I was a Junior at James M. Bennett Sr. High School and despite having the leftist history Czar Geoff Smoot for a teacher I survived with my conservative values intact! I was still, as I am to this day, not knowing anything about issues of racism as I was family to everyone I knew despite skin color. Those were the good old days indeed.

ReplyDeleteI was 8-9 years old during this year and I loved the sports and music (not disco) and tv. Wonderful memories of 1977.

ReplyDeleteTwas a young lad in the 70's...wondering how in the heck a not so handsome Dick Van Patton got busy so many times?? Then I realized the 70's succeeded the 60's and it made "real" sense!

1128 I was also a junior at JMB, it was weird back then because I was a white guy who had lots of black friends (and still do), played a lot of basketball, and had teammates over for dinner before practices and games. My parents never asked if my friends were black or white. My parents encouraged me to bring my friends to our house on Prince ST. because they knew some of them didn't have time to take the bus home and get back on time to Bennett. Troy Dozier had the biggest afro at our table. Weird huh. I know Ronnie Wainwrights parents did the same thing. So my question is, why have things gone backwards? Reichenberg

ReplyDeleteI was one yrs in a playpen..watching my new baby sister ..who a year later I helped push out of the pen on her head..luckily she's didn't end up damaged..I think..
ReplyDeleteRecently honorably discharged from the USN and watching our country degrade itself by the cowards who burned draft cards and avoided military service at any cost. Truly the values of our country changed; respect was lost, political correctness was born, and devil may care began to run rampant.

DeleteI agree with 11:28 I attended Bennett and everyone got along and were friends regardless of race, sex or money. We have worked side by side in this country for many years.It is Obama allowing racism to flourish again, disrespect for 1st responders, and backing away when he should be making correct responses to the media, not fanning trouble at every opportunity. I believe he is the worst president we have ever had, and I made the mistake of voting for him!
