Meeting Materials - 3-6-17 - Council Work Session

  1. I've got an idea for the cell phone policy. A policy where employees are not allowed to use their cell phones during hours of employment. Includes no texting or smart phone use during during working hours.

If this occurs then you would see a large drop in negative anonymous comments.

  2. Unsolicited newspapers. Is this about the trash in the yellow bags that litters yards, driveways and streets, and clogs gutter drains every week or two?
We've been complaining to the city for over fifteen years about these things, and nothing has ever been done by three mayors and more councils except to tell us to call the distributors and tell them that we don't want them delivered to us, which never works. The distributor doesn't care and the delivery people change frequently.

In my opinion, this is littering -- about 8,000 episodes of it every delivery day. Would an SPD officer even charge the distributor and delivery person if a property owner made a formal complaint? Probably not now, but that's something that can change with the public will. The council and mayor should take heed.

  4. Both county and city really need to think just how many people really need taxpayer funded cell phones.I bet most could be eliminated just like take home vehicles and all would be well.I would love to see a record of personal calls and texts the taxpayer is funding.I hear several people with taxpayer funded cell phones say when i leave here the phone goes off or to voicemail which is true because try calling them off work hours.
