Which States Could Adopt Automatic Voter Registration Next?

Several states may soon follow California and Oregon's lead, but almost all of them are Democratic-led.
If Americans needed any further proof that voting itself has become a partisan battleground, look no further than proposals calling for automatic voter registration.

California this month enacted a law that will automatically register people to vote when they get or renew a driver's license or state identification card from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), following the example set by Oregon several months ago. Over time, this could bring most of the 6.6 million Californians who are eligible but not yet registered onto the voting rolls. Alex Padilla, California's secretary of state and sponsor of the measure, calls it potentially the largest voter registration drive in U.S. history.

Other states could soon follow.

  1. All the states that let illegals have driver's licenses will adopt automatic voter registration. Instant voting base. Might as well just roll over and say "sissy"... in Spanish.

  2. More voters means more representative of the US population. You have a problem with a reflection of the true population?

  3. It's happening right here in Wicomico. People who are here on visas, are getting drivers licenses. They are non US citizens, most can not read or write English and they are receiving Summons for Jury duty forms in the mail.

  4. 10:11 Yes I do especially if they are non US citizens that are voting only because they obtain a drivers license. Are you saying that the 200,000 Muslims that are being brought here by Obama should have a right to vote because they can drive a car in Maryland? You call that a true reflection of population? Now do you see my point?

  5. 10:11 - True representation of the citizens of the country should be a goal. The vote isn't for illegals, they aren't citizens of the US and have broken the law.

  6. If that's the case, then young men shouldn't have to register for selective service as it can be automated.

  7. 11:35 - he will never get your point - he's a brainwashed dumbocrat - probably on the dole and wants to continut getting 'free' stuff!

  8. 1:54 I agree. And another point is women require equal rights and pay as men, but they object to register for selective service. And while we are opening up a "can of worms", there is no record of Obama ever registering for selective service.

    1. I hadn't heard that, but it isn't surprising. If he knew he wasn't a legal citizen then he would not register.
