BREAKING: Leslie Lewis Removed As Finance Director of Wicomico County

County Executive Bob Culver lost confidence in Leslie Lewis and asked for her resignation yesterday and she refused to give it. Leslie was then terminated as she is an at will employee for the County. Her replacement will start on Monday.

After the last Council Meeting it became very clear to everyone there were some very serious issues. Onward and upward.

  2. Will the new finance director hold Day & city accountable for all the unpaid rent for the office space they've been squatting in for decades? It's about time Day was held financially accountable for this issue! He owes the county residents a bunch of cash. Time to pay up, Opie.

    1. As far as saying media will not cover this, I have to ask it there was a press release. If County does not release the info how are they to be aware of the story. It appears Culver gives Joe first dibs pertaining to County related business, so I wonder if he will reveal what was she doing that caused the "resign or get fired"? How is relation to the Sheriff pertinent to
      her firing.

  5. If her replacement comes in on Monday, then this was planned well in advance. Shame on Bob for letting Leslie Lewis stay in her position of power until the 11th hour. Another FOB appointment I suspect.

  7. 8:59, Spot On! Not that it's any one's business why the decision was made, if people knew everything that had been going on they'd be happy Culver made this decision. It was definitely time for both to move on.

    Stand by!

P.S. On a personal note some "surprises" yet to come have been in the works since 2009

    Thanks Bob

  11. 915 that's the next inference people here will draw that she's somehow related to the Sheriff and the Executive is on the outs or some other nonsense. People have a way of ginning up propaganda even where none exists, especially here in Salisbury. Seems like a lot of folks don't have anything better to do with their free time but indulge in conspiracy theories and other such nonsense.

  12. 9:15, NO, I was the one who contacted Culver on this matter. Because you can't spell, I think we ALL know who you are. Get his phone records and look it up. I called him about this matter because I have SOURCES.

I'll add, IF you think this person had FRIENDS you'd be seriously mistaken. Notice I said earlier, sources with a s on the end.

"9:10 AM two sides to every story."

I do not see a misspelled word and your comment to 9:15 is strange to say the least. you want 9:15 to get Culver's phone record because you contacted Culver because you have SOURCES. Whoop de do

  15. 9:32 if something has "been in the works since 2009", that doesn't seem like something to gloat over or be excited about. I would ask that if something has been in the works for 8 years, it either states the incompetence of one party or the slimy avoidance of the other part. Maybe you could just spell it out and let us all know what you are talking about. No disrespect intended to you but that seems a little ridiculous to me.

  16. I voiced my concerns to the Council and the County Executive over a year ago. She was manipulative, conniving and unprofessional. Took long enough, but I'm glad to see it.

  17. It was just last Fall that Bob was so happy that she was collecting delinquent tax bills that he cancelled the property tax sales. Now what?

  20. Now conventional wisdom will require a special counsel to review this action since it was yet another evil republican firing a government employee. Maybe they can piggy back with Mueller and at least save some money.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1053 was just thinking the same thing. Will Robert Mueller come down to Salisbury to review this case, too? And just how would Ms. Lewis like for the reasons she was fired to be broadcast to the public? Can't help but think there isn't a lot more to this story than Bob just wanting to have someone else in the position. Hope one day we find out the real 4-1-1.

  23. 1000 how is saying a person refused to resign so they were fired slander? You need to get your legal dictionary out and look it up. Obviously, you're lacking in the word definitions area.

  25. Do you people not know what "serves at the pleasure of..." means? There needs to be no reason / explanation for actions such as this when a person serves at the pleasure of the boss. what is the reason is none of the publics business. They just want to be nosy.

  26. Why would anyone be concerned "why" the removal. I never heard of her until this post, best wishes to the lady.

  31. She probably should have quit because it wouldn't be breaking news if she had. She made a fool of herself by forcing a termination. No honor in that one.

  32. Think Lewis will be using anyone at the Wicomico County offices as a reference for the next job? Chances are, probably not.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Now she can see firsthand what the local government has done to job prospects in this area. Hope she learns a staunch lesson from it.

  34. I think MOST of us will face a career ending event eventually. That means CURRENT career. The smart ones move onto ANOTHER career. James Comey is a good example. He was a classic civil servant who learned to advance the civil servant ranks. Trump ended this for him though and Hillarly nearly forced him to end if from the powers in charge at the time. He was kinda stuck in between.

As he was quoted, he will "be ok". The pensions will keep him rather comfortable. Any attempt on his part to fight back for political reasons just exposes him to political risks that he really doesn't need to do.

  37. Would seem that Culver was doing what needed to be done during this budget season. If Lewis's incompetence was being revealed in meetings and her work, then he had every right to terminate her employment. Chances are, the replacement was someone he tapped on the QT to immediately fill her position because the budgets need to be completed correctly with accuracy and she was unfit to perform/complete the task. This isn't rocket science, it's common sense.
