A Viewer Writes: Traffic backed up past Nanticoke Rd.

So everyone knows, Fitzwater Street is closed as well as other streets in the City of Salisbury, therefore Rt. 50 traffic is a real bear this morning. I can tell you that NO parking areas have ANY vehicles in them at this time, so it's not from visitors coming to the Festival. Find other routes to get where you're going.

  1. LOL wait until this afternoon! I'm not laughing at all the people stuck in traffic but at the disregard of the people who's money paid for this FUBAR look at what I have done for Salisbury re election time.

  2. I guess someone forgot to plan the traffic control.

  4. I looked at the schedule and it is the same handful of bands playing all weekend, over and over again. This whole FUBAR has been a lie. He advertised 300 artists and he is nowhere near that.

No one is going to make a "weekend" out of this. If you go Sat you have seen everything that is going to happen Fri and Sun.

Anyone who paid for a hotel room should ask for a refund

  5. Its all due to Mill st being closed. I think people will figure out the meaning of clusterf**k this afternoon.

  6. My husband just called and told me NOT to come into town. He said the traffic is horrific. He said there is no order, and no one directing traffic , its pure hell trying to maneuver getting past the festival area. Apparently the planners screwed up by not knowing what to do with the hard working people trying to get to work this morning. Unorganized events suck!

  7. My coworker's wife works at the hospital (PRMC) and he just told me that they closed the employee parking lot to use as parking for VIP guests of the National Folk Festival. The hospital employees were told that they were on their own to find parking. Isn't that nice? Lets prioritize some random hippies over those that will be providing the festival-goers medical attention when/if all hell breaks loose.

  8. I heard today from a volunteer that parking in every lot will be 20.00 per day.Not sure but it makes sense with that jackass mayor.

  9. I just got back from running errands. My advice is to stay clear of downtown and surrounding areas. It is a total cluster.

  13. I see all the local gas stations and convenience stores raised their gas prices Thursday. When WAWA raises their gas price all others raise their prices too. Guess WAWA is the standard. What does every gas station get gas the same day as WAWA. Thought this was price gouging.

  15. My son works on the Downtown plaza and his boss told him and everyone to plan to leave an hour early to get to work on time for this Folk (joke) festival.

Should be an adventure for him to get home this evening. Some in his office are taking the day off because of this.

  16. Unless you're going to the festival, its best to avoid Salisbury until it is over and cleaned up.

  20. @ September 7, 2018 at 9:39, Plus what does a Mexican band have to do with an AMERICAN folk festival? No way in hell are they part of American heritage. I guess the good ole boy club here in Salisbury want to cater to the illegals like WBOC did with that hispanic channel. We speak English here in America and they cater to Spanish speaking people and no other languages. Why not a Tagalog channel for the Philippine people here or hindi channel for those from India, WBOC. After all, they DID come here LEGALLY. This folk festival is going to be a pain in the azz. This is being done solely for the business owners here. To fatten their wallet.
