The Oldest Living Salisbury Resident

I was recently told something I found very interesting. The gentleman on the left of the photo above is none other than Mr. George Chevalier, the oldest living resident of the City of Salisbury.

Now I have known this Gentleman for a few years now and have found him to be one of the kindest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and knowing. Of course he'd be considered one of the "Dirty Dozen" by the current administration but to me he's by far the most knowledgeable historians Salisbury has. I just thought I'd share this with all of you.

Oh, and Mr. Holland sitting to his right, he too is one of the "Dirty Dozen" and another one of the finest examples of a human being on this earth.

  1. These two gentlemen-- Messrs. Holland and Chevalier-- are true Salisbury Treasures. The stories these two can tell are fascinating.
Both are so intelligent, insightful (and pretty darn cute).

  2. In Bubba speak these two fine upstanding citizens would be considered CAVE men.

I'm proud to know these fine gentlemen, they are truly an asset to this city.

    Thanks for all you do.

  4. Just so folks aren't confused, Mr. Chevalier is the oldest lifetime resident of Salisbury (there are older folks living here, like in Mallard Landing).

Mr. Chevalier has never lived outside the Salisbury City Limits.

His association with the Wicomico Historical Trust is a jewel, because he himself is a treasure of history.

Mr. Kenneth Holland is another treasure. Those who "get" what Mr. Holland is saying when he takes to the podium know he is a voice of homespun common sense.

Unfortunately for Salisbury, there are too many in charge who don't see the value in citizens like these.

    Bless you both, good sirs!

  5. Too funny! George is the oldest living resident in the city of Salisbury? !!!My husband and I have know him for more years than we can count and we are young, we think. I bet my husband could beat George on the age thing. Thank God we don't live in the city though ~~~ Good Going George. You need to keep those city people in line a little better. Is that Mr. Nick Holland with him ? Inquiring Minds want to know.

  8. George Chevalier is hardly the oldest living person in Salisbury however, he is the longest living resident of Salisbury having never lived outside city limits.

Bless your heart Mr. Chevalier, you are better than I am. Although I can say I have never lived inside city limits. LOL

  10. Mr. Chevalier, Mr. Holland and Mr. Trader rate high on my list of people that grew up here and make it to almost every public meeting they can, city and county. Also the Kents, Dot, Kate, Karen, Donna, Bob C., Bob T., G.A., Jim and Tim S. and many others that just don't come to mind while sitting here typing.

I hadn't seen Mr. Trader in so long I thought he had just gotten sick of it and called it quit's.

I should have known better, I did watch the last council meeting at home on PAC-14 and heard him say he was recovering from open heart surgery, and STILL showed up~!

I have been in hiding ever since "The great Sandstorm debate of 2008." Boy I took a whomping Heheh LoL no, I'll see you tomorrow, I may be a little last but I will be there.

    I still remember.
He lived across the street from my Uncle on church st.
Great to see & hear of him, again.

    Keep on trucking!!!!!
