Breastfeeding Woman, Casino Differ On Why She Was Asked To Leave Property

BERLIN – The story of a Pennsylvania woman who says she was kicked out of the Casino at Ocean Downs for breastfeeding her infant has gone viral.

Proponents of breastfeeding have swamped the Casino at Ocean Downs’ Facebook page with comments in support of Alanna Panas, a Pennsylvania mother who says she was forced to leave the casino lobby because she was breastfeeding her seven-week-old daughter.

“I have the right to breastfeed my child,” Panas said. “I wasn’t disturbing anyone. I wasn’t even in the casino.”

Panas said she has received support from mothers all over the world since several breastfeeding related Facebook groups have shared her story.

According to Panas, after going out to dinner on Jan. 3, she and her family decided to visit the casino. She and her boyfriend went in and left seven-week-old Lilly with Panas’ mother and sister to run some errands. When they returned, Lilly was hungry so Panas went outside to feed her. It was raining, and because their car was full of children’s car seats and her boyfriend had his car keys inside the casino, she took Lilly into the lobby to wait for him.

  1. I am so sick of these attention seekers. These people are in severe need of a mental evaluation. No one wants to see you breastfeeding your prop for your goal of getting attention.
And get off the it's natural BS. So is taking a crap but that doesn't mean people should have to witness that either.
Besides only a piss poor excuse for a mother would take a child to a casino. They are breeding grounds and incubators for all kinds of germs.

    1. Wow you sure are an idiot! Breastfeeding is natural and healthy. No one is seeking attention. Get a grip.

  2. The stupidity of this story is eclipsed only by the even more remarkable stupidity of the first comment.

So you think young children should be taken into a casino?

  4. What's so stupid with the first comment 1:22? I happen to agree.
These breast feeding advocates need their heads examined. All they want to do is show off which means they have a big time identity crisis.
The stupidity is this parent of the year who would even think to bring an infant to a place for adults only. People don't want to hear a crying baby. Not all people think babies are cute.
If the family couldn't even leave when the baby was fussing then they have a problem with gambling and need to seek help themselves.

  5. The casino is a place for adults-Period! I don't care if it's the lobby or the roof, it's adults only which means no children should be visible for any length of time to those entering the building. People go there to get away for awhile and the last thing they want to see is some bimbo with her baby sucking on her boob. Take it home or somewhere more child friendly.

  6. I agree-an infant shouldn't have been there. No minors includes infants. If you want to go to a casino or any other adult only place, leave any and all children at home and then go.
The squabbling over it only being the lobby and not the casino floor is ridiculous. It's still part of the casino.

  7. She doesn't sound like a very good mother. It's reported that family had taken the baby for awhile and when they returned the baby was hungry. The question is why would you send a 7 week old infant off without a bottle? Anything could happen and you never send off an infant without supplies including something to eat. If she had been more responsible in this very basic of mothering skills, this would never have happened.

    1. If you did you research or actually open your eyes to read the facts you would know the family was left with pumped breast milk in a bottle but the baby had drank it all and was still fussy.

  8. She's nauseating. An unwed mother with an infant at a casino on a cold raining night. How classy. She's not getting one bit of sympathy out of me. She's just another example of all that is wrong in this country. The infant is to be pitied to have the misfortune of being born to someone who can't respect rules and then makes a fool of themselves by going public when they are without a doubt in the wrong.

    1. Have you researched this story? It's everywhere. Get your facts. The baby was not in the gaming area which is restricted. This casino allows minors in to watch horse racing. Your dated views are poorly backed when you look at the facts.

  10. 1:22, 1:46 and 1:49. Put your reading glasses on you old sacks... "She and her boyfriend went in and left seven-week-old Lilly with Panas’ mother and sister to run some errands. When they returned, Lilly was hungry so Panas went outside to feed her. "

What part of that did you not comprehend?

  11. Baby hungry, baby gotta eat (drink).

  12. Read the whole article 3:37 or at the very minimum the next sentence which I copied and pasted here for you. The baby was fed in what the mother described as the lobby and not outside as you claim. If the baby had been taken outside this wouldn't even be an issue.

"It was raining, and because their car was full of children’s car seats and her boyfriend had his car keys inside the casino, she took Lilly into the lobby to wait for him."

  13. This has nothing to do with a hungry baby nor the way she was fed. What this has to do with is a parent who due to her own parent's failure refused to obey the rules of the casino. It is written right on the front doors-No minors. If being in a casino is so important to someone that they play pass the baby so they can gamble then they have some major character flaws.
The casino doesn't owe her a damn thing. People like her need to be publically ridiculed and humiliated and then maybe next time they will think twice before ignoring the rules.

  14. She was asked to leave and rightfully so. Not so long ago a woman was caught in another MD casino gambling while breastfeeding her baby. Security is well aware how these people work and that some will try and sneak a child onto the gambling floor. They can't take a chance of being caught or it even being regulator testers. They will get fined. When security saw her settling down to breastfeed it was time to get her out of there because security can't be tied up watching her anymore.
The casino owes her no apology. As far as the breastfeeding militants, ignore them and their 3rd world uncivilized opinions.

    1. Clearly you don't have children or they were formula fed babies

  15. What mother in her right mind takes a 7 week old infant out on a cold rainy night..let alone to go to a casino. Get your priorities right world!!

  16. Maybe the security guy could've offered her a chair in the lobby - turned away so it wouldn't cause any commotion.
Then again, I, as a confirmed gambler that holds a lot of weight on "omens", upon walking into the casino and seeing a woman sitting there breastfeeding a baby, would have immediately left to come back and gamble another day!

  17. maybe some reading and comprehension lessons are needed here as well...the story states the boyfriend had the car keys in the casino.....he couldn't stop gambling long enough to go to the lobby and give her the keys?...what was she gonna do after the feeding was over?...has a 7 week infant in her arms, sure as heck cant go back inside to gamble...time to leave anyways.....

No where in the article did it state that the family was left with breast milk! Stop making excuses for the poor choices that this woman made! She stated the car was full of carseats, so where were the other children? This woman clearly can not read the signs that state you must be 21 to enter this FACILITY!!!!! That includes the LOBBY!!!!

  19. She wanted her 15 minutes and she got it - move on woman. The baby should NOT have been there!
