7 US Troops Killed In Afghanistan

KABUL (July 6) - Bombs and bullets killed seven American troops on Monday, the deadliest day for U.S. forces in Afghanistan in nearly a year — and a sign that the war being fought in the Taliban heartland of the south and east could now be expanding north.

Separately, Taliban militants claimed on a militant Web site that they were holding an American soldier whom the U.S. military says insurgents might have captured last week. The Taliban statement, however, did not include any proof, such as a picture or the soldier's name.
Four of the deaths Monday came in an attack on a team of U.S. military trainers in the relatively peaceful north, bringing into focus the question of whether the U.S. is committing enough troops to secure a country larger than Iraq in both population and land mass.

  6. Where's Code Pink, ANSWER, and the other anti-war groups that were moaning and screaming for the last 8 years and got constant coverage by the MSM? Oh yeah, their guy won so you don't hear a peep out of them anymore. Silly me.

  7. Talk about another Vietnam ask the Russians who lost over 35,000 men. How many Afgans were on the planes used on 9/11.Where are the liberal anti-war protestors now? I say pull out now and let the Taliban craw back into their caves.

  8. I agree with 7:02! Pull out now, Save A LOT of money, help our economy and let them blow themselves up over there! I know it is ignorant for me to say, but who gives a shit anymore? We are pouring money into a worthless war and we are no where near any good results. It's money and lives that we will never get back! We have the technology and resources to simply put up the "iron curtain" around the U.S. - we should do just that and protect the homeland!

  9. You people are stupid and it's obvious that you know NO ONE who has served or is serving in Afghanistan. Did you watch the news on September 11, 2001? Iraq you can argue, Afghanistan you cannot. Go back to your boring desk job and stick your head back in the blog while the real men and women get the job done. Losers.

  10. Oh, and by the way, you should know that THOUSANDS of people are being killed right here in America, on our Mexican border, far more than in Afghanistan.

  11. 8:20 AM, unfortunately I do know people that have served, are serving, and have died in Iran and Afghanistan. This war on "terrorism" has been going on for nearly 8 years. You CAN NOT stop terrorism; however, you can help prepare and prevent it. Going off and searching the desert for a few people isn't going to solve anything-it is simply going to blow away money and time. That effort and investment are much needed elsewhere...here at home! You can not simply kill off a belief or group off-look at Hitler, his persecution of the Jews was the largest genocide in the history of the world and the Jews are still here today.

Like I said at 8:18 AM, Leave the war over there and protect the homeland. Had we been doing that effectively on 9/11/01 then we would not be in this situation right now.

And by-the-way 8:20 AM, it seems as though the ones with "the boring desk job" also lost their lives and loved ones on 9/11. You may consider yourself a "real man" but to me you are an ignorant sack of sh!t for the way you present yourself

  12. Lets see the Afgans have no long range missles, no air force, no navy and no standing army but according to some responders they are more of a threat to the USA and their neighbors then Iraq was, how ironic.

  13. No stop until Bin Laden is killed or captured. Obama pledged this during his campaign. This mass murderer must be brought to justice. God Bless the Commander in Chief.

  14. 8:51 - you're way off he mark. The US pulls out and the country falls and our children are stuck going back in 20 years. You are clueless and uneducated about the real happenings in Afghanistan. Of course, I can't blame you for that, that's truly the fault of the liberal media who defines our soldiers, seamen and airman as hate mongors. And if you think Obama is going to pull from Iraq and Afghanistan and just come home, you're in La-La Land. You can be certain he has other plans.
