  5. Why did Tails and Tubs close? After witnessing some mistreatment several years ago at Michelle's Pretty Paws, I took my dog to Tails & Tubs and loved them!! I hope this isn't right!!

  6. People always complain and blame the mayor....but the real truth is .....Small business are nothing in the eye of the world.....We complain when they go out of business. ...but NEVER support them when you have an opportunity

  7. Though not at liberty to say at this point in time, I personally know of another business that is closing in the City within the next few months. They are relocating out to the county. Since the building is leased this is going to leave another vacancy in the city. The reason I was given was, the owner is "sick of Salisbury."

  10. Tails/Tubs outpriced themselves
    for what they offered!

Went in one time---Couldn't believe what they were charging
for a "Do it yourself shampoo
    for my 11 lb dog."

  11. These are small businesses. I know nothing about Tails and tubs. But the garden center has been closed for a very long time. I believe I saw after it closed that the the owner died. This business had a good Christmas garden center business once. These kinds of businesses have generally fallen out of favor. No doubt competition with the big box stores has not helped.

Foggy Bottom is also owned by an older owner. It used to be out in the country. It operated very differently from today. I wondered how it was going to survive once it moved to Salisbury. Not because it was in Salisbury but because its goals and merchandising were different.

It doesn't hurt to acknowledge that there are not nearly as many gift stores around today and that consumers are a different animal from just a few years ago. It is not that they are not spending it is that they are spending in different ways.

  12. Just heard from a mall employee that Sears was closing and that Boscov's was moving to a location on Rt 13 in Delmar...other modifications are being planned at the mall such as moving other stores to different locations. Anyone know anything about this?

  13. I see that I didn't read previous post about Mall changes...questions answered.

  14. Tails and Tubs did not close because of poor business. It has grown every year it was open. The owner has taken another job out of the area and had to close as a result. The business was very healthy.

  15. Tails and tubs. 3:52.

If the business was "healthy" then why did the owner feel the need to "take another job out of the area"?
I am sad to see them go, we went there often and it suited my needs to care for my older dog.

I am not sure where I am going to go now, since others that do not allow you to do it yourself, will not treat my older dog with the care I do, which is why we chose to use Tails and Tubs vs other groomers.

I kindly disagree with the "healthy" comment because the last couple of times I was there it was empty.

They will be missed and I am not happy about the lack of notice, since pooch needs a bath and there is now nowhere suitable to our needs, to go to.

  20. Wasn't Tails and Tubs owned by Jimmy's Sarbanes wife?

    ReplyDelete
  21. 8:25, don't think so. I met the owner once and he was not Jimmy Sarbanes.

Reality is, most small businesses fail within the first 5 years, so can't blame the mayor for everything. Just most everything.

Sometimes they don't "fail." The owner just gets tired or decides it is not for them, even if they are doing well financially. It's a big commitment.

  23. Can you really blame businesses, as well as people, from fleeing from Salisbury?

The adult criminals are bad enough, but then you have these criminal 'kids' that are pushed out of their welfare queens, and others, most with no father figure, no respect for anything, no discipline, no fear of the authorities because they know they are 'juveniles' and won't get any time in jail.

This is not the Salisbury I knew growing up. We all did stupid stuff growing up, but we paid for it and learned from it. Not anymore.

Everything is allowed and everyone is fair game. The laws are backwards. They protect the criminals and punish the citizens.

They don't want you to have firearms to protect yourself and have to prove a 'need' for a CCW.

If you do something stupid over the age of 18 and catch a felony, you are banned for life from even owning a firearm. That's a huge debt to society you pay for the rest of your life.

You get drunk and go for, what used to be called a joyride, and now you have a felony called unauthorized use of motor vehicle. That's not right and it's not fair, but it's the LAW.

Stupid laws such as this breeds disrespect for law in general and makes one a second class citizen.

But a lot would call that justice (just us).

When someone completes their sentence, their debt to society, all their rights should be restored.

When someone commits a crime, punish them right away. Do the time and you are done. Commit another crime, do more time, and you are done.

Isn't that the way it's supposed to be in a 'justice system'?

  24. Received a call from Tails and Tubs last night cancelling my dogs next grooming appointment. Lady said that the owner had an offer he couldn't refuse and was moving to New England. She told me that the business is for sale, but if someone wanted to buy it they had to move fast. I just hope Carey will still be in the area to groom my dog!
