presidential support scorecard.

CALLING ALL PRAYER WARRIORS!

Monday 9/7 Transplant Day +17: Happy Labor Day and Happy Birthday to Uncle Johnny. Brooke was very excited to decorate our room to surprise Uncle Johnny this morning. She has pretty much missed all of her friend’s and family’s birthdays this year (which has been tough because she loves a party) so it was nice for her to be able to celebrate something.

Tuesday 9/8 Transplant Day +18: Brooke had a very restless night sleep. Had OT with Erin this morning but did not cooperate much. She complained of stomach pain pretty much all day. Hasn’t had much energy. Not eating anything but drank her minimum fluid goal for the day of 6oz. This is her third straight day of not needing a platelet transfusion which is a good sign. I hope and pray that she starts feeling better soon. She has her heart set on going home Thursday but I’m really starting wonder if she is ready. Its scary enough taking her home but so much more stressful when she is not feeling herself.

Wednesday 9/10 Transplant Day +19: Brooke was still complaining of stomach pain all morning (they think that it is from not eating for so long). Had PT this morning but was not cooperating at all (may get PT at home). She seemed to be feeling better by the afternoon (her mood was much better anyway). She ate some ice cream & a small amount of yogurt today but was a little shy of her fluid goal.

Tomorrow is a big day for all of us. Aside from the obvious of getting to go home, Brooke will be having an MIBG Scan in the morning. This scan detects the presence of Neuroblastoma in the body. As I sat and watched the monitor for her 1st MIBG scan back in January I remember the horror as I saw her entire skeleton light up like a Christmas tree indicating that the cancer had invaded every bone in her body. It was completely devastating. How could my baby’s body have this much cancer in it and how could we not know…mind numbing. Her next MIBG was after the 2nd round of chemo to see if she was responding to treatment. Watching that scan was just as terrifying as once again her whole skeleton lit up (but our doctor comforted us by pointing out that yes it was still everywhere, but not as intense as it was originally). Her last MIBG was after round 5 (in May) and as I watched and saw that there were still areas lighting up, my fear started coming back until I talked to our doc afterwards and he told me that there are areas that will light up that have nothing to do with NB. It turned out that all the areas I was concerned about wound up being the things that always light up, however there were still 3 areas of concern. NB showed up, very minimally but none the less still there, in her skull and the tops of each femur. The doctors were very pleased with the results but as parents we were very concerned (we had hoped and prayed that she would be going into her transplants with no evidence of disease like so many of the other kids that we have met here) but at least she would still be getting her 6th round of chemo plus the 2 high dose rounds during transplant so we have tried to stay optimistic. It is essential that this scan comes back clear of neuroblastoma (at least in our minds). Yes, she still has radiation to go though but I am scared that if after all this chemo it still remains we might never here the words No Evidence of Disease.

Please, I beg of everyone reading this, to please pray like you have never prayed before that these scans come back totally clean (no question about it). She will still need to get another bone marrow biopsy (which also showed prior to transplant that there looked to be some NB activity in the marrow). She will be going down for her scan at 9:00am(Thurs morning) and it should take about 45 minutes. We need every prayer warrior out there on this one!

Thank you so much and blessings to all,

Amy

Rule Of Law (Part 2)

"[W]here is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation deserts the oaths...?" --George Washington

Publisher's Note: This essay is the second of a two-part seminal treatise on Constitutional Rule of Law in advance of Constitution Day, 17 September, the 222nd anniversary of our national Constitution. (Read part one, Rule of Law.) The combined essay is published as the forward to our new Constitution booklets. On Constitution Day, The Patriot will announce a major education initiative promoting the Right construction of our Constitution and Rule of Law.

A "Wall of Separation"?

George Washington wrote in his Farewell Address of 1796, "Let it simply be asked where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation deserts the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in the Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the opposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that National morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

Our Founders affirmed that the natural rights enumerated in our Declaration of Independence and, by extension, as codified in its subordinate guidance, our Constitution, are those endowed by our Creator.

Thomas Jefferson proclaimed, "The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time. ... Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever."

Alexander Hamilton insisted, "The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records. They are written, as with a sun beam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power."

"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness..." These are natural rights -- gifts from God, not government.

Moreover, it was with firm regard to this fact that our Constitution was written and ratified "in order secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity." As such, it established a constitutional republic ruled by laws based on natural rights, not rights allocated by governments or those occupying seats of power.

John Quincy Adams wrote, "Our political way of life is by the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God, and of course presupposes the existence of God, the moral ruler of the universe, and a rule of right and wrong, of just and unjust, binding upon man, preceding all institutions of human society and government."

Notably, the conviction that our rights are innately bestowed by "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God," is enumerated in the preambles of every state constitution of our Union.

But, for many decades, those who advocate a "living constitution" have used the "despotic branch" to remove faith from every public quarter, ironically and erroneously citing the "Wall of Separation" metaphor -- words that Jefferson wrote to denote the barrier between federal and state governments, not to erect a prohibition against faith expression in any and all public venues.

The intended consequence of this artificial barrier between church and state is to remove the unmistakable influence of our Creator from all public forums, particularly government education institutions, and thus, over time, to disabuse belief in a sovereign God and the notion of natural rights. This erosion of knowledge about the origin of our rights, the very foundation of our country and basis of our Constitution, has dire implications for the future of liberty.

A republic ... if you can keep it...

Campbell Responds to Political Attacks

Salisbury City Councilwoman Debbie Campbell held a press conference this afternoon to respond to the baseless, manufactured, charges lobbed at her by political detractors:

“In an attempt to put some of this foolishness to rest, I am here today to answer questions regarding this matter. I have decided to stand up for myself and refute the false accusations and half-truths that the Daily Times feels are worthy of multiple front page stories. I am confident that my answers will allow the public to gain a better understanding of the lengths to which some groups will go to avoid honest, civil debate AND to prevent meaningful change for Salisbury and her citizens.”

Campbell responded to false allegations that she was in possession of a surveillance by categorically stating:

“I do not have this surveillance tape in my possession. I have never seen this tape. I do not even know that such a tape exists.”

Campbell attributed these malicious and fabricated attacks to a desire to intimidate her and put a stop to positive change for Salisbury and her citizens:

“Are we getting close enough to substantive, positive change in Salisbury that those who oppose reform have nothing left but to resort to these types of attacks?”

Today, Laura D'Alessandro of the Daily Times contacted Campbell and accused her of lying and criminal conduct. Campbell responded to the allegation:

“According to her (D'Alessandro), Mark Tyler of the Salisbury Police Department claims to have handed over the tape to me. Let me be perfectly clear about this. Mark Tyler never gave me any tape at any time whatsoever. I have not seen the April 3, 2009 memo in which Capt. Tyler allegedly makes the statement, though my attorney has requested a copy from the reporter. Because I have not seen the memo, or heard Capt. Tyler make such a statement, I can only hope that the reporter is mistaken, or has misinterpreted the memo, because it would have very, very serious implications if a member of the police department misrepresented the truth concerning an investigation or official police matter.”

Campbell, serving her second term as a Salisbury council member and representing District 2, was re-elected by a 2 – to – 1 margin this past spring. During her tenure on council she has been a relentless advocate for her constituents, particularly in the areas of crime, neighborhood blight, lower taxes, and financial accountability.

Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Press Release

Incident: Pursuit
Date of Incident: 7 September 2009
Location: Wicomico County, MD
Suspect: Timothy Ketterman Pusey, 22, Snow Hill, MD

Narrative: On 7 September 2009
at 10:48 PM, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office received information that a Berlin Police officer was attempting to stop a vehicle that was heading at a high rate of speed towards Wicomico County. The vehicle managed to elude the Berlin office but was spotted a short time later by WCSO personnel on Mt. Hermon Road in Salisbury. The WCSO deputy ascertained that the vehicle was the same one that had eluded Berlin Police and also attempted to stop it. Instead of stopping the vehicle operator accelerated the vehicle and headed towards Salisbury. WCSO personnel followed in an attempt to get the vehicle to stop. Instead, the operator exceeded all speed limits and disregarded stop signs and traffic signals. Twice, the operator of the fleeing vehicle tried to ram a law enforcement vehicle, one almost head on, but the law enforcement personnel managed to avoid a collision both times. The fleeing vehicle eventually made it to the Rt. 13 bypass where it headed south from Ocean Gateway. Upon reaching the Snow Hill Road exit, the fleeing vehicle turned around, headed north and exited on Ocean Gateway. At one point during this incident, the vehicle turned off its headlights in an attempt to avoid being seen by pursuing deputies.

The pursuit was terminated after the fleeing vehicle ran over a set of stop sticks deployed in the intersection of Ocean Gateway and Hobbs Road, which caused the vehicle’s tires to deflate. The driver, identified as Timothy Ketterman Pusey was then taken into custody after a brief struggle, wherein he refused to submit to the arrest.

At the conclusion of the incident, it was determined that Timothy Ketterman Pusey’s driver’s license was suspended and he made statements declaring that is what made him flee from the law enforcement personnel.
Timothy Ketterman Pusey was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, he was detained in the Detention Center on $50,000.00 bond.

HAS COMEGYS BECOME AN OBAMANISTA?

Do you recall the mantra “share the wealth” from the recent presidential campaign? It’s a favorite phrase of Marxists and a core concept of Barrack Obama. But, would you believe Gary Comegys, too? Here’s why I’m not sure.

The City of Salisbury was recently requested by the firm owned by the family of the president of the Wicomico County Council to refund $2,328.00 that it paid to satisfy liens by the City to cure code violations at 304 Delaware Avenue. The lien fees were paid in order to transfer the property to Cannon, LLLC, which bought it at a tax sale for $7,450.00

The reasons stated in John Cannon’s letter making the request, which the City Council denied at a special meeting this week by unanimous vote, are discussed on this blog at: http://sbynews.blogspot.com/2009/09/wicomico-council-president-wants-refund.html

When the request was discussed at an earlier work session of the City Council, Mr. Comegys suggested that it should be rejected because the Cannons are wealthy. No, I’m not making this up.

The requested refund should be granted or not because of the facts and circumstances pertaining to the property, not because the Cannons are among the wealthiest families in Wicomico County. All persons, rich or poor, are entitled to equal protection under law. And I’m not sure that Comegys really meant what he suggested in light of his longstanding support of landlords and developers and their support of him in the recent City election.

Of course, some leopards can lose their spots. He may want to distance himself from those who have been responsible for his political career. Perhaps he is preparing for another election campaign – maybe for a County Council seat next year. But for now, unless he says otherwise, we should take his position at face value: wealth should be shared among everyone.

To quote E. J. Pipken, “who knew?”

The Town Of Delmar Breaks The Bank!

In a move that will go on the record books for the state of Maryland, the Town of Delmar did the most fiscally responsible move ever witnessed in the state of Maryland.

Bursting at the seams, the Town of Delmar Offices are shared by Delmar, Maryland and Delmar, Delaware. Converting bathrooms to storage units, closets turned into Offices, the tiny building they are currently in has become far too small.

When opportunity came knocking and the Bank of Delmar mentioned they were building a new Bank on Rt. 13, Delmar jumped at the opportunity to purchase the old Bank as well as all the land that went with it. Downtown Parking is a major issue right now and with this purchase they can add quite a bit of additional parking. The old Town Hall and the new Town Hall are all within the same lot and now they'll own both.

So here's the catch. When it came time to vote last night on the actual purchase, they were torn about how to go about it. The purchase of the old Bank and all of the property along with it was only $375,000.00. In order to make the facility ADA compliant, they'd need an additional $125,000.00 and the Bank of Delmar stated they'd be happy to float them a loan for the total, $500,000.00 over 10 years at 5% interest, amortised over 30 years.

Pretty sweet deal, eh. Well guess what, it gets better. Since the Town of Delmar, Maryland is actually making the purchase, the Town of Delmar, DE. committed to paying 40% of everything. They'd pay 40% of the loan and improvements, including interest as well as 40% of the upkeep of the property. Perfectly fair in my book.

So when the Town of Delmar, Maryland realized they had $2,500,000.00 in the Bank, rather than going to the State or the Bank of Delmar to BORROW MONEY, they actually chose to PAY CASH for their share of the building costs, leaving them in an equity PLUS situation, rather than leaving the Taxpayers on the hook for the next 10 years!

Commissioner Carl Anderton said, "It feels really good to know I was able to serve my community and I feel really good about the decision we made tonight." All Commissioners present last night unanimously voted to pay CASH for this purchase and my hat is absolutely 100% tipped to these fine men and women who actually set a brand new EXAMPLE for the rest of the Municipalities throughout the state of Maryland.

It was a fortunate position to be in, having additional funds in the Bank to pay for such a purchase and not burden the taxpayers any more then they have already been burdened in the recent past. While they look at their neighbor, Salisbury, Maryland, the threat of jobs being lost because they borrowed far too much money and didn't plan for a recession, let alone a depression, Delmar, Maryland Employees will be perfectly secure and you have to appreciate these Commissioners for acting so fiscally responsible.

As for the now "old City Hall" there's a possibility it may become the next Police Department. The current Police Department was the old Public Works building and quite frankly, it's a mess. There's no commitment from the DPD to relocate there but I for one would have to say it would be a major step in the right direction if they did in fact choose to make the move. Again, it is paid for and would also be fiscally responsible.

So while NO other Press was around last night, you'll only read about this unbelievable move right here on Salisbury News. To the residents of Delmar, Maryland. If I were you, I'd call City Hall today and THANK your representatives and tell them how PROUD you are of these fine men and women. They have not only balanced the books in your Town, they have purchased a new facility in a growing Town and did so without having to borrow a penny. Well, not on the Maryland side, anyway. Congratulations Delmar!

Obamacare’s Poison Pill

by Linda Halderman, M.D.
Private Papers

Three House committees just choked down the bitter pill of a compromise version of a healthcare reform bill, HR 3200. But for vulnerable patients — and taxpayers — the cure may be worse than the disease.

Problematic policy recommendations by proponents of rationing and socializing costs may be part of why the bill is so unpalatable to opponents of government intervention in healthcare decision making.

President Obama’s director of the Office of Management and Budget, Peter Orszag, is himself advised by Ezekiel Emanuel — brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

In addition to serving as a Special Advisor in the Obama Administration, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel is a fellow at the Hastings Center. The Hastings Center, a bioethics research center, has published articles and books on the patient’s right to die, as well as promoted “Assisted Dying” policy as a component of healthcare reform.

Dr. Emanuel’s June 2008 article in the Journal of the American Medical Association criticized the Hippocratic Oath as an unwelcome “imperative [for physicians] to do everything for the patient regardless of cost or effect on others.”

In the article, titled “The Perfect Storm of Overutilization,” he instead encourages a “move toward more socially sustainable, cost-effective care.”

This philosophy of “socially sustainable care” for older Americans is reflected in nine pages of the bill devoted to a description of a new Medicare benefit: “Advance Care Planning Consultation.”

Concerns with these provisions (quoted below from pages 425-434 of HR 3200) have been dismissed as spin and minimized by the Administration and supporters of the bill.

HR 3200 describes what a private discussion between a patient and doctor should include: “an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services…and an explanation of orders regarding life sustaining treatment” with “the reasons why such an order should be updated periodically as the health of the individual changes.”

The discussion of end of life choices would be further detailed by the federal government to address an individual’s desire for “the intensity of medical intervention if the patient is pulseless, apneic, or has serious cardiac or pulmonary problems” and whether or not the individual will allow “the use of antibiotics” or “artificially administered nutrition and hydration.”

The President refuses to say if he specifically supports Medicare reimbursement for end of life counseling sessions or the wisdom of allowing the federal government to dictate the content of medical discussions. According to his aides, he is unconcerned that such reimbursement might lead to government interference in life or death decisions about healthcare.

Also informing healthcare policy is Dr. David Blumenthal, the National Coordinator for the Obama Administration’s new Health Information Technology $19 billion bureaucracy. Dr. Blumenthal is the author of “Controlling Health Care Expenditures,” published in the New England Journal of Medicine on March 8, 2001.

In the same article, Dr. Blumenthal extols the virtues of government cost controls for healthcare, though he concedes the inevitable result of this intrusion into patient-doctor decision making: "Longer waits for elective procedures and reduced availability of new and expensive treatments and devices.”

Government cost controls would need to be extreme to prevent HR 3200’s assault on taxpayers. How much green can a taxpayer’s wallet hemorrhage? The House bill aims to find out. Current estimates for the bloated legislation — over 1,000 pages and counting — reach nearly $1 trillion.

In a classic example of government mathematics, legislators involved in negotiations bragged that the most recent amendments would cut the bill’s cost by about $100 billion over 10 years. These same dealmakers carefully omitted reference to additional new amendments that would actually RAISE the fiscal burden — by about $100 billion.

It is possible that the same economic logic was used to draft page 203, lines 14-15 of HR 3200: “The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax.”

Complaining about critics, the President scolded, “These folks need to stop scaring everybody, you know?”

He may be right. The President’s plan is frightening enough on its own.

The Second World War — Seventy Years Later

by Victor Davis Hanson
Tribune Media Services

Seventy years ago this week, on Sept. 1, 1939, the Second World War broke out with the German invasion of Poland. Thousands of books have been written about the war. And by now revisionist historians of revisionist historians engage in an endless cycle of disagreement over why the war started, how it ended and what it all meant.

Here are a few more controversial thoughts on the horrific conflict that killed 60 million people, wrecked Europe and set the stage for an ensuing half-century Cold War.

Many blame Germany's aggressions on the supposedly harsh terms of the Versailles Treaty following the First World War, which stripped a defeated Germany of territory, required reparations and dismantled its military.

But Versailles was far more lenient than what the Germans had planned for Britain and France should they have won in 1918. And it was not nearly as harsh as the terms the Germans imposed on a defeated Russia under the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in early 1918, before they lost the larger conflict.

A better reason there was a Second World War, but not a Third, is that Germany was occupied and monitored after 1945 — unlike following its previous defeat in 1918.

Most give the Red Army the most credit for wrecking the German army. That is absolutely true: Two of three German soldiers who died in the war were killed on the murderous Eastern Front, a larger theater of conflict than all others combined.

Yet despite the superhuman heroism of millions of brave Russian soldiers, Stalin's Soviet government was largely an amoral actor throughout the war. It, along with Hitler's Germany, invaded neutral Poland in September 1939. Three months later, it attacked tiny Finland.

The Security of Government Healthcare

Here is a touching and revealing story about National HealthCare in Great Britain. Visit the following links to learn bout the the fate of baby Jaden.

http://justice4jayden.webs.com/jaydensstory.htmhttp://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=44595174482

It appears that human life in the Britain National Healthcare Service has no intrinsic value whatsoever, any value it holds is assigned by the state. Once the state has control and healthcare is budgeted (as Obama has promised), this affront to humanity can occur here in America. It is already law in England.

Here is another angle on Jayden’s story:

Because Jayden was considered nonviable. His death was not considered or registered by the British Government as an INFANT MORTALITY. In America, we would have done everything possible to save Jayden. If we would have failed in saving his life here in America, we would have been counted his case as an INFANT MORTALITY.

Considering Jayden's case, if he were born and didn't survive in America, the INFANT MORTALITY RATE in America would have risen. Because he was born in Great Britain but the British government considered him "never born," his death was not counted as an INFANT MORTALITY. Therefore Jayden's death did not cause Britain's mortality rate to rise.

This distinction is very important. Babies like Jayden are born tens of thousands of times in America every year and "not born" thousands of times every year in Great Britain. This type of story illustrates why INFANT MORTALITY RATES are artificially low in countries like Great Britain, countries that have national healthcare and legislate a minimum gestational age, only after which a baby born is considered "living."

America’s INFANT MORTALITY RATE is higher than Great Britain’s. The left uses this statistic to imply Great Britain’s national healthcare system is better than ours. Now you know one reason why INFANT MORTALITY RATE is unreliable. You also know one way to challenge those who use this statistic to denigrate our healthcare system, the best in the history of the world.

Joe Albero Sells Newspapers

Even though Jonathan Taylor and attorney Heather Conyer of T.J. Maloney's Law Office had their a$$es kicked by a non attorney and citizen of Salisbury last week, the Daily Times never mentioned a single word about it. However, any scent of blood from Joe Albero, well, the sharks come from miles away and they try with all their powers to go for the kill.

This time, however, we played it very calculated by feeding them letters by my attorney, assuring the proper words were in place, like Webster and Albero settled on "non monetary terms," something not seen in years in the Daily Times. Previously they would always imply Webster won a settlement from me, which was absolutely 100% not true. So for once, (even thought we did most of the work) I am very pleased at the article produced by the Daily Times.

The case against me by the Warden is completely bogus. I am immune to any such charges as I am in no way, shape or form responsible for comments left on this Blog. As I stated earlier in another Post, Devanins can go to Google and ask for the person behind the comment but he knows they're not going to give it to him, especially since the comment was more than a year ago.

This guy Devanins reminds me a lot of Billy Burke. You know, LOOK AT MEEEEEE!!!! Hence my little photo album above, I thought I'd out do them today. The only difference is, Burke is a two time convicted felon of burglary and auto theft. Devanins is a Warden. Anyhow, here's a link to the Daily Times article, front page I'll assume? You know how they just love to attack the competition. Does anyone wonder why there's no mention of Jonathan Taylor. Oh, that's right, he's a nobody but he did get his a$$ kicked in Court and will again in the very near future. I hear JR is just boiling mad over the ruling from the Judge too. Be careful who you partner with JR. You could end up being front page news again.

Congressman Kratovil Responds To H.R. 1868, The Birthright Citizenship Act

Dear Mr. X,

Thank you for contacting my office to share your thoughts on H.R. 1868, the Birthright Citizenship Act. As your Representative, I am guided by the perspectives of my constituents and I appreciate you taking the time to convey your opinion on this important issue.

The Birthright Citizenship Act was introduced on April 2, 2009 by Representative Nathan Deal. This legislation would establish requirements on claiming a birthright to United States citizenship. Currently, the United States government considers anyone born in the United States to have a birthright to citizenship, including illegal immigrants and those with temporary work visas. H.R. 1868 would limit this birthright to those who meet one of the following requirements: if one of the parents are U.S. citizens, a lawful permanent resident whose residence is in the United States, or an alien performing active service in the United States Armed Forces. This bill has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary. Although I do not sit on this Committee, please be assured that should this bill or any other related to immigration come before the full House of Representatives that I will keep your views in mind, carefully study the facts on all sides of the issue and vote in way that best serves my constituents in the First District.

As a career prosecutor before I came to Congress, I saw firsthand how the federal government's failure to enforce immigration laws has unfairly burdened local law enforcement. We must secure our borders, prevent taxpayer dollars from being spent on individuals who are here illegally, and crack down on employers who hire and exploit illegal workers. With an aim to accomplishing these goals I have fought for additional funds for the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), which helps states and localities with the costs of incarcerating illegal aliens, and I am pleased to be an original cosponsor of H.R. 3308, the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act of 2009. The SAVE Act would establish new procedures to increase border security, enhance employment verification, and increase interior enforcement. The bill would call for 6,000 new border patrol agents and provide the resources they need to be effective, including vehicles, all-purpose roads, facilities, weapons, and body armor. The E-verify program, which allows employers to check the status of new hires online by comparing information from an employee's I-9 form against Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security databases, would be expanded and made mandatory. E-Verify is free and the best means available for determining employment eligibility of new hires and the validity of their Social Security numbers. Finally, the SAVE Act would strengthen the enforcement of existing laws by employing additional Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents while also expediting the processing and removal of illegal aliens. I strongly support the goals outlined in the SAVE Act and I hope that this common sense legislation can be signed into law.

Please do not hesitate to contact me again in the future regarding issues that concern you. I believe that continuous communication with the residents of the First District is essential to helping me be an effective advocate for you in Congress. To stay informed, please visit my website at www.house.gov/kratovil.

Thank you again for contacting me and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Frank M. Kratovil, Jr.

Just Words

Just Words, Mr. President?
You’ve Certainly Made Politics Relevant Again

Washington, Sep 3 - Fresh from his vacation in Martha’s Vineyard after getting pummeled in public opinion polls and town hall meetings across the country this summer, President Obama plans to re-enter the debate on health care reform by addressing a Joint Session of Congress.

As President, he has every right to do so, of course. But we hope he hasn’t forgotten about another commitment he made way back at the end of July.

“When we come back in September, I will be available to answer any question that members of Congress have. If they want to come over to the White House and go over line by line what's going on, I will be happy to do that.” (President Obama, 7/29/09)

Shortly thereafter, House Republicans including RSC Chairman Tom Price (GA-06), Rep. Phil Roe (TN-01), Rep. Michael Burgess (TX-26), Rep. Bill Cassidy (LA-06), Rep. Jason Chaffetz (UT-03), and Rep. Steve Scalise (LA-01) gladly accepted the President’s invitation.

September is now here, yet the White House has neglected to inform these Members of Congress when President Obama plans to make good on his offer.

Surely, it was more than just words, right? Followers of last year’s presidential primaries may recall then-candidate Obama’s own thoughts about the importance of words.

“But understand this argument about words not mattering. The most important thing that we can do right now is to reengage the American people in the process of government; to get them excited and interested again in what works and what can work in our government; to make politics cool again, and important again, and relevant again. Don't tell me words don't matter.” (President Obama, 2/16/2008)

No doubt about it, the debate on health care reform has definitely reengaged the American people in the process of government.

Still, we’d like to think the President’s invitation to join him at the White House to go over the health care legislation line-by-line was more than just words. By coming together and discussing this issue in a bipartisan manner, we can begin to craft a health care reform measure that works for all Americans – one that preserves those areas of the system that work, while fixing those that don’t.

So, how about it, Mr. President? The American people expect us to work for positive solutions, just as they expect us to keep our word. We’re ready to meet when you are.

Rep. Tom Price, M.D.Chairman, Republican Study Committee

The Hair Cut...

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut.

After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you , I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you , I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I can not accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

Evolution Craft Brewing

I first want to tell you I have been following your news site for a while. I first read your highlight of Evolution Craft Brewing in Delmar, several months ago. I finally made time to get up there and check it out. What can I say... WOW! I love the smell of a brewery, as a former home brewer. The smell of the barley and hops is amazing. The owners are quite friendly and knowledgeable. Needless to say, I had the sampler (their 4 brews), which is normally $5, and left there with a growler (1/2 gallon) of their Rise Up Stout (no charge for the sampler since I purchased the beer). This is an amazing brew! The notes of espresso, and for a stout... Very palatable. Not a bit harsh! I highly recommend any beer lover to check out Evolution Craft Brewing! Oh! And I got to keep the sampler glass!

Logic

Two Rednecks, Larry and Doug, are sitting at their favorite bar, drinking beer.

Larry turns to Doug and says, 'You know, I'm tired of going through life without an education. Tomorrow I think I'll go to the Community College and sign up for some classes.'

Doug thinks it's a good idea and the two leave.

The next day, Larry goes down to the college and meets Dean of Admissions, who signs him up for the four basic classes: Math, English, history, and Logic.

'Logic?' Larry says. 'What's that?'

The dean says, 'I'll give you an example. Do you own a weed eater?'

'Yeah.'

'Then logically speaking, because you own a weed eater, I think that you would have a yard.'

'That's true, I do have a yard.'

'I'm not done,' the dean says. 'Because you have a yard, I think logically that you would have a house.'

'Yes, I do have a house.'

'And because you have a house, I think that you might logically have a family.'

'Yes, I have a family.

'I'm not done yet. Because you have a family, then logically you must have a wife. And because you have a wife, then logic tells me you must be a heterosexual.'

'I am a heterosexual. That's amazing, you were able to find out all of that because I have a weed eater.'

Excited to take the class now, Larry shakes the Dean's hand and leaves to go meet Doug at the bar. He tells Doug about his classes, how he is signed up for Math, English, History, and Logic.

'Logic? ' Doug says, 'What's that?'

Larry says, 'I'll give you an example. Do you have a weed eater?'

'No.'

'Then you're a queer.'

Obama Crookedness At Chrysler

This is unbelievable. (No it’s not.)

This could be a scandal of epic proportions and one that makes Nixon's Watergate or Clinton's Monica Lewinsky affair pale by comparison. Why was there neither rhyme nor reason as to which dealerships of the Chrysler Corporation were to be closed? Roll the clock back to the weeks just before Chrysler declared bankruptcy. Chrysler, like GM, was in dire financial straights and federal government graciously offered to "buy the company" and keep them out of bankruptcy and "save jobs." Chrysler was, in the words of Obama and his administration, "Too big to fail," same story with GM.

The feds organized their "Automotive Task Force" to fix Chrysler and GM. Obama, in an act that is 100% unconstitutional, appointed a guy named Steve Rattner to be the White House's official Car Czar- literally, that's what his title is. Rattner is the liaison between Obama, Chrysler, and GM.

Initially, the national media reported that Chrysler had made this list of dealerships. That is not true. The Washington Examiner, Newsmax, Fox New and a host of other news agencies discovered that the list of dealerships was put together by the "Automotive Task Force" headed by no one other then Mr. Steve Rattner. Now the plot thickens. Remember earlier we said earlier that there was neither rhyme nor reason why certain dealerships were closed? Actually there's a very interesting pattern as to who was closed down. Again, on May 27, 2009, The
Washington Examiner and Newsmax exposed the connection. Amazingly, of the 789 dealerships closed by the federal government 788 had donated money, exclusively, to Republican political causes, while contributing nothing to Democratic political causes. The only "Democratic" dealership on the list was found to have donated $7,700 to Hillary's campaign, and a bit over $2,000 to John Edwards. This same dealership, reportedly, also gave $200.00 to Obama's campaign. Does that seem a little odd to you?

Steve Rattner, the guy who put the list together. Well he happens to be married to a babe named Maureen White. Maureen happens to be the former national finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee. As such, she would have access to campaign donation records from everyone in the nation, Republican or Democrat. But of course, this is just a wacky coincidence, we're certain.

Then comes another really wacky coincidence. On that list of dealerships being closed down, a weird thing happened in Arkansas, North Louisiana, and Southern Missouri. It seems that Bill Clinton's former White House Chief of Staff, Mack McClarty, owns a chain of dealership in that region, partnered with a fellow by the name of Robert Johnson. Johnson happens to be founder of Black Entertainment Television and was a huge Obama supporter and financier. These guys own a half dozen Chrysler stores under the company title of RLJ-McClarty-Landers. Interestingly, none of their dealerships were ordered closed - not one- while all of
their competing Chrysler/Dodge and Jeep dealership were! Eight dealerships located near the dealerships owned by McClarty and Johnson were ordered shut down. Thus, by pure luck, these two major Obama supporters now have virtual monopoly on Chrysler sales in their zone. Isn't that amazing? Go look in The Washington Examiner, the story's there, and it's in a dozen or so other web-based news organization, this isn't being made up.

Now if you thought Chrysler was owned by Fiat, you are truly mistaken. Under the federal court ruling, 65% of Chrysler is now owned by the federal government and the United Auto Worker's union- Fiat owns 20%. The other 15% is till privately owned and presumably will be traded on the stock market. Obama smiles and says he doesn't want to run the auto industry.

As horrifying as this is to comprehend, and being as how this used to be the United States of America, it would appear that the president has the power to destroy private businesses and eliminate upwards of 100,000 jobs, just because they don't agree with his political agenda. This is Nazi Germany stuff, and it's happening right here, right now, in your back yard. There are voices in Washington demanding an explanation, but the "Automotive Task Force" has released no information to the public or any of the senators demanding answers for what has been done. Keep your ear to the ground for more on this story. If you've ever wanted to make a difference about anything in your life, get on the phone to your
national senator or representative in the House and demand an investigation on this.

Benjamin Franklin had it right when he said, "All that's necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Glenn Beck: Sunstein 'Most Dangerous' Czar

Conservative talker Glenn Beck says Cass Sunstein, who is awaiting Senate confirmation as President Obama's new Regulatory Czar, "is probably the most dangerous czar out there."

Sunstein, a Harvard Law School professor and longtime friend of Obama, would head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, and oversee all governmental regulations.

Beck blasted Sunstein on the air Wednesday and outlined several of his positions:

"Cass Sunstein is a guy who is against the Second Amendment, who believes that the purpose of the Second Amendment is not an individual right but a federal right. He says almost all gun control legislation is constitutionally fine."

"He also believes that we ought to ban hunting. He says a willingness to subject animals to suffering will be seen as a form of barbarity, morally akin to slavery and the mass extermination of human beings. He believes that animals should have a right, should be able to bring suit, because they are not property...

"This is a guy who thinks that rats should be able to have attorneys. If you have rats in your basement, you are not to poison rats. You can't make this stuff up."

"On free speech, Cass Sunstein says a system of limitless individual choices with respect to communications is not necessarily in the interest of citizenship and self?government."

Beck said Sunstein "would like to control the Internet" and espouses "a legislative effort to regulate broadcasting in the interest of Democratic principles. Wow, that's the words that [Venezuelan President Hugo] Chavez always used
