Jackson's Mom Loses Control Of Estate
A judge said Monday that Michael Jackson's longtime attorney and a family friend should take over the pop singer's estate for now, rejecting a request from Jackson's mother to be put in charge.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff backed attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, who had been designated in Jackson's 2002 will as the people he wanted to administer his estate. Attorneys for the pop singer's mother repeatedly objected to their appointment at Monday's court hearing.
Jackson died June 25, deeply in debt. But a court filing estimates that his estate will be worth more than $500 million. His assets are destined for a private trust.
The singer's mother, Katherine Jackson, had applied to oversee her son's estate, but that was before the will surfaced. Her attorney, Burt Levitch, expressed concerns about McClain and Branca's financial leadership.
Levitch told Beckloff that Branca had previously been removed from financial positions of authority by Jackson. Branca's attorney says he was rehired by Jackson on June 17, days before Jackson's death.
GEE, Hasnt his family made enough money off him.... What a shame they cant now. Great move by the Judge, maybe some of his bills will get paid off now. What a loser...
ReplyDeleteYeah... ya think they were trying to milk it even more... there are reasons why Joe Jackson was excluded.
ReplyDeleteWait til they try for a MJ national holiday.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame. It's his own flesh and blood. It's his mother for sake's. Put yourselves in the position
ReplyDelete4:15 PM - Very well put - I agree.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that "normal" people give a shi- about all this.
ReplyDeleteI think I should be in charge of the estate.
ReplyDeleteUh, is Jackson still dead?
Michael has left Neverland! Does that mean its not neverland?
ReplyDeleteI guess he grew up after all, Hey Michael tell Peter Pan I said HI!
You lived in a fantasy world, if you want to really see what a shame is like, it is a shame that his parents were allowed to abuse, us all the kids for money. This is why Michael grew up like he did.
What was a talented kid, or kids. turned out to be very sick kids. Joe Jackson is the one who should be punished.
I'm tired of all the Michael Jackson stuff on TV ; this guy looked like something out of that intergalactic bar in the 1st "Starwars" movie and gave some kid's parents 20 million dollars to drop child molestation charges.Bury him and move on.
ReplyDeleteMaybe his estate should go to pay his creditors, you know, like regular people have to do and whats left to his kids in trust. His mother is looking out for herself.
ReplyDeleteThey probably wanted to get their hands on to all the Beetles stuff M.J. had control of. That stuff has to be worth millions by itself.
ReplyDeleteI demand a National Day of Mourning!
ReplyDeletehow many days before his death was this lawyer "reinstated"? On whose word?
ReplyDeleteTOO CONVENIENT!
No matter who's attorney wins they will make sure there isn't anything left for anyone.
ReplyDeleteAll of the Beatles music can only be bought by the parent company owning the other 50%, Sony. Micheal didn't own 100% of that music, he owned 50%.
ReplyDeletehe sold his "SONY catalogs" now that was worth a fortune.
ReplyDeleteWonder who owns the other half?
ReplyDeleteNeverland was only half owned by Michael but they said his worth in assets is over 500 million...i think they need to pay his bills b4 anybody gets anything...money grubbing lawyers....family is out for them selves to but i do think his mother would more look out 4 the children more than those lawyers would...another Anna Nicole Smith everybody trying to get their hands on that money....its a sad shame....RIP Michael...May the Lord have mercy on you so that you truely can rest in peace.....
