Ocean City Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision


OCEAN CITY, MD – (June 15, 2020): The Ocean City Police Department is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred overnight on Monday, June 15, 2020, at approximately 12:08 a.m. at 19th Street and Baltimore Ave.

The pedestrian, Kirk A. Hilton, 66, Berlin, MD was crossing Baltimore Avenue in the crosswalk. The vehicle that struck the victim was traveling southbound on Baltimore Avenue at the time of the collision. Lifesaving efforts were initiated by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department and Ocean City EMS. Hilton was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. The driver has been identified as Cole A. Allen, 18, Smock, PA.

The Ocean City Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is handling the investigation. Preliminary investigation determined that alcohol, drugs and speed was not a contributing factor to the collision. Charges are pending for Smock.
