If you haven't seen these two articles from Foxnews.com or in the general news, these sets of photos are pretty intense!
This set is of a Marine taking cover from fire from Afghanistan - http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,356574,00.html
And this is a photographer who got stuck by a javelin - http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,356661,00.html
Thanks to Foxnews.com!
where was his body armor?
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of the Marine with his m-60 machine gun. Bet he had given the Taliban a lot to think about just before this return fire came in on his position!
ReplyDeleteA. Goetz
That is not an m-60. It is an m-16. While there are still m-60s in the Marine Corps inventory, there are very few. They were replaced by the M-240G.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, the picture of the guy with the javelin through his leg is a Marine as well. Only a Marine would consider taking a picture of a javelin sticking out of his leg...OO-RAH!
ReplyDeleteWhy is the basic assumption that all soldiers and Marines must be wearing body armor? It is not as common as everyone thinks, and a lot of soldiers do not like it as it is bulky and awkward. So, it's possible he didn't want to wear it.
ReplyDeleteThe basic assumption that all Marines and soldiers should be wearing body armor is because wearing it saves lives. It is more uncomfortable to be wounded or dead than it is to have to deal with bulky or awkward gear.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, there may be a legitimate reason why this Marine and the one pictured in the background were not wearing any of their "battle rattle." I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
