As OC Bike Week Approaches, Know What You Are Dealing With In Advance

If you are a motorcycle enthusiast then you know Bike Week 2020 is still alive. Even though Bike Week and Bike Week Delmarva suspended the entertainment and vendors, bikers are still planing to come to Ocean City in large numbers.

There's a catch though and everyone needs to be aware of what to expect. There are NO SPECIAL EVENT LICENSES being disbursed to any bar/restaurant. This means, no open container licenses in which you could drink anywhere on the premises/parking lots.

Traditionally Trader Lee's and Caribbean Joe's were able to use such a license and quite frankly it makes absolutely no sense at all. Why would the County want to cram people INSIDE a building when this license would allow far better social distancing.

Fortunately for Caribbean Joe's we have three bars, two of them outdoors. When you look at other establishments they'll be confined to indoor use, MINUS 50% of their normal capacity.

So when the OC Bars/Restaurants follow the rules and IF the bikers come to town in the volume I believe they will, there's going to be long lines and frustrated patrons.

    1. Caribbean Joe’s is the best damn place to catch CV19 on the Eastern Shore and only second to Sturgis in America! Rock on! Plenty of ventilators at AGH and PRMC!

  2. Trader Lee's most certainly does have an outside bar and you know it Joe. It was there that bike week you were involved back in 2017.

    2. If you don’t know what will pop up in the next couple weeks, you need to get a clue. I’m not in O.C. and am aware of a few events after the ones mentioned.

  4. So let me ask a question. If we can open up schools and cram 30 kids inside one little room day in and day out, why can't bars and restaurants open up to their fullest too? This is where confusion comes in for me. If covid is an issue, and a danger in bars and restaurants how is it not an issue in schools? This is where it makes it very hard to not see covid as a conspiracy. Or at least a virus that could be dangerous being used to manipulate a system and destroy small business.

    1. Oh you think there’s education going on in public schools? Clearly you’re mentally comprised

    2. I didn't say just bars, I said bars and restaurants. Many people go to a bar to have a drink, eat a meal and socialize. Not everyone gets drunk. Plus it is about choice and rights. Probably education happens at a bar as well. Good and bad.

This isn't about getting an education. If education was truly your concern, your child would not be in a public school system. This is about understanding the government over stepping the rules and controlling people. Redistributing the money. The rich getting richer and destroying small business. I'm sure they were not thinking about the masses of people who they have used fear to control would choose homeschooling their children, sending them to private school or realizing the system sucks and their kids are not as smart as the report card said they were. Where else do you teach liberal idealisms and build an army from within that you can control besides with all the little children while the parents sleep at the wheel. History repeats itself yet again. You can label me anything you would like if it makes you feel better. But when you are done name calling you should really use that nasty to figure out that one day they will come for you too, liberal.

    3. So it is worth the risk of death (if you believe covid is an issue in businesses) in the schools for in person teaching because education is more important then the risk of death? There is nothing wrong with online schooling. If businesses are unsafe, so are schools. Actually worse. It doesn't fit the agenda. Why do you think Hogan had his little press conference demanding schools to open, and then had to go to stage 3? He is the reason schools couldn't open in the first place. Open it all up. This isn't about getting drunk. This is about preventing people from making a living and destroying an economy. And education will be worthless if the economy crashes.

  5. 8:57 If the virus breaks out in schools, then the vaccine is crammed down our throats. Students are the test animals, and will be with the vaccine. Meanwhile, destroying small businesses is still a key to the success of those pushing this entire debacle. It's the same as "Church gatherings? No. Violent protests? Yes." Make sense now?

  6. Adjust accordingly I suppose. We welcome these after season events since the majority come for enjoyment and show that by being generous to the hospitality industry.

A few bad apples seem to get more attention than deserved. We are a resort town and some forget that. Without events (which help everyone live accordingly) well we are seeing how this summer's damage will last indefinitely.

Better City control/responsibility is needed to help with the bad publicity and that starts with doing our civic duty the first Tuesday in November.

If the weather is unfavorable (like prior years) hell this prep maybe all for not.

    Stay Safe!

  8. 8:57 here's your explanation. Parents are tired of taking care of their kids and Trump wants to pretend like we are past the virus even though we aren't. Putting kids back in school makes people feel more like things have returned to normal. Kids are less likely to carry the virus. Places where only adults flock are statistically more likely to have someone who is positive in them. Bars especially are a terrible idea because alcohol, as we all know, makes you more relaxed. We all know people don't wash their hands in the first place.

  9. Congrats 9:07 you read the other article on this blog. You realize a government telling it's citizens not to protest is pointless right? Meanwhile it's all the religious nuts who think their God will protect them from a virus and that science is wrong. Make sense now?

    1. What religion has stated this ? You’re so focused on attacking those who dare to have different beliefs you failed to realize the bigot you’ve become . Your narrow mindedness has made you become what you think you’re fighting lol

    2. 9:18-Your stupidity is in overdrive this morning. Also, you're a moronic bigot. That's what makes sense!

    3. Man you people crack me up. What religion is teaching that God will protect them from getting a virus. I'm a religious nut and can promise you this is another false claim. It isn't about the government saying don't protest. It's that protest are not being condemned yet a business can't open. Come on. Look between the lines. Also, why are the cities being burnt run by democrats? This isn't about a peaceful protest, this is about an idealism burning down someone's business. Bet if they came and burnt your house down you would think different, having God or not. Wake up. Trump 20/20.

  10. Does the "Alcohol To Go" exemption allow them to drink on premise?

  11. The SAFE and AMERICAN thing to do is for the two bars in mention should CLOSE. Polling stations are mostly closed bars should be to.

If that is the case then we should be having outbreaks in all the cities that have seen riots and large protests over the last 100 days. Oh that's right those gatherings don't have to worry about the political driven Chinese Coronavirus. Go pound sand you fool.

  15. Do like Sturgis. Real simple. Mask up or mask down, your choice. Will they arrest thousands of bikers for drinking a beer or glass of wine outdoors? Still America?

  16. Not necessary 9:23.

  17. We need to get kids back into schools. The virus has mutated enough that severe cases aren't being had. Look at the way they calculate the rates and statistics, statistics are skewed most of the time to dictate what they want the results to be. I have had family contract the virus and we need to move on. The lethality of the virus is no longer a crisis. We need to move on and get on with our lives.

  19. 8:44, You need to get your facts straight. While Trader Lee's has a boarded up window in the back of the building it is never open unless they get a special event permit. This year is different because they, (nor anyone else) did not get that license. Everyone will be packed inside that building like sardines, yet they can only have 50% occupancy. It's very unfortunate for ALL businesses subjected to this BS pandemic. The county will be keeping very close tabs on bars, kind of like massive volume of cops on Rt. 50 during holiday weekends. The fines will be outrageous.

  25. 1:25, not bars and restaurants. Rebel, not possible. We spoke with the liquor board and they said absolutely not. We can sell to go drinks but they'd have to leave our establishment on Rt. 50.
