Breaking News: In a televised meeting, President Trump stunned lawmakers by embracing gun control measures long opposed by the N.R.A. and many Republicans

Mr. Trump called for comprehensive gun control that would expand background checks, keep guns from the mentally ill, secure schools and restrict gun sales from some young adults. The move appeared to surprise giddy Democrats and stone-faced Republicans.

  2. Also people are saying that teens 18 are not Adults ??? Then don't let them Vote or go into the Military.

  3. Good. It is time. You do not need these weapons to hunt. Sorry, if you need an ar15 to kill a deer, you are a horrible shot. The founding fathers could never have fathomed of such weapons such as the ArmaLite/M16 civilian variant. And I am a gun owner and a teacher. We do not want to be armed. Look at what that nutjob in Georgia did today.

    Go Trump! MAGA

I think it was on this site that I saw the most brilliant response to your argument.

The second amendment was not written in case the deer turned against us.

    2. You think your AR-15 is gonna do squat against a tank, a cruise missile, or a drone? Think again, buddy. The only thing that type of rifle does is compensate for your lack of a certain “manhood” if you know what I mean

  4. 8:00 - So, you are a teacher? Then you should be smart enough to know why the constitution allows us to be armed. C'mon man/woman/it/they/them!!

Trump is not going to follow through wth this crap. He will throw a few bones, but that is it.He will beat s0r0s!

  5. The second amendment was not written because they thought the deer would rise up against us. It was written so we the people could protect ourselves from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Including our own government if need be. That is such a stupid argument that you don't need these weapons to kill deer. The deer are not who we need protecting from you stupid liberal idiots.

it doesn't matter what the founding fathers could or could not envision. and how you equate killing a deer with an ar-15 is a bad shot I have no idea. and I think it's a little arrogant for you to attempt to speak for all teachers, which we all know you don't. Newsflash: teachers in some states are ALREADY armed, regardless, it doesn't matter what you think.

  7. The don't need this or that firearm to hunt argument shocks me. It is shocking in that so many don't know history. Exactly the 2nd amendment had nothing to do with hunting. To put in plain English it was about killing tyrants if God forbid the need arises to overthrow the government. Those who understand this then use the argument that the people could never go against the US military. History has proven that much of the military could be trusted to stand with the people and go against the government. This is how many successful coups have occurred.

  8. It’s amazing what an absolute master President Trump is at pulling the rug out from under the democrat's hot-button issues. He accepts their bluff and ups the ante. He knows it’s the ‘issues’ they want, not solutions. His amnesty offer was the most obvious example, exposing for all but the most blind to see that it is the votes of illegals they want, not their right to live here legally.

With each passing month, I’m more & more impressed by what President Trump does. I love his Tweets.

  9. Then I should be able to have tanks and nukes. I mean, our government has them. How am I supposed to defend myself?

  10. @8:11pm, An AR-15 barely generates enough foot pounds of energy to assuredly take down a deer, however is accurate enough to do so with a well placed shot, however, as stated by other Commenters here, that's not why we own AR-15's.

We use them on squirrels and possibly on anyone trying to take away our Constitutional rights.

  12. If the government rolls out a tank against "we, the people", it's the beginning of THEIR end.
They don't have enough men or firepower to stop us from, uh, hanging them all.

Now you are wising up and finally showing some intelligence. The 2nd amendment states "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." FYI the definition of arms includes armaments which to further educate you dumbed down products of the US "education" system means military equipment.
You people act like it's rocket science.

  14. 9:37 again you people are showing your complete ignorance of history. In the majority of successful coups/revolutions the military went against the their leaders. This is why it is important that the military is stacked with generals etc that strictly adhere to the Constitution and the BOR's and that they are free of any anti-American rhetoric.
And no I have no idea what you mean. I am a 30 something 5'4" 115lbs woman who has nothing to prove to anyone ever.

  15. clinton was just playing to her low information base when she came out with the ridiculous statement about how President Trump can't be trusted with the "nuclear codes."
While the President is the only one who can give the order to set off a nuclear weapon he can't do it without cooperation of many other people.
Including the launch crews (the last in a series of many who must all agree) which consists of at least 5 persons who all have to turn "the key" at the same time. If one is off the nuke will not launch. This is just a few of the safeguards in place so that one is not accidentally launched due to miscommunication or other mistakes and so that it is not easily launched to destroy our own country.
