Radio traffic, news details & new pictures from overturned tanker
According to SouthernMD WX & News, two firefighters were injured when Tanker 5 from the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department in Calvert County, Maryland overturned this (Saturday) morning.
It happened on Robinson road while the rig was responding. The site says one firefighter was flown out by helicopter and the other went by ground to Calvert Memorial Hospital.
Who does the fire department call when THEY have an accident??

" A preliminary investigation revealed that as Tanker 5 was progressing through a curve on Robinson Road a tire failure, with a “blowout” and full tread separation, occurred. At this time the investigation into the cause of tire failure is ongoing; however, it is apparent that the tire failure is a factor that significantly contributed to this collision. Tanker 5 was en-route to the fire ground and was fully loaded at the time of the rollover. Tanker 5 is capable of carrying 3000 gallons of water."

ReplyDeleteDid anyone ever think that the tire blowout thing was just a perfect excuse. Have you ever noticed that the firemen in Salisbury are never given a ticket when they are involved in an accident even when it is obviously their fault.

ReplyDeleteCentral alerted Stations 16, 2, 1 and County Station #5 (Hebron) for a reported house fire at 1121 East Church Street near the corner of E. Church and Main Streets. This is near East Salisbury Elementary School.
Why did Central dispatch Station 5 instead of Station 6, Parsonsburg? I would think that Parsonsburg is much closer to that house than Hebron is.

ReplyDeleteCertainly monitoring tire pressure must be a normal daily check at the fire house, and a "blowout" in a dual wheeled vehicle would seem a minimal incident. Turning a truck upside down requires a talent unknown to me.
