Mayor Ireton Flamboyant Once Again

Jim Ireton is threatening the County Executive, the County Council and the Citizens of Wicomico County with the fire service agreement. Jim Ireton is threatening to stop fire and EMS responses outside the city limits with this budget. The County and the Salisbury Fire Department already have a Mutual Aid Agreement and they have already been compensated by the County. And you can't forget that the city is compensated by billing you and your health insurance companies with a astronomical bill for services already paid for by your taxes.

Look at page 11 and 12 of the budget
SALISBURY FIRE & AMBULANCE
18-52 SALISBURY AMBULANCE
18-52 SALISBURY FIRE DEPARTMENT
DEPARTMENT TOTAL $ 590,000

The County also pays for each of the volunteers as well for these services. The Salisbury Volunteers workers compensation insurance is covered by the county and it is totally different from the paid firemen and paramedics. They are also covered for the other services listed and they get their share of those grants listed as well.

VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANIES
20-52 WORKERS COMP INS
20-52 DEATH BENEFIT INS
20-52 GRANT(S)
20-52 SINKING FUND
20-52 HEPATITIS VACCINE

  1. He should do the nuclear option - that would be the end of Ireton. Every person who didn't get service should sue him personally and the city. Bring it on Jimbo!

  18. Some Vollies busting Jimbeau's chops on his FB page. Excellent points made.

Bryan Cook - That would mean as a member of the fire service of the city I would be unable to protect my own house and family members the reside in the salisbury fire district? That exposes a lot of people Mr. Mayor and puts countless lives in danger and property at risk.

Justin Byrd - Mr. Mayor, do you realize that there are streets in the middle of this city that are considered out of city limits? Do you realize that Salisbury Nursing and Rehab at 200 Civic Ave is NOT in city limits, yet the roadway is? This is very dangerous. You'...See More

Justin Byrd - And for that matter so is Wicomico Nursing Home at 900 Booth. Another street that is half city and half county. They're going to have to wait for Hebron or Delmar.

Patrick Davis - Inversely, does the county really think if the call volume increases for the surrounding county departments that have a massive call increase are not going to be asking for an increase in funding

Justin Byrd - I mean zero disrespect with my posts, I'm just concerned with public safety, which I'm sure the mayor is too.

Jim Ireton - I await suggestions as to what I tell my taxpayers that are giving this service away for free. I don't disagree with much of what you've said, but I can't expect city taxpayers to keep footing the bill to the tune of 2.2 million dollars a year. Please stress this to county leaders. Thanks for your input. Mayor Jim

Jim Ireton - Additionally we have put forth an assess able base model plan that's funds all fire departments equitably for what they do. All of this is documented and has been put forth over the past year. Salisbury has been the leader in solving this issue.

Bryan Cook - Suggestions? You guys are our political leaders. (City and County) Your tasked with looking out for your citizens better interest. I get that. But the City of Salisbury, through agreements well prior to us Mr. Mayor have agreed to provide this coverage to the county residents. Hence forming the Salisbury Fire District with in the county. This was agreed upon by a Fire Chief and Mayor previously. While I understand there is a financial cost to everything, but by your previous statement my life and property or my families property or lives are less important because we don't live with In the green signs of city limits? Peoples lives and property matter. They matter whatever side of line they may be on. The other county fire departments depend on assistance from the SFD for man power and equipment out of our district. This brings me back to political leaders and there obligations to look to the better interest of the people. The government is by the people and for the people and the street goes both ways.

While I respect the fact that an effort was made on the City(your) end. But bottom line is an agreement was not made. That means you all need to sit down again and figure out other means and other ways to reach a solution.

I'm not placing all the burden of blame on you. Your working to find a solution I get that and appreciate that. But think about this. Most of the shopping centers are with in the Salisbury City Limits. Most if not all county residents go to those centers and spend money to generate revenue for the city as well as the business. The City zoo provides service to county residents through education. Does that mean I should have to pay or not be allowed to go because I'm not a city resident? I, like most county residents drive over or through City of Salisbury streets on a very regular occasion, should I have to pay a toll for me to use them? Not being smart or disrespectful, but rather trying to make a point.

I again, mean no disrespect to you or any political leaders through my statements. . I was simply aiming for constructive dialog.

I've got an idea let's tell the volunteers in the county not to respond to calls in the city and see what happens. The paramedics are overworked so you will see citizens having to wait for the already overworked paramedics to come available. Might take an hour or longer to get an ambulance then.

The fat ass fire chief has already done a perfect job in running the Salisbury Volunteers away so they can get more paid firemen. I can see them watching houses burn down because there would be no mutual aid from the good volunteers in the county.

    You lose Mayor Jim.

Yes, the education certainly did fail you 6:23. Yes indeed it did. A nuclear option is not a "procedure." It is a descriptive and means the most extreme outcome to a situation-any situation.

  27. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
The nuclear or constitutional option is a parliamentary procedure that allows the U.S. Senate to override a rule or precedent by majority vote. The presiding officer of the United States Senate rules that the validity of a Senate rule or precedent is a constitutional question. The procedure thus allows the Senate to decide any issue by majority vote, even though the rules of the Senate specify that ending a filibuster requires the consent of 60 senators (out of 100) for legislation, 67 for amending a Senate rule.

  32. 9:07 Keep reading you. Pay particular attention to the Background section. It explains that a nuclear option is a maneuver that has been used several times in Congress and not just exclusive of any one of or even the name of a law or amendment. Think in terms of "A" nuclear option and not "The" nuclear option.
It simply means the most extreme or dramatic action that can be or is taken and nothing more.

    ReplyDelete
  33. There is alot of "county" areas within the city. Will county stations start responding to the schools and nursing homes while the sfd sits and does nothing?

    ReplyDelete
  34. How many 'grants' has the fire department received? Did all that grant money come from ONLY city residents?

He wanted those extra fire fighters now he wants someone else to pay for them.

"If" there was a really bad fire in Salisbury or as I have heard before all the ambulances are busy. Who will they call for back up? Do they expect the county departments to help them at that point?

    ReplyDelete
  35. A Salisbury Ambulance bill will cost you about $1,000 even though they get paid by the county and your taxes actually pay for those services. This is Double Dipping by Salisbury because of greed and should be discontinued. The Salisbury Fire Department sends out those annual fund drive requests and the old citizens in the City think this will cover any ambulance bill. The Salisbury Fire Department sends a fire truck on almost every ambulance call and they self dispatch. Their justification to why? Because it's a high priority call and they need the extra manpower. Oh, so now you are not going to leave the city limits because they are no longer a high priority call or you are going to play games with someones life? Anyone with any intelligence knows that the fire trucks chase the ambulances because the "extra manpower" is for billing and to justify more manpower. ie like the 12 free grant money firemen and also by making it to busy for the volunteers to handle taking all the calls.

So Jim thinks the Wicomico County 911 center is going to quit dispatching to calls outside the city limits? Fat chance, he doesn't have that authority. So that will make Salisbury look stupid when they dispatch over and over again for a child who has stopped breathing. I smell a law suit. That homo and his fat chief are trying to scare the tax payers into paying the Salisbury Fire Department more money than they need. Don't fall for their stupid shit. It's all a game and a power struggle for Jimbeau.

Little Jimmy is grandstanding and the Press is looking FOOLISH for NOT bringing uip the fact that Pollitt thought it was BS too.

    ReplyDelete
  41. What iIreton doesn't say is that the fire services agreement expired years ago. It was full of obsolete scenarios and the entity intended to receive the money was questionable. When Campbell discovered this year's ago she asked for it to be remedied then. One year Pick renewed it at the last minute without public or council knowledge and as far as I know it isn't until now...years later and millions of dollars that lack accountability and transparency from the city's side that Ireton wants to rant. Why doesn't he just sit down with Culver and work out what's fair for everyone. Because he always uses the press to scream half truths and cause trouble instead. Always has. Sadly, probably always will.

    ReplyDelete
  42. There is a liberal conspiracy to make Culver look bad at every turn. The TRUTH is this county hasn't gone to h#ll since the election in November as some would have you believe. The TRUTH is, all the bad policies of Pollitt and Creamer and Shea are finally being exposed. Their only response - blame Culver. What a poorly conceived plan - LOL. Truly cornered rats!

Guess what - the public sees through your pathetic ploys. Ireton's antics have backfired and made Culver seems even more Executive than ever. I real executive looks in the camera and says he will not allow anyone in the county to go unprotected on July 1st. Culver did that. Now, THAT is leadership.

Keep it up liberal losers, we love that you are imploding with your own behavior!

  45. I was just reading the story where Kenny Gaskins gets off on a very light sentence. Then it goes on to say that 3 people spoke on his behalf and one of them is former volunteer deputy fire chief Bill Gordy. Does anyone know who the other 2 were? There is a video on this website and it shows the Criminal Kenny Gaskins waving to the cameras and Bill Gordy in tow.

First Jim Ireton has Bill Gordy kicked out of the department for corruption by Ireton's Lackey Jeff Simpson. Simpson also demotes Rick Hoppes who Ireton passed over for the Fire Chief's job 4 times.

Then Ireton hires Bill Gordy to be the General Manager in the construction of the new mini mansion replica of Station 16 costing Millions of dollars in an economy that has many homes in the same ghetto in foreclosure. Bill Gordy is hired by Jim Ireton as the General Manager in the construction of Fire Department #2 and the volunteers have no say and they are told to stay off and away of the construction site.

Then Bill Gordy goes to court and speaks on behalf of a convict that stole thousands of dollars from the volunteers at Station #16 and the tax payers. Rick Hoppes pretty much admits in the news story he knew what was going on. Then we have a judge give that convict a very light sentence and doesn't have to spend any time in jail.

The Salisbury Fire Department with Jim Ireton, Rick Hoppes and City Hall is full of corruption.

Matt Maciarello and Mike Lewis can you please do what we hired you to do. Jim Ireton, Jake Day, Laura Mitchell and Rick Hoppes need to be taken away from that City Hall in hand cuffs.

Ex-Salisbury Fire volunteer treasurer sentenced in theft

That mastermind I am speaking of is Rick Hoppes. All of this comes from the inside and Rick Hoppes and John Tull are the real masterminds of this plan and they both need to be fired over this.
