Trump makes his nomination of Amy Coney Barrett official

President Donald Trump on Saturday formally nominated Amy Coney Barrett to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court, with about five weeks left until Election Day.

“I looked, and I studied, and you are very eminently qualified for this job,” Trump told Barrett as he made the announcement. “You are going to be fantastic.”

Barrett, a 48-year-old judge on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, follows an extreme brand of conservatism that makes her a particularly polarizing choice.

Speaking from the White House Rose Garden, Trump praised Barrett’s credentials, which included a clerkship with the late Justice Antonin Scalia, and noted that her confirmation would make her the first mother of school-aged children ever to serve on the Supreme Court.

“This should be a straightforward and prompt confirmation. Good luck,” Trump said. “I’m sure it will be very quick.”
Barrett said she was ”truly humbled” by the nomination and pledged to ”be mindful of who came before me” if confirmed. Ginsburg, Barrett said, led a “great American life” in which she “won the admiration of women across the country and, indeed, all over the world.”

  5. This is going to put a stop to the Democrats attempt to overthrow the constitution through legislation from the bench. If Democrats had kept their left-leaning majority on the court, they would finally achieve their goal of getting rid of the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights has no place in their vision of a socialist America. Trump, win or lose, has changed the course of America for decades to come. He has left a mark far bigger than the one that the first black president made. In four years, no less. Trump, the right president, at the right time. God and the voters saved us from Hillary and the Democrats in the last election. I could really go for another 4 years of Trump. Regardless, Trump did exactly what he said he would do, in spite of the massive interference by the Democrats. And like Trump predicted, their heads are exploding. They are going stark raving mad. They are incensed beyond any credibility. Pelosi is developing nervous tics, she's so overcome with seething hate for our president. And yet my neighbors, many of who are educators in our schools, have Biden signs in their yards.
