BREAKING NEWS: Republican Delegate Addie Eckardt Files To Run Against Senator Rich Coleburn

Just one hour ago Delegate Addie Eckardt files to run for Senate against Rich Colburn.

Folks, I have not spoken to Addie yet but as I'm sure you can imagine, this places me in a very difficult position as I have all the respect in the world for both these fine people.

Many have said that they didn't think Addie would survive this next election based on her age. However, one thing I can tell you is, she's one fine Lady and I need to get to the bottom of this.

More to come... I guess I should have stated this went up at 7:15 PM.

  1. I saw her at Rich Colburn's birthday party sitting with him last week! That's playing the game. Part of me is impressed and part of me is disgusted!

  2. If she is a republican I will vote for her. I am for getting all the clutter out of every office and position. We need new blood and am sooooooooooooo sick of Democrats give aways and tax and spend!

  3. I am a die hard conservative and my opinion is both of them are very nice and respectable people but feel they are just along for the ride and not working hard enough and making enough noise for our districts.

  4. I like her, but I would like to see some new blood in the Republican party. Rich has been in office way too long. I think they become too comfortable and the power and money goes to their heads. I'm tired to career politicians. Should be a civil service and not a career.

  5. Ms E ckardt is a wonderful YOUNG professional with the highest credentials. I am a Democrat and will switch to help promote her in this election, I also think THOUSANDS of other NURSES in the State Of Md will as well! She has common sense, an awareness of the "normal average Eastern Shoreman" and their desire to maintain the wonderful life we share on the Shore. With a medical background she is more than qualified to do the job regarding health care! RUN WIN I WILL HELP.

  6. Addie has been in office since 1995. She's hardly a new voice or fresh blood. In fact, she votes for O'Malley's budget. Don't take my word on it check it out yourself. Be an informed voter.

There should be more of that. Both parties able to speak to each other in a civil manner.

Maybe if more power hungry ego trippers would do this, more of our problems could be solved.

Refusing to talk to each other just because of party affiliations is childish and counter productive.

You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

  9. I am disgusted that she would even consider this move. I am not impressed with Addie. I supported her while she was a Delegate, but I will not support here on this. After all the support I gave her I overlooked her "reputation" while she was employed with the State of Maryland at the Eastern Shore State Hospital. She was very friendly if you know what I mean. Wink, Wink.

  14. Colburn respectable? Did anyone read about the divorce filings he tried to have permanently sealed? Meanwhile, we're supposed to get worked up about Ireton's absentee father, who isn't running for anything, and Bill Clinton's (disgusting, I'll grant you, but very old news now)White House sexcapades.

  15. You have my vote Mrs. Addie!!

I have known her and Rich for 30 yrs, I have campaigned for both of them.

Rich used to stand up for the Eastern Shore but has now become a follower of others and fell into the crooked Politician ways of the many others. It is definitely time for somebody new to fill his spot and I could not think of anyone greater!

  16. Of course Rich's lawyer asked for the divorce file to be sealed. That's fairly standard amongst celebrities and politicians. It makes sense to make that request. The out-of-town judge didn't have to grant it. Now it's unsealed and guess what, The Daily Times received nothing new. It was all a lot of hot air about nothing. 60% of marriages now, sadly, end in divorce. Many of them involve cheating. This is one of those. Nothing to see here. Move along.

  19. I agree with Colburn on most of the political issues but he has shown that he is a dirtbag in his personal life. Multiple affairs, creeping on every woman he meets. I think we're due for a change.

  21. aren't we all sick of the ruling class elites?

  22. 4:55, do you even know what both are running for? Not against each other, you moron.

  23. Addie should run in her position as an incumbent. I hope she loses for stabbing Rich in the back. Her stupidity will possibly cost us more republican seats in the house. Look at all the incumbents running for higher or different positions. Can someone count them up and give us an update on how many potential Republican seats we stand to lose this election? Stupid move Addie!

  24. Not sure of her motivation; puzzled.

Colburn has been advocate for our area and values, but has certainly stepped in it recently on personal level. Not sure if it was a threat to his re-election.

Think Addie had a safe seat; if she's not running, who is stepping up? She has been a good delegate, and would be a far less senior senator than Rich.

Haddaway is running for Lt. Gov.; has she refiled as delegate? If not, who is running there?

Let's be very careful so that Shore delegation does not slip!

  25. 10:25 AM the Eastern Shore Delegation is toast with these stupid moves.

In all honesty I don't think Jeannie Haddaway has a chance at winning the Lt. Governor's seat. They are running against some tough competition and all these candidates are incumbents who will be losing their seats and more than likely to Democrats. We have always had a troubled state Republican Committee, but this cycle is the worst I have ever seen. The Republicans are in trouble this cycle and the Central Committees are the blame. They have no clue how to run an election.

  26. Where are all the young solid republicans. Oh thats right they have left the Eastern Sore. Ireton was the first sign of what has happened to The Eastern Sore. The shore needs a enema lol
