Major Accident In Pasonsburg

Major accident in Parsonsburg on Dagsboro Road. They're shutting down the road, 5
ambulances on route and calling in a Helicopter. I'm told 2 people were killed. More to come.

Two young men died from one vehicle. The people in the other vehicle involved are OK.

You Have To Wonder About Some People

Last night, GA and I were testing something out on Blogger and we put up a "Test Post" with nothing to it. Today on Blognetnews, look what's the #1 clicked on article. Dee, Dee, Deeee! ROTFLMAO! Should I put up another one that just says, IDIOTS?

Body Found

The Police are on their way to a Shed on Siloam Road off of Riverside Drive Extended. Allegedly someone found the body a Co Worker in a shed. Police are having a difficult time finding the exact location and it's too early to tell what happened to the person inside. No, I'm not driving out there to find out either.

Daily Times OR Salisbury News?

GO HERE and see what's new at the Daily Times. Things that make you go hmmmmm!

Donations, Donations, Donations, Then Comes More Taxes

The Salisbury Fire Department wants your money. There's a possibility Bill Ahtes and Co. may be knocking on your door because they need $5,000,000.00 when another Theater some 4+ miles away will open in Delmar to compete with the Pipe Dream in Salisbury. Then there's of course the $36,000,000.00 the Salisbury Zoo wanted. The Fire Department just screwed the taxpayers out of $10,000,000.00 and now they want a $800,000.00 Fire Boat to protect those VERY FEW homeowners on the river. The Zoo just got a commitment for $500,000.00 towards a building they haven't raised a penny for yet to show good faith on their behalf. Let's not forget the Library is now being targeted for relocation and the City is loving it because they want to relocate City Hall there at the County's expense. Oh, did I forget to mention they have Station 16 they could retrofit?

Cigarette taxes just went through the roof. A barrel of oil just went over the $100.00 mark. O'Bite Me Malley just raised State Taxes up to 6% and now they're saying the jobless rate just rose above 5%!

Since the City of Salisbury is so rich and there's millions upon millions of dollars just floating around, what the hell, right?

I feel for this woman coming in as the new Director of the Salisbury Zoo because you know what Folks, we're tapped out! The City just got a 14% Tax Increase and quite frankly if you haven't had enough I can assure you there's much more to come. Barrie Tilghman will drive everything she can through before she's thrown out of Office in about a year or so.

Duvall points all his fingers at Rick Pollitt while he's been closing his eyes to all of the BS going on right under his nose in the City. Has he turned to the dark side? Looks that way and it's a shame because these Blogs were all supposed to be about YOU! I do all of this to educate those of you who can't be there and can't find the time to bring all of this information to you. The Daily Times won't do it and I think it's a damn shame Old Billy has turned on everyone and joined the Tilghman Team.

I shouldn't close without also saying, where the hell is Bill Reddish too? He has a voice that could make a positive difference but I haven't heard a thing in many months from that man.

As I wish this new Director the best of luck, her timing couldn't be worse. There's nothing left and no one believes the Zoo is worth it any more. The Fire Department, well, they're just all screwed up and they still have their hands out. Hey, if you're that stupid to give more, God Bless You. Bill Ahtes should walk into the Council Work Session with a 55 Gallon Drum of Vaseline and rubber gloves because he's about to screw everyone who is a partner in the old Fire Station 16.

"Thank you.
I was with the girl who lost it. We were taking advantage of the architecture on the plaza for a photo shoot. We were shooting a lot of luggage and got distracted.

"4:30 p.m. Presentation of study on future use of Fire Station #16 – Bill
Ahtes/Memo Diriker"

Just look at the language provided by the City Government. They're already speaking as if this IS the future of what will happen to the old Station 16.

So when I got in front of the Council and asked them where things stood on this building a few weeks ago, they responded, NOTHING!

Obviously NOTHING means, we're waiting for Bill Ahtes. They have NEVER asked me for any other proposal, other than my purchase offer price, which is getting stronger and stronger for the City as real estate values continue to take a dive.

My offer is still $250,000.00 CASH. My intention would be to put an All-You-Can-Eat Seafood Restaurant in that location with the kitchen in the lowest level. The dining area in the main street level and a bar in the upstairs level. It would continue the Fire Department Decor, similar to Station 7 in Pittsville.

I'm told we'll hear something later today from GA about the actual study performed by Memo Diriker and what a joke that is too. Nevertheless, the point here Ladies & Gentlemen is, are you truly going to let two or three elected Council Members take a valuable building and GIVE it to Ahtes and that arts group, who has a track record of screwing people out of their donations as well as getting a building donated and then claim they can't get it done so they go out and sell it for a 100% profit?

Then there's the other thought of, why the hell is the City even considering this building as surplus? Barrie Tilghman has been bitching for years that they don't have enough space in the GOB, so why the hell aren't you retrofitting this building when it's FREE? Can someone PLEASE tell me why there's never been a practical politician in office? Why in the hell do they have to spend everything and raise taxes? If these people weren't so stupid and out of control, the City would be in much better shape than it is.

Get on here, even under anonymous and state how you feel about this. I personally believe it's a serious issue and I also believe Barrie Tilghman and Gary Comegys are screwing the taxpayers again trying to make people believe we need a theater. It's BS. It raises no tax revenue. They get a free ride for at least 6 years. At least if I opened a restaurant it would create about 50 jobs and I'd ask for no real tax breaks other than possibly being in an enterprise zone.

One Year Ago Today

Mayor Barrie Tilghman and Daughter K.C. Tilghman were out and about trying to take advantage of the after the holiday deals locally. When Barrie heard everything was 50% off, she literally took 50% off.

Answers To The Lawn Mower Races

Westside Tractor Races

The Westside Community Center (WSCC) is a facility owned and operated by
Wicomico County (Dept. of Recreation Parks and Tourism). A citizen’s
advisory board known as the Westside Advisory Council was established in
1977 to set policy, adopt the budget and develop programs. The county
contributes a full time center director and maintenance man. The board
raises funds to pay for the full operation of the center.

The Tractor Race event was established in 2005 as a fundraiser for WSCC
and netted about $200 that first year. The event has been organized by a
citizen’s committee (made up of volunteers, members of the community at
large and WS advisory Board members) known as the Tractor Race Committee.
In 2006, the committee made several changes in order to make the event
more profitable. They added the Reason to Ride Bike Show to the event and
brought in outside vendors to handle the food and beverages. The 2006 and
2007 events did make money each year.

The following are observations of the Westside Advisory Council and the
staff following this year’s tractor races:
• Terry Scott, the event committee chairman, resigned and was the person
who did most of the work for the lawn tractor race portion of the event.
• The tractor races continued to grow in number but so did many of the
expenses. A major increase was from the racing group (ARMA), who doubled
their fee from $1,500 to $3,000.
• The committee struggled to get enough volunteers to plan and run the
event. The burden fell largely on same few people straining county
employees and volunteers alike.
• The growth of the event also increased the Department of Recreation &
Parks workload where over 500 man hours were spent to stage the event
annually due to the unique needs of the lawn tractor portion of the event.
• The lawn tractor races had become more expensive and labor intensive to
conduct while the motorcycle show portion was far more profitable and much
easier to administer. Despite increased advertising and other efforts,
attendance did not increase above the 2006 event and the 2007 event netted
in $6,800 ($1,000 less that the year before).
Less than 10% of the net revenue was generated by the tractor races
illustrating a minimal return on the investment. The Bike Show side of the
event brought in nearly $6,000 in sponsors, registration fees, and raffle
items without any additional expenses.
• The open area used for the event over the past 3 years will be developed
into a recreational park in the early spring and the track space will not
be available.

On December 10, 2007, at the WS Advisory Board’s regular meeting, the
group decided to not continue the tractor race aspect of the event. It
will continue with the less labor intensive and more profitable aspects of
the event which were food, entertainment and the motorcycle show.

I'd like to thank Rick Pollitt & Jim Finneran for getting this information for me/us.
