Incident: Child Neglect
Date of Incident: 2 July 2009
Location: 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Amadou NMN Samb, 39, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 2 July 2009 at 3:22 PM, a deputy responded to an apartment building in the 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive for the report of two young children left home alone. Upon the deputy’s arrival, it was discovered that the building maintenance man had knocked on the door to one of the apartments and discovered a five and three year old home alone. During the ensuing investigation, the deputy discovered the children’s father had left the residence earlier in the afternoon, well aware that the two children were going to be by themselves. The parents of the children returned home while the deputy was present.

The father, Amadou Samb, was arrested by the deputy and transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Samb was detained in the Detention Center in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.

Charges:
Confining Unattended Child (2 counts)
Reckless Endangerment (2 counts)

  1. Really, where could this guy be going that he couldn't possibly be taking his children. Anything could have happened to these children, thankfully they were found. Throw the book!

  5. What moron leaves a 3 and 5 year old home alone? Thank goodness he was caught!
I'm sure he could have found someone to sit with them for a short time if he really couldn't take them with him.
Thank you Mr. Maintenance Man for doing the right thing!
