EXCLUSIVE: Bennett High School Auditorium Completely Flooded Out

  1. What is all over the stage? Did they have a leak in the roof or was this rising ground water?

  2. OMG how awful now they will have mold issues.

  3. If this is the new Bennett, why does it surprise anyone? It was built on a bottomless pit when it rains. That ground has been like that forever. I say that because 50 years ago I seen tractors and combines sunk to the frames when there was less rainfall than this. Bennett was built and will forever cost tax payers in Wicomico County. It will probably collapse in the next five years or less. Another example of Political "Home Boys" and kick backs. There should be lawsuits from tax payer organizations.

    2. There was an auditorium there before they built the new school...so take off your tin hat anti-establishment hat...

    3. It's not at the new Bennett! People are so quick to jump to conclusions! Lawsuits? Really????

    4. Calm yourself down, geez. Not everything is a conspiracy.

    5. Let's assume from 4:34's statement "50 years ago I seen tractors" that he was only passing by the property and not attending school.

    6. I agree with suing

    7. Sorry that not everything is perfect, and up to your standards! Also our tax money goes to a lot of other things too! So unless you want to do everything we give our tax money for like paving roads that need to be fix, getting new books for students, etc.... Then take a seat and stop complaining!

    8. What exactly is a taxpayer organzation? Do we pay more taxes to them to organize? Are you just making up something to try and make yourself sound smart?

  4. Is this the new school or the high school on College Ave.?

    1. The headline says it was the auditorium not either one of the schools!

    2. Its the highschool

    3. It says hogh school auditorium

    4. It's a detached building that was there way before the new high school. Besides... there are many buildings flooded in this town. Some people just need the drama.

      lol
I thought there is a Sump pump in the back of the building. What happened. No alarm for a Pump failure.

    2. Probably was but disconnected because it kept going off and they were to laid back to fix it, 'it never floods'...

  8. open the doors and let the water out

  9. This is the auditorium - separate from the new building - it's been there for a long time. It doesn't make it any less sad, but you all need to know it's not the new building.

  10. I was in a basement that had a high
    tide level of 7'

    ReplyDelete
  11. this was roof rain water not swampy ground water

  12. This was not a new building. It is a separate structure

    ReplyDelete
  13. 5:08, that is correct. It is located at the high school property.

    ReplyDelete
  14. It was an old building

  15. This is the Auditorium that has been there for a very long time. The stage area and most of the first 25 rows of seats are below ground level, always have been. Not sure where the water is penetrating but wherever it is it's big. And for 4:34, before you get all wound up about the newer High School, rest assured it is high and dry.

  16. This is such a nice stage! I'm sorry to see this happen.

  17. Lets go stage diving.

    ReplyDelete
  18. At least someone had the good sense to check it.

  19. :( SO Sad. That was a nice auditorium. Wonder what they are gonna do about it? mold and other issues for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thats because it was built below ground level. This why people do not have basements around here. Dont know why they dont have a sump pump setup. It would have been a lot cheaper than replacing everything now. Dumbasses.

    1. There are pumps, very large ones and a generator for power to back them up. The city stormwater system couldn't handle the volume and backed up. But thanks for adding your obviously uneducated and uninformed opinion. Dumbass!!

  21. They need a new one now.

  22. There's no doubt they will get a new auditorium if the "county" sees fit. It looks like a small college complex there now. Whatever happened to WI-HI and there conditions?? Isn't WI middle the oldest school in the county??

    ReplyDelete

    1. Wi middle is in bad shape they had flooding today and the entire 1st floor got ruined was told it was water and sewage not good

  23. Chincoteague High School also has some flooding. School will likely be closed tomorrow...it got in several classrooms.

  24. 4:34 - I am not even responding to your craziness because at this point you have made yourself look like a fool. - SMH

  25. There are several companies that specialize in water damage control and recovery. I'm hoping to see several of their trucks there tomorrow. It's covered by insurance, so make it happen!

    ReplyDelete
  26. What good is a sump pump that pumps into a system known to flood with a lot of rain?

Perhaps allow a reroute in that case.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wow will not see any non swimmers there!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Do they have a swim team ?? They do now

    ReplyDelete
  29. Maybe the fire boat could have helped...lol

    ReplyDelete
  30. Do they have insurance on school buildings? I am asking because I really do not know. If they do, fine, pay the deductible and have it replaced if need be. If not, this should be the last thing on any list to replace when it comes to our schools. I think they would have a hard time convincing the public to pay for this building.

    1. Most public schools in Maryland belong to a consortium and are self-insured.

  31. The building was in fact the detached auditorium closer to College Ave. SERVPRO of the Lower Shore was on scene and started the drying process to reduce the risk of any further damage.

  32. Bring in a big bunch of really big dehumidifiers & fans after the water is gone & this problem won't appear as intimidating as one would think.

  33. The BOE and its staff have the knowledge and expertise to deal with situation. Apparently most of the people commenting dont.

  34. At least they have air conditioning.
