That won't happen - or it will be much more difficult to happen - when all the shrubbery is completely installed. You aren't able to do this in the areas that are completed now.
Joe: I thought of that, too. But I have noticed that there are areas that do have plants and shrubbery in the median strip. (Maybe they crack through it for planting? I don't know.) On a positive note, the new lighting is very effective and the trees look real good. The fence has some kinks, but it was a necessary evil to erect it for the brain-dead vacationers that occupy the town during the summer.
7 Million Dollar waste!! ($350,000 Per Street) Just to deter idiots from crossing at places without crosswalks. As you see it works so well. I ride through town everyday and see people (some dragging small children)weaving through traffic on foot. Problem is the police turn a blind eye to it because "it's too much a pain in the butt to confront them". AND the ugly damn thing is White !! wait until you see it a few months from now. We spend all this money on stupid things like this yet we can't afford to spend 1 Million for our part of the much needed dredging of the inlet!!
The rails that where put up on 50 across from Arby's have NO IMPACT containers in front of them so dabury can look for a MASSIVE Lawsuit when some Idiot hits it HEAD ON.
A few days ago a kid scaled one somehow got tangled up and land in the street where he literally bounced like 2x's. He then got up and ran across the street. Thank God the lane didn't have a vehicle in it at the time. It scared the living daylights out of me this happening in broad daylight.
They stop and fined hot rods during "cruisin" week. But OCPD rides by these nuts and don't stop and fine them. They know it is happening so they hide and watch then once they cross without getting hit then they ride by.
Fencing and barriers are a true blessings, cross walks are there for a reason...so people can safely cross at properly equipped spots so that the risk of pedestrians getting hit just running across the street everywhere! Money well spent in Ocean City and Salisbury!
Stop blaming anyone but the Town Council for the screwups. The Council hires people under the guise of being experts then micromanages all the projects that come along. Hasn't it been that way for 40 years?
1053 "We" didn't spend diddly squat. The Government spent the money. "We" are not the government. "We" are subjects of the government and forfeit the fruits of our labor when the government "catches" us violating a statute such as Seat Belt Law, Speeding Law, DUI Law, so on.
Money well spent 325? 7 MILLION to prevent jaywalking. Oh gosh, lets spend 7 MILLION on a fence that will need to be replaced and cleaned each/every year to prevent deaths.
WELL 1 balcony jumper wasn't prevented death by the median wall! 1 motorcycle death today on 77th street wasn't prevented by the median wall. This will continue for the next several years until it will be relooked or the town is successfully sued.
There used to be a District Court judge by the name of Horsey. The guy was a real first class scoundrel. As a citizen, you could have rock solid case to defend oneself - but if the 'establishment (OC Police, municipal employees, or others) ever brought charges - there was a 99.9% chance that Judge Horsey would throw the book at you. That's just the way he was. I have seen him fine, incarcerate, and bully citizens like none other.
IMHO, OC would be one of the last places on GOD's green earth of my list to ever visit. The place is absolutely cursed!
These people are too fat or stupid to crawl under the fence.
ReplyDeleteThat won't happen - or it will be much more difficult to happen - when all the shrubbery is completely installed.

I wonder what council member got a kick back on that project $$$$$ ?
DeleteSound like Dabury and Jake Day?.
when these people are stopped an sufficiently fined maybe people will realize its an expensive law to break they will get a clue an stop.
ReplyDelete$1000 fine just like the speeders )
DeleteThis the dumbest idea ever and it isn't even Salisbury and we can't blame this one on Jake Day.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh really
DeleteThe rails that where put up on 50 across from Arby's have NO IMPACT containers in front of them so dabury can look for a MASSIVE Lawsuit when some Idiot hits it HEAD ON.
Nah...the dumbest idea ever is the orange bikes...closely followed by the folk festival. This is, at best, the THIRD dumbest idea.

ReplyDeleteThey were planting things down near Convention Center one day last week I saw.
ReplyDeleteCrack heroin weed hash ?
DeleteIf it wasn't littering I would suggest everyone through their left over lunch or dinner sodas at them.

ReplyDeleteThey need to be hit with $250 fines.
DeleteWhat did Ocean City do wrong. These idiots should be walking on the sidewalks.
ReplyDeleteOcean City should pass legislation making this illegal and have them arrested.

Should never have put up the fence. Would have been better and cheaper to put a $100 bounty on jaywalkers.
