12-year-old suspended after teacher spots toy gun during virtual class

A 12-year-old boy in Colorado got a five-day suspension for flashing a toy gun across his computer screen during an online art class, according to a report.

The toy gun was neon green and black with an orange tip featuring the words on the handle: “Zombie Hunter.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said although the teacher thought it was a toy gun authorities still did a welfare check on Isaiah Elliott without parental notification.

“It was really frightening and upsetting for me as a parent, especially as the parent of an African-American young man, especially given what’s going on in our country right now,” Curtis Elliott, Isaiah’s father, told KDVR.

“The virtual setting is not the same as the school setting,” the dad added. “He did not take the toy gun to school. He’s in the comfort of his own home. It’s a toy.”

The Grand Mountain school said in a statement: “We follow all school board policies whether we are in-person learning or distance learning. We take the safety of all our students and staff very seriously. Safety is always our number one priority.”

  1. I want the teacher, the internet service connection company, the toy company and the school principal to be publicly shamed bank accounts drained and fired immediately. I also want everyone to kneel after being fired. But wear a mask.

  2. No, that's called a home invasion and is illegal. A toy gun is a toy and in no way should be cause of a home invasion.

Time for homeschooling and a refund of the 73% of our tax money so we can hire our own teachers.

  3. Aren't teacher's wonderful?? They can call police on a kid via Skype. But if 10 thugs beat one kid. She turns her head. Another thug doing drugs in the school bathroom. She turns her head. Aren't teacher's wonderful??? Over paid. Overly vacationed. With FAILED test scores and graduation rates. Aren't teacher's wonderful??

  4. Had to thrown that Africa identity in on the picture. I’ve seen this nonsense before, where a toy had been seen by a teacher and color wasn’t mentioned. I will assume it happened to a White family too. What is the difference as the fat failure would say? The black will sue and ripp the tax payer off, while the White will complain and be told to get screwed.

  6. 11:06 PM - Your English teacher didn't get you to figure out how to use an apostrophe, so, no, all teachers aren't wonderful, or even adequate.

  9. Having grown up in a different era, while we still had good and bad teachers, we had RESPECT. As students we followed the rules and classrooms were orderly, organized, and quiet. Bad behavior at school was also dealt with at home by strict parents who cared. Shameful what our schools are today and our youth are the victims of radical teachers and radical curriculum.

  11. I have already let my children and most of their teachers know, while on my laptops, in my home, with my internet, these teachers are guests in my home, and will act accordingly. Now, my children will be "learning" in their respective rooms, not in front of the gun safe etc. If by chance the teachers see/hear something they do not agree with, they are free to excuse themselves from the zoom class.

  12. Northwest Woodsman: Another example of bed wetting Marxist democrats interfering in our lives. Think about the ramifications of electing these pedomarxists into positions with even more power to interfere in your life! Think about it. I love this site, however, with the exception of a few stray pedomarxists that occasionally make a ridiculous and outrageous comment, I feel that i am preaching to the choir.

  14. BLM can assault police and citizens, loot and burn businesses and they aren’t arrested. But a young boy with a fake pistol in his own home is suspended and is national news.
