Volunteer Firefighters Want Nothing To Do With Jake Day & His Folked Festival

Preparing for the 4th of July Fireworks at Perdue Stadium, Salisbury Maryland Mayor Jake Day reached out to the Volunteer Fire Police for traffic and crowd control through the Volunteer Fire Police.

At least TEN Volunteers parted that evening from their friends and Family to help support the event. When they arrived, (as requested) they were turned away and told they were no longer needed.

No one contacted them in advance so they could spend their time with Family & Friends, they just screwed all of them.

Now Jake Day is trying to pull together another CYA meeting with the Volunteers desperately needing Volunteers for his Folked Festival and the Volunteers want nothing to do with this guy. It's all crumbling apart right before his very eyes and I'm sure he'll act like a typical inexperienced Liberal and pass all the blame on others. However, I think at this point everyone is starting to see the guy for who he really is, a child in a man's job.

Homeland Security and the Director of the National Folk Festival do not believe Day when it comes to the actual amount of Volunteers they claim they have for this event and as I stated in another article, they want Day to start HIRING people to help them run this event.

Jake, you might be able to push the paid Firefighters around BUT the Volunteers, not going to happen. You burned that bridge, pull out your wallet because your going to have to pay for it.

You mean pull out our wallets. We the taxpayers will have to foot the bill. Jake Day doesn't pay taxes, his daddy pays them for him.

  9. I checked the volunteer lists today and they have a request for a bucket brigade. They want people to walk around with a bucket soliciting donations for the “free”
festival. I don’t recall going to any town that had any kind of festival and seeing people walking around with buckets wanting money. Will be interesting to see what exactly is printed on those buckets that would intice people to throw in a couple of bucks.

  10. Does anyone really think this festival will happen? I do not. Such piss poor planning and lack of security and volunteers will cause this to be cancelled.

  11. Is this fiasco still going on??? I thought they had to cancel this because of the regulations given them from Homeland Security...What's gong on here?

  12. Didn’t Homeland Security tell Salisbury that the don’t have the necessary critical infrastructure lined up to handle this now? That they’d need at least another year to come close and that may not be enough? Ignoring that is big liability Jake. Huge.

Because they are not Conservatives. One is an idiot that is too stupid to choose a Party to join and the other one joins a Party and the idiots were too stupid to know he is a Libertarian and they give him money to run for office.

  18. Look i hate to be the voice of reason on this blog. But i ll take the wait n see attitude. Optimistic up front just because i dont want to see our city fail. Believe me im by no way a liberal im very much a conservative independent politically. Very much hate Days politics and the GOBs grip on this city course but i have to ask...How many peps come for bike week? And The other festivals we have here? Worst case for this folk fest is double that? Triple that? Or does it manitain the staus quo? If its spread out to various locations, does it lessens the burden on the locals and resources? Or create bigger logistic and security problems? I hope we dont have to say told you so, but wish all the local vendors good luck with bussiness bonaza they should reap from this? I am a 58 yo white collar guy and i ride n like bike week. Some dont like what that event brings to the area. So we are never going to please everyone. i just dont want to be that old fart and deny the younger crowd an event that could turn out to be just fine and benifical? Or a total horrific failure. Ill wait and see.

  19. Well if this fiasco is still on and won't be cancelled, and the city is completely ignoring what Homeland Security has said, we are just plain out and out asking for trouble. Why would a city ignore what experts say about such as this? What a mistake Salisbury, what a mistake!

  20. Again; why is the city even considering this festival? Homeland Security and ALL the REGS have NOT been and will NOT be met...The money will NOT be enough to cover costs. Crazy, nothing short of crazy!

  22. I moved away two years ago but was in town this past week. Looks like alot of unfinished construction near the river walk by hotel. Is that supposed to be for this festival?

  23. Maybe we will be saved from the worst (but not the cost) of this debacle by bad weather.

  24. If the lack of people visiting ocean City this year is any indication this festival will be a big disappointment
