Another Salisbury News Exclusive
The old Boulevard Theater in Downtown Salisbury is coming down and the construction started this evening.
I spoke with the current owner David Moore on location and asked him what his plans were for the site. He said he wanted to get the building torn down and recycle all of the material, grade the land and hopefully put it back on the market for sale.
This is certainly a prime location for any kind of business as it has such great visibility on Rt. 13. I could see a Rite Aid, man, you name it, it would do well there.
The final construction will start, (they say) at 5:00 AM tomorrow morning but I kind of doubt they'll be able to get started that early. I'd expect to see crews out there that early as they need to block off one lane south bound on Rt. 13, one lane of Main Street and perhaps the road behind the building. It shouldn't be much of a problem maneuvering around this square block area but it will be quite interesting to see what it looks like tomorrow afternoon.
Anyhow, these might be some of the last photos you'll see of this building standing. Many have stated how sad it is that Mr. Moore couldn't rebuild the old Theater but the place was caving in, floors were crumbling beneath you and I'm told the roof was even caving in. It couldn't be saved and I blame that on that Arts Group that had it in their possession for all those years and did NOTHING with the money they had raised to at least keep the building maintained.
I'll tell you one thing, that group better never come to me asking for any money because I'll never trust a word they say. First they got the building donated to them for nothing. Then they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars promising they'd rebuild the building and then they sold it for a couple hundred thousand dollars, (or so) and walked away with all that money. Nope, they'll not ever see a penny from me.
Well, you know what they say. "Take a picture, it will last longer."
President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, & Others Owe 1.2 Million Tea Party Patriots Apology
The American People Deserve Better From Their Elected Representatives and Are Beginning to Demand It
Among the political class it has apparently become acceptable, and even fashionable, for American politicians from the President on down to mock the citizens they represent. In a development that can only further denigrate the discourse necessary to any effective democracy, politicians and the "serious" news media are now mocking citizens regularly and with impunity. Supported by mainstream journalists on MSNBC and CNNwho themselves use sexual slurs on national television to mock and attack the same citizens, the politicians openly demonstrate their feelings of superiority in regard to those they were elected to represent. They now candidly express their disdain for a significant portion of the American population without threat of reprisal by the mainstream media.
On the morning of the April 15th Tea Parties, the American public was informed on national news by one of the President's economic advisers, Jared Bernstein, that the President was "unaware" of the tea parties taking place in over 850 cities across the nation. On April 29th, the President informed a town hall meeting in St. Louis that he has now become aware of the tea parties, but only from "certain news channels on which I'm not very popular." He referred to the one million plus Patriots who came out in legitimate and constitutionally protected demonstrations of free speech on April 15th as "folks waving tea bags around..." While he collects royalties (last year about $2.6 million) from his books, The Audacity of Hope and Dreams From My Father, the President has the audacity to imply that we the people have nothing legitimate to say about high taxes, wasteful spending and corporate bailouts. The President also seems to believe that it is appropriate to mock millions of Americans who are expressing their opinions publicly in a peaceful manner. "Perhaps he feels that by mocking the tea parties and the patriots who attend them, that he can marginalize them. But we know that real patriots cannot be marginalized, and that they will continue to make their voices heard in ever greater numbers," says Chris Lewis, Salisbury Tea Party Coordinator and Tea Party Patriots National Leadership Council Member.
This sort of condescending approach to the grassroots is a hallmark of politicians all across this land. We, the grassroots are mocked by the President as "folks waving tea bags around." Discussion of our legitimate complaints and concerns is avoided through the use of derogatory and condescending rhetoric. We've heard similar rhetoric from the Speaker Nancy Pelosi who says the tea parties are an "Astroturf initiative," and "contrived events backed by those who like tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans." Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL), called people who attended the Tea Parties "despicable" and "shameful," "corporate interests" and said the events were created by "Republican lobbyists and politicians". At every level, the President and the majority of politicians at a national level refuse to discuss the issues head on, and refuse to acknowledge the fact that a huge, non-partisan, grassroots movement has coalesced around limited government, fiscal responsibility and lower taxes. As politicians, they are simply interested in taking and spending more and more of our money, and in leaving our children with the burdens of their excess. And they will mock, deride and oppose anyone who objects to what they are doing.
At this time, the President, and all other politicians who demeaned the protestors, Speaker Pelosi (CA), and Rep. Schakowsky (IL) included, owe 1.2 million patriots an apology. If our politicians are truly interested in dialogue with the people they claim to represent, such a dialogue must begin with respect for the citizens of this country. That show of respect will begin when the politicians acknowledge that mocking and demeaning well-intentioned, peaceful Tea Party Patriots who love their country is the height of arrogance, and a terrible mistake. The American people deserve better from their elected representatives, and are beginning to demand it.

When Will Chief See Return Our Vehicle?
Yesterday I had a meeting at the Market Street Inn and all of a sudden I saw all of these Salisbury Fire Department vehicles pulling into the parking lot. It was then that I thought, I wonder when Chief See will return his vehicle, since he physically stopped working for the City yesterday.
I then wondered if he'd do the honorable thing and drop off his vehicle at the end of the day and then I thought, nah, it's not his style, he'll milk it as long as he possibly can.
Today I was running around north Salisbury and on my way home I thought, let me see if Chief See still has our car? Low and behold, there it was parked outside his home. Act like a man Chiefy and bring our car back. We don't need you running around burning our gas and insurance any more. You'll get your pension, isn't that good enough?
Bill Harden vs Wicomico County vs Doug Devenyns
The documents should speak for themselves. This is a serious case with serious charges. You can click on the images to enlarge.
Salisbury News is delivering a ton of news you won't see anywhere else. Well, until they catch up to us anyway. I can assure you other news sources are running around today like chickens with their heads cut off doing "catch up work." LOL
Bounty Hunters Nab Fugitive In Salisbury
ABBA Bail Bonds has been on the hook since September of last year looking for Kimberly Hoffman. It turns out she has had issues with the law for some 20 years now and this morning they had a Hot Tip she was located in an apartment on Railroad Avenue.
Bounty Hunters sprung into action and made their way to a location Kimberly had stated at one time was a residence she stayed at. They had tried many times to catch her there but today they struck gold.
The charges they were after her for was violation of probation as well as a warrant for failure to appear. They knocked on the door and did a search on the apartment and found Kimberly hiding under the bed. I'm told additional charges have been filed on her since her last arrest as well.
ABBA Bail Bonds Bounty Hunters are licensed in MD., DE. & VA. Kimberly's record is as follows:

MD TOLL FREE SWINE FLU INFORMATION LINE
MARYLAND ANNOUNCES TOLL FREE SWINE FLU INFORMATION LINE
Residents can call 1-877-MDFLU4U (633-5848) Seven days a week
ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 1, 2009) - Governor Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) announced today that 1-877-MDFLU4U (633-5848) has been activated as a statewide toll free information line to answers questions residents may have about the swine flu outbreak.
The service will operate between the hours of 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday – Friday and 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. In addition, DHMH will accept swine flu questions by email at swineflu@dhmh.state.md.us.
“It is of paramount importance to ensure information is available in as many ways as possible,” Governor O’Malley said. “This information line – 1-877-MDFLU4U (633-5848) – and the email option are more tools to help answer questions our residents may have about this new flu. Information remains available on the Internet at www.maryland.gov.”
As with any other seasonal flu, DHMH officials remind Marylanders to use common sense precautions to avoid becoming ill or spreading an illness to others. Basic hygiene is the best tool to help prevent a swine flu illness. Individuals should frequently wash their hands and cover their mouths when coughing.
“Maryland residents will ask more and more questions as this outbreak moves forward and additional cases are identified,” DHMH Secretary John M. Colmers said. “This phone line and mailbox are additional resources to assist those who need answers.”
DHMH officials have identified eight probable cases of swine flu in Maryland. They are from Anne Arundel County (three), Baltimore County (four) and Montgomery County (one.) All patients are recovering from their illness and none have been hospitalized. Due to confidentiality considerations, no further information about the patients will be released.
In addition to the 1-877-MDFLU4U (633-5848) information line, people can log on to www.maryland.gov for swine flu-related information.

EXCLUSIVE BREAKING NEWS!
Now wait a minute, don't get all excited. He was caught again and brought back in to the Detention Center.
That's right, he was ACCIDENTALLY RELEASED and once they realized what they had done they went searching for him and brought him back to Jail.
Ray Lewis is serving additional jail time as he was caught smuggling a large amount of cash back into the Jail after he had only 18 days left to serve. I know his Family/Friends have been on here anonymously making comments saying this wasn't true but they lied. Ray received additional jail time and was immediately taken out of Work Release because of his actions.
Wicomico County Taxpayers can breathe a sigh of relief knowing he will in fact serve his entire sentence, unless some knucklehead releases him or someone else before their time is up too. I wonder if they'll put out a Press Release about their screw up at the Detention Center?????

It's A Sad Day When The Russians Say America Has Moved To A Socialist/Marxist Nation
American capitalism gone with a whimper
It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.
True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.
Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.
First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.
Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.
The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.
These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?
GO HERE to read more.

MEGA-GROWTH SOON IN WICOMICO COUNTY – NO WAY!
According to the environmental elite and NIMBY’s who performed at the recent public hearing at the Civic Center, if cluster subdivisions in the rural areas are not killed by tomorrow afternoon the County will be overrun by hordes of homeowners, Perdue will go bankrupt and all flora and fauna will disappear. That’s not about to happen and won’t occur any time soon, if ever.
Some particularly pertinent data was issued recently by the Planning Office – see the attached charts.
Especially significant to the downzoning debate: development in the rural part of Wicomico County (outside the “Metro Core”) has decreased markedly. In the decade 1986-1997, there were 2,283 new lots were created on a total of almost 6,000 acres of land. But, in the decade following the comprehensive rezoning of the County in 1998, only 678 lots were created on about 2,500 acres. And, as posted on this blog yesterday, during that decade (plus 2008) only 263 lots were created in cluster subdivisions. Much of that 11 year period was a record development bonanza, but less than 1,000 acres in the area zoned for agriculture (“A-1” District) was subdivided for cluster development, of which most of that acreage became permanently preserved open space, available for agriculture, at no cost to the taxpayer.
The data projections indicate that the rate of growth in Wicomico County will continue to decrease – see the charts for Population/Household Growth Trend” and “Jobs” that show a downward spiral well into the future. Those ads and propaganda that the proponents of slow/no growth are using to kill cluster subdivision development are self-serving bunk.
Don’t tell the Chesapeake Bay Foundation or the Wicomico Environmental Trust about these data! They will simply get the government to change them.
Taxpayers Get A Rude Surprise
INSIDE WASHINGTON: Millions of couples, retirees may have to repay some of Obama tax credit
Stephen Ohlemacher, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring.
The government is going to want some of that money back.
The tax credit is supposed to provide up to $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples as part of the massive economic recovery package enacted in February. Most workers started receiving the credit through small increases in their paychecks in the past month.
But new tax withholding tables issued by the IRS could cause millions of taxpayers to get hundreds of dollars more than they are entitled to under the credit, money that will have to be repaid at tax time.
At-risk taxpayers include a broad swath of the public: married couples in which both spouses work; workers with more than one job; retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from their pension payments and Social Security recipients with jobs that provide taxable income.
The Internal Revenue Service acknowledges problems with the withholding tables but has done little to warn average taxpayers.

Dave Suiter, "On The Road Again"
Hello Folks,
The Old Man is back Home!! Came over the bridge at Vienna, MD on US 50 about 1045 this AM and what should my eyes behold???????????? SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have seen only one hour of sun since I left Oregon and that was in Nebraska ( with the wind behind me for a change).
7300 miles from Salisbury,MD on US 50 to Sacramento, north along the coast to Portland and east to home. This was a trip that I have wanted to ride for years. I was fortunate to see two very good friends and their families in Portland and Indy. Thanks for the memories and hospitality classmates Art, Scott, and their wives Sue and Kathy.
Sheryl and I went by the American Legion a while ago. I was asked if I would do it again. YES!!!! I would like to be about 15-20 years younger but still, the trip was once in a lifetime. If on a motorcycle or in a car, there is so much of this great country to see that I feel sure you will be awed by the vistas along US50, through Kansas, Utah, Nevada and California up through Oregon, and back through Wyoming ,Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
How about a trip to West Virginia along US 50 and back along the National Pike US40?? Would be a great weekend trip for folks on the Eastern Shore around October.
I would like to thank Joe Albero for posting my travels (BTW Joe, Several folks at SBY Legion followed my trip thanks to SBYNEWS .blogspot.com) and thank folks for their comments and concerns , which were very much appreciated. I had no idea that Joe would post this trip on his blog and their response to the updates.
Despite rain, snow, wind and over cast sky's the ride home was beautiful. There is much to see even along Inter-states.
I sincerely hope that some of you are able to have the time and desire to go out west, down south, up north and everywhere in between. The USA is a great place to live, to explore and enjoy. I've been almost around the world in my travels with the USN and NASA but here in the lower 48 it is the BEST. Please take the time to see and enjoy before it is to late. Find old friends, lost family and classmates to share memories and those friendships with.
That's it folks.
Again THANK YOU Joe and THANK YOU folks that followed this trip.
As Red said, Good Night and God Bless,
Dave

Miss California Appears In Anti-Gay Marriage Ad
By Alex Dobuzinskis, Reuters
LOS ANGELES — After failing to stop recent gay marriage approvals in several states, opponents have found an attractive, telegenic poster woman in Miss California, a move reminiscent of beauty queen Anita Bryant's 1970s crusade against gay rights.
Miss California, a Christian college student named Carrie Prejean, joined in a television ad campaign against gay marriage this week, upsetting homosexual rights advocates, including a head of the Miss California pageant.
In the commercial from the National Organization for Marriage, Prejean is shown at the Miss USA competition last month where she answered a question about same-sex marriage by saying she opposed it, drawing both boos and cheers and setting off a raucous debate.
After providing that answer, Prejean was named runner-up to Miss USA. She later said her view on marriage cost her the crown.
As gay marriage opponents have rallied around Miss California, they have also lost key battles in recent weeks.
On Wednesday, New Hampshire's Senate passed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage and if the governor signs it, the state could become the fifth to legalize gay weddings.

Inacom Hosts Tech Seminar
Inacom hosted a Tech Seminar yesterday at the Fountain's where more than 200 pre registered business people attended.
I have to tell you, my hat is tipped to Mr. Hunter Johnson for bringing such business to the Eastern Shore single handily.
I have traveled all over the World to different Trade Shows, big and small and this is not an easy task to take on. There's a ton of coordinating many different companies and you must convince them, (especially in this economy) to make the investment for a growing market.
Mr. Johnson not only pulled it together, he also had to contact companies and municipalities, gaining their interest and getting them to the Show. Not an easy task and quite the investment. I'm glad to see there was a nice turn out. Mind you, I was there very early as I had a ton of meetings yesterday and the only time I could fit this in was just as things were getting started.
Inacom offers a variety of services from Websites, Technical Support, Phone Systems, Copiers, Networking, you name it, they pretty much do it.

Fruitland/ Salisbury Resident - Fundraiser Spokesperson
Hi Joe- I just came across your blog when I went on a hunt for media in the Salisbury/ Fruitland, MD areas. I’m not sure if this is the type of thing you prefer to cover but since it’s community news I wanted to send it just in case.
Dustin Phillips, an 11 year-old Fruitland resident, is one of this year’s brave faces representing this year’s Triple Winner Game, an annual fundraiser to help fund research to fight children’s cancer, by Giant Food. Dustin is a patient at The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University of Medicine. His courage and spirit have inspired and given hope to other children with cancer. His motto is “Have No Fear.”
Dustin lost his right arm but has an ever-present positive attitude. In fact, he wants to be a left-handed pitcher when he grows up and recently had the opportunity to meet Brian Matusz, the left-handed pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, thanks to Giant Food. He is a fifth-grade student who enjoys Legos, history and Nintendo Wii.
I’ve attached a photo of Dustin at the Triple Winner Game kickoff, at Camden Yards.
The Triple Winner game is a scratch-card promotion in which every ticket is an instant winner of either a free product, a gift card or cash prize up to $10,000. The program, which runs until July 9, 2009, allows customers who make a $1 donation in any Giant Food store to receive a Triple Winner game ticket. One hundred percent of donations received from Giant Food customers for the Triple Winner program will directly benefit The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University of Medicine and the Children’s Cancer Foundation. Triple Winner is one of the most successful cause marketing programs in the country and this year, Giant has committed to raise $1.5 million.
Thank you for your time. Let me know if you can mention this on your blog so the community knows how to go out and support Triple Winner.
Best,

By Rush Limbaugh:
I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're
going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.? If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.
Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.
Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough.?Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.? Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers. (Actually, soldiers are put in harms way by politicians and commanding officers.)
We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.
You see where e this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing. Make sense?
However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.
I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

Elderly Woman Writes Her Bank
Dear Sir:
I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavored to pay my plumber last month.
By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honor it. I know this because the time code stamped on the refused check and my automatic deposit are the same.
By "automatic deposit" I refer, of course, to the direct electronic monthly deposit of my entire pension; an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only eight years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account $30 by way of penalty for the inconvenience
caused to your bank. My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways.
I noticed that whereas I personally answer your telephone calls and letters, --- when I try to contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become.
From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal with aflesh -and-blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will therefore and hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank, by check, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate.
Be aware that it is an offense under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact which I require your chosen employee to complete.
I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is no alternative. Please note that all copies of his or her medical history must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the
mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof.
In due course, at MY convenience, I will issue your employee with a PIN number which he/she must quote in dealings with me.
I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modeled it on the number of button presses required of me to access my account balance on your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Let me level the playing field even further.
When you call me, press buttons as follows:
IMMEDIATELY AFTER DIALING, PRESS THE STAR (*) BUTTON FOR ENGLISH
#1. To make an appointment to see me.
#2. To query a missing payment.
#3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.
#4.. To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping.
#5.. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature.
#6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home.
#7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer is required. Password will be communicated to you at a later date to that Authorized Contact mentioned earlier.
#8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 7.
#9. To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service.
#10. This is a second reminder to press* for English. While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the duration of the call.
Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement.
May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year?
Your Humble Client!
