Police: Children report spotting suspicious clowns in Md.

Police say they've received more than one report of children spotting individual(s) wearing clown costumes with face paint. According to police, the clown spottings have occurred since Thursday in several Annapolis neighborhoods.

It appears only children have spotted the clowns, Annapolis Police report in a press release.

"Incidents were reported in the 700 block of Newtowne Drive, Bens Drive near Victor Parkway, and the 1400 block of Tyler Avenue. The most recent sighting reportedly occurred around 8:30 a.m. on September 19 on Bens Drive," Annapolis Police state in the release.

  6. I think this is an urban Myth among kids. I say this because when I was going to Delmar elementary back in the early 80's there was a rumor going around that a clown was trying to abduct kids in the woods behind the school. This happened a couple of years. if my memory serves it was around the 3rd and 5th grade. Kids swore that they saw the clown. One year it was a guy dressed a Ronald McDonald.

Does anyone else remember this ? In the end it was all a hoax brought on by the kids enjoying a good creepy tale to share.

  11. Could be an urban legend. I read quite a few online newspapers from various parts of the country and this is supposedly happening somewhere else too. I can't remember where I read it but I did and it was within the past 2 weeks. Still it's better to be cautious. I too don't like clowns at all.

  16. It's urban hysteria, is all it is.

Nevertheless, time to declare open season on clowns in the wild. No tag needed, no bag limit.
