Poplar Hill Holiday Party Raffle

You can win a Holiday Party for your business, corporation, office, department, or any group of people this December. Poplar Hill Mansion, Salisbury’s oldest home, is raffling off a fully decorated and catered holiday party.

One lucky winner will win a full party at Poplar Hill Mansion, decorated for the holidays by the Four Seasons Garden Club, for up to 97 people, a $600.00 value; plus catering from one of Salisbury’s local restaurants for all your guests.

A total prize package worth over $1000.00!

All the proceeds from the raffle are being used to restore a rare 1810 Pianoforte made by Joshua Thurston from the Clementi Company. This is only the second known Joshua Thurston piano, the other belonging to the Museum of the City of New York. Sadly the Pianoforte is not playable at this time and it costs about $12,000.00 to restore the instrument. The Friends of Poplar Hill Mansion have been fundraising for several years to reach our goal and now through a generous challenge grant from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, if we can raise an additional $3,000.00 by December 31, 2014, we will have enough money to restore this rare gem!

  1. When an old car is restored the first hurdle is finding parts, especially when it's restored to it's original condition. This piano apparently has components that can be made to work, because replacement parts would be non existent.Unless of course someone has found actual factory parts from the 1800's.Possibly new parts can be manufactured & adapted? I can't wait to see this piano after it's restored.Amazing project.
