Comcast gets most FCC complaints by wide margin

Comcast tallied more customer complaints with the Federal Communications Commission than three of its major competitors combined.

Ars Technica, a publication focused on technology and IT, reports the deluge of complaints against the Philadelphia-based cable and Internet service giant included customers frustrated over data caps and overage charges.

...Comcast received 11,812 complaints so far this year (from January 1 to November 9). AT&T got 3,896 such complaints, Verizon got 1,588, and TWC had 1,240. In total, AT&T, Verizon, and TWC received 6,724 such complaints—5,000 fewer than Comcast alone.

At first glance, some might think it makes sense for Comcast to have a larger raw number of upset subscribers because it has more customers overall. But the percentages don't add up.

  1. 4% increase starts this month. More money so the tech can ride around and not fix my problems or should I say hide out. Hope I'm not using all my data

  2. This is why the Time Warner merger failed...Because of poor customer experience. Their management is all about numbers not about taking care of the customers.

  5. This month my Comcast bill jumped from 106.06 to 110.39. I thought there was a franchise agreement between the County and Comcast. If this is the case, the County must have approved the increase.

  7. I have basic internet. My bill went from 66.99 to 69.99 which is basically 70 per month now just to have internet. I guess I will start shopping for a cheaper alternative. I've seen some cellular based hotspots that will cover up to five devices for unlimited for 50 per month.
I can't see paying these prices for just internet. It isn't even that quick, and I own the cable modem! First I ditched their over priced cable, now I will have to ditch this internet! Salisbury and Wicomico need some competition!!!! No justification for these prices!!!!

My home line was crap today and still is! We have Verizon. I tried to make a call and you couldn't even hear the person on the other end. I guess they will tell me once again it is my home lines so they can try to charge me to come out and fix their problem. I had to use my cell phone to call people or to call them back if they called my home number just to be able to hear them.

  17. No surprises here.

Comcast is grossly overpriced and the bait and switch (contracts for lower pricing, flipping at their whim to full prices) is out of control. The company has long abused its consumers in this area because they hold a monopoly, which is supposed to be in violation of antitrust laws but that's another blog. Some of the complaints ought to be about adding paid channel charges to consumers' bills without permission; causing people to have to audit their bills every month because the bill fluctuates more than the electricity bill.

What's more important to most should not be the amount of complaints but what is the FCC going to do about them.
