You Just Never Know What Will Pop Up At An Auction

Eastern Shore Auctions held an auction at the Delmar Police Department on Saturday. Talk about an incredible variety of items for sale!

I happened to win a bid on a Nikon D2X digital camera, (above) brand new, never used for $90.00. Retail for this item when it came out was around $5,500.00.

I can't tell you the amount of things I have personally purchased from different local auction companies but it's a LOT. It's also a lot of fun and it's obviously rewarding.

  1. Like when a moon rock was sold at an auction. While the majority of those in attendance laughed and jeered, one person decided to bid on it and got it for $10.They stopped laughing when NASA prompted a full court press to get it make...to no avail.I don't recall that specific model of camera, but you definitely got a great deal.

  2. Someone sent in a comment I rejected for good reason but here is a part of what he said. "Buying stolen property is a crime even if you bought from the police."

The camera I purchased was actually an ARMY SURPLUS ITEM and not a stolen item.

I thought I'd make that statement to Jonathan before he actually tries to publish it elsewhere and look like a complete fool.

Call the Auction Company if you think I'm not telling the truth.

Why? The rightful owner has opportunity to reclaim an item/items that were stolen from a burglary or a break in. Years ago, in AA county our house as well as several others were burglarized. What items that were recovered were set up on tables in the AA county PD and the victims were allowed to look and reclaim what had belonged to them. We were told they hold the leftovers for awhile then advertise (giving owners one more chance to reclaim) it is to be auctioned.
