Army Vet Banned From Old Navy Store In Florida

Note to self: Don’t try to pass off a fashion statement with a full military dress uniform. One teenaged employee of Old Navy found out the hard way, when an Army soldier called him out on it. Not only is it a disgrace to our military who earned the right to wear the uniform, it is also illegal.

So then why is Army vet Aaron Bennett being fired for pointing out this illegal activity?! That’s EXACTLY what happened in a Jacksonville-area Old Navy.

Hey all you fashionistas out there: If you want to have the look of the military, join the military! And hey Old Navy, NEVER treat our vets with such little respect!!

Veterans Service Center Opens In Easton

EASTON — The new Easton Service Center for the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Service Program officially opened in downtown Easton on Friday, Nov. 15, bringing earned benefits to an estimated 8,500 Eastern Shore veterans a year.

U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., spoke at the grand opening ceremony on Friday in Easton and said that Veterans Day is a day to pause and give thanks to the men and women who’ve served in the military, but that “we have other responsibilities.”

“Our military, when they return home, our warriors, should be greeted here as heroes. There should be a job waiting for them. They should be entitled to the very best health care. They should be able to get all of that, and Veterans Day is a day to recognize, but we should honor our veterans every day of the year,” Cardin said. “That’s what this Easton Service Center is all about — a commitment from our community to our veterans that we are going to be with them every day and their families.”

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 11-13-13

Ryan has left a new comment on your post "Wicomico County Residents Continue To Fight Back A...":

First off, if your gonna bad mouth a business, how bout you put your name by it instead of being a coward and using anonymous!! This is Ryan DeVage and let's get some things straight! The camera is in front of Orkin and not DeVages, regardless of where it is tho, we didn't put the cameras up, the city did!! When you have vehicles doing 65+ mph in a 25mph zone where their are hundreds of kids that walk each and every day that's a problem. We've seen countless kids almost get hit. If it was your child that was hit by a car I guarantee you wouldn't be bitching about speed cameras! The solution is simple; slow down!!!! You know the cameras are there so slow down!! I guarantee I've had more speeding tickets then anyone on this blog and I've yet to get a $40 fine from the camera and I drive by it 4 or 5 times a day! If I were you, I'd be happy the camera is there and not Officer Green b/c his tickets start at $90 a pop and with your ignorant attitude I guarantee he'd tack on a few more $. How bout next time you sack up and put your name by your statement so everyone can know how big a selfish idiot you are!

A Letter To The Editor 11-13-13

Joe,

I saw a white Chevy Caviler racing down Route 50 from my rear view mirror. As it passed me I saw the car had LG tags with a Wicomico County seal on the side.

To top it off, there was a young girl driving and a very young girl in the passenger seat. I highly doubt the girls inside the car are county employees.

The EPA Takes An Ax To Self-Sufficiency: Most Wood Burning Stoves Will Soon Be Illegal

When you think of that little dream homestead in the woods, what does it include? Probably a well and septic system, a little stream bubbling nearby, a chicken coop, a sunroom for winter growing, and a cozy fire to curl up next to.

When my daughter and I spent a year living in a cabin in the Northwoods of Canada, our wood stove was our lifeline. It was the only source of heat in a place that reached -42 degrees. It was the only way we could cook when our power went out during snow and ice storms (as it did frequently). It was the cozy center of our home, and we survived for an entire frigid winter for less than $800. After that experience I vowed never to live in a home without a wood stove.

If the EPA has its way, however, heating your home self-sufficiently with wood could soon become illegal – or at the very least, insanely expensive.

OCPD WELCOMES NEW POLICE HORSE

The Ocean City Police Department has recently welcomed a new member to the department’s Mounted Unit. The new police horse, Frasier, was picked up by mounted officers from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky where he had been trained. Frasier is a 4-year-old, Percheron Thoroughbred Cross.

Frasier was purchased using a monetary donation that was graciously given to the Mounted Unit by a charitable fund from the late Virginia Murray. This donation has also supported the purchase of additional horses in the past.
“Our Mounted Unit is a great asset to our department,” said Chief Ross Buzzuro. “Not only are they a great community relations tool but they can serve as an equivalent to five officers in many situations.”

Frasier is currently in his initial training stages and becoming acclimated to his new home and stall-mates. Once he has adjusted to Ocean City and become familiar with many of the different things he will experience, he will be out patrolling the streets and boardwalk.

His first outing in Ocean City will be on November 21 at Northside Park for the opening night of the 21st Annual Winterfest of Lights where citizens will have their chance to see Frasier for the first time.

Fredericksburg Police Probe Officer's Use Of Taser

WASHINGTON - The Fredericksburg Police Department is investigating one of its own after a stun gun incident Saturday night.

"We are currently investigating an officer's use of a Taser while arresting a subject," says police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe.

Video shot by someone near the scene in downtown Fredricksburg, Va., shows the officer using a stun gun on a man for more than 40 seconds as he lay face down in the street and screamed for it to stop.

Five Signs Obama's Second Term Is In Serious Trouble

President Obama is at one at one of the lowest points of his presidency. His poll numbers are slumping, the health care bill that he was counting on to be one of his lasting legacies has been tarnished by technical problems and even fellow Democrats are up in arms. On Thursday, he stood before the American people and apologized -- repeatedly -- about what he called the "fumbled" rollout of the health care law.

"We should have done a better job of getting that right on day one," Obama said during a White House press conference.

Even so, he added a note of optimism, predicting that "by the time we look back on this next year, that people are going to say, 'This is working well, and it's helping a lot of people.'"

Maybe, Mr. President, but until then here are five reasons why Obama's second term is in serious jeopardy:

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER

FAST FACTS ABOUT DR. CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER1. Born: March 13, 1950
2. Birthplace: New York City, New York
3. Raised in Montreal, Canada
4. Attended Mc Gill University and Harvard Medical School
5. 1972 diving accident left him paralyzed from the neck on down.
6. Directed psychiatric research for the Carter administration
7. Began writing career in 1981 with The New Republic
8. Helped develop the "Reagan Doctrine" in the 80's
9. Appointed to Presidential Council on Bioethics in 2002

Dr. Krauthammer is frequently on the Fox News Channel. He is an M.D., a lawyer and is paralyzed from the neck down. A friend went to hear Charles Krauthammer. He listened with 25 others in a closed room. What he says here is NOT 2nd-hand but 1st. The ramifications are staggering for us, our children and their children.

Last Monday was a profound evening. Dr. Charles Krauthammer spoke to the Center for the American Experiment. He is a brilliant intellectual, seasoned & articulate. He is forthright and careful in his analysis and never resorts to emotions or personal insults. He is NOT a fearmonger nor an extremist in his comments and views. He is a fiscal conservative and has received a Pulitzer Prize for writing. He is a frequent contributor to Fox News and writes weekly for the Washington Post.

The entire room was held spellbound during his talk. I have summarized his comments, as we are living in uncharted waters economically and Internationally.

Even 2 Dems at my table agreed with everything he said! If you feel like forwarding this to those who are open minded and have not drunk the Kool-Aid, feel free....

Summary of his comments:

1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn't show his emotions. It's very hard to know what's behind the mask. The taking down of the Clinton dynasty was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.

2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton. He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!

3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can't be straight forward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand and wants to level the playing  field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada ..

4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government. He doesn't care about the auto or financial services industries but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program because
if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type
single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada .. God forbid!

5. He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store. But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and  other industries. This obviously can't work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he's a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate but will govern from the hard left.
Again, watch what he DOES, not what he says.

6. Obama doesn't really see himself as President of the United States but more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President, ever , who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

7. He is now handing out goodies. He would like to blame all problems on Bush, from the  past, and hopefully his successor in the future. He has a huge ego and Dr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.

8. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense and State's Rights.

9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don't have. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The Media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a Pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn't work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama's allies, unions and the Congress to Placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

10. When Lehman brothers failed, fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain and the mantra of change caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

11. If the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power. If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight. It will all be about the economy. I hope this gets you really thinking about what's happening in Washington and Congress. There is a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith and join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard but we're right on most issues and can reclaim our country before it's far too late.

12. This country will fall if is refuses to elect conservatives like Reagan, who loved the Constitution and it's ability to limit
political power. Unless this Leviathan is destroyed and government is pared back to the limited size originally deliniated by the Constitution we are going down.

It's been a long slog to get us here, starting with the second president, John Adams, being the first to try to dictate instead of serve. This plot was hatched behind the scenes at the convention in Philadelphia in 1787 when the Monarchists lost the vote in their attempt to destroy states sovereignty and form a large centralized federal government. They may have lost the vote, but they have been winning the battles stealthfully for a long time. Time for a change, a real change, back to the original intents and limits of the Constitution.

OBAMA TO ALTER PARAMETERS OF OBAMACARE YET AGAIN – DOES HE HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO UNILATERALLY CHANGE LAWS PASSED BY CONGRESS?

The Affordable Care Act, as passed by Congress, looks quite different today. President Barack Obama has unilaterally altered the law to delay the insurance mandate for businesses and make changes for lawmakers so they aren’t subject to the same health care regulations as the rest of the American people.

On Thursday, Obama announced that he would be making yet another change to the law by allowing Americans to keep their current health insurance plans, though there are several conditions included in his new pledge.

But that brings us to the question: Does the president of the United States have the legal or constitutional authority to unilaterally change laws passed by Congress?

Fatality Triggers Call For Route 113 Intersection Changes; State To Hear Short-Term Requests

BERLIN — Just days after a serious accident on Route 113 at Bay Street that claimed the life of one Berlin teen and left his brother with serious injuries, town officials and concerned citizens rallied during Tuesday’s Mayor and Council meeting with a concerted effort to affect major changes at the dangerous intersection.

Last Friday evening, a Maryland State Police trooper in an unmarked patrol car struck two Berlin teenage brothers attempting to cross Route 113 near the intersection with Bay Street, claiming the life of one and sending the other to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he continues to battle major injuries. While the investigation is ongoing, town officials and a groundswell of public support are already asking, even demanding, the State Highway Administration (SHA) make significant changes at the intersection and all along the dangerous stretch of Route 113.

Before dozens of concerned residents could present their case at Tuesday’s meeting, however, town officials announced they were already taking proactive actions to present their case to SHA. Council Vice President Elroy Brittingham read to the assembled crowd an official statement on behalf of absent Mayor Gee Williams.

More On Salisbury Speed Cameras

MDA Exclusive: Brekford representative to travel to Salisbury tomorrow to hand over documents
A source at Salisbury's speed camera vendor, Brekford Corporation, has informed the MDA that a Brekford representative will be meeting with Col. Barclay on Friday, November 8, to deliver "a very large packet" of speed camera calibration certificates. Col. Barclay manages Salisbury's speed camera program.

State law requires that the calibration certificates be maintained in the files of each jurisdiction that operates speed cameras.

The MDA requested calibration certificates from Salisbury five months ago, but the city did not fulfill the request. Another request was submitted two months ago. The city has continued to disregard the requests for calibration certificates even after numerous calls and emails to Mayor James Ireton, Council President Jacob Day, the city clerk, City Attorney Mark Tilghman and other city officials.

The Brekford representative also stated that Salisbury will be posting the calibration certificates on the city's website on November 8.

This Map Shows How America Is Divided Into 11 Nations

Remember when that crazy Russian professor said America would break up into several different nations?

He may not have been totally far off.

In a new article in Tufts Magazine, Colin Woodard, author of "American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America", argues that the U.S. has long been divided into several different cultural entities that, with only a couple of notable exceptions, have somehow been able to coexist alongside one another.

He writes:

"The original North American colonies were settled by people from distinct regions of the British Isles—and from France, the Netherlands, and Spain—each with its own religious, political, and ethnographic traits. For generations, these Euro-American cultures developed in isolation from one another, consolidating their cherished religious and political principles and fundamental values, and expanding across the eastern half of the continent in nearly exclusive settlement bands. Throughout the colonial period and the Early Republic, they saw themselves as competitors—for land, capital, and other settlers—and even as enemies, taking opposing sides in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. There’s never been an America, but rather several Americas—each a distinct nation. There are eleven nations today.

Here's how that all breaks down (thanks to Tufts magazine for permission to run the map):

11 Reasons Why Flu Shots Are More Dangerous Than A Flu

The verdict is out on flu shots. Many medical experts now agree it is more important to protect yourself and your family from the flu vaccine than the flu itself.

Every year the pharmaceutical industry, medical experts and the mainstream media work hard to convince us to get vaccinated against the flu.

But we're not being told the whole story.

What we don't hear, are cases about the adverse reactions or about the toxic chemicals being injected into us.

Every 98 Minutes, A Dog Is Shot By Law Enforcement

Every 98 minutes, a dog is shot by law enforcement.

Officer Fike crushes a dog’s back, throws the dog down a flight of stairs, and shoots the dog to death. Cops cheer “nice!” as they gun down Rosie while she hides in a bush. Officer Squicquero traps a dog in a small room and starves the dog to death. Officer Jones hangs Ricoh and kicks her as she swings on the noose.

SWAT officers tell a woman “We don’t give a fuck about your dog!” as she tries to protect her dog from being shot. Cops execute an 8-month-old pregnant Chihuahua while their state-controlled media mouthpieces claim they were “forced to do it.”

Do a search for “police shoot dog” and you’ll find millions of other cases. Every day, US police are killing the most defenseless members of our families.

Case Dismissed: Sam Donaldson Cleared Of DUI

GEORGETOWN — A Sussex County judge dismissed charges against former ABC political correspondent Sam Donaldson, who last year was arrested in Lewes and charged with driving drunk.

Judge Rosemary Beauregard said the arresting officer’s report was incomplete and a failed sobriety test was improperly administered.

Donaldson appeared Nov. 8 in a nearly empty Sussex County courtroom. The state would call only one witness – arresting officer Katie Couchman of Lewes Police Department.

Event Planned For 150th Anniversary Of The Gettysburg Address

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian James McPherson will serve as keynote speakers at Gettysburg’s Dedication Day ceremony Nov. 19.

President Barack Obama was invited to speak at the ceremony, but the White House confirmed last week that he would not attend, according to a press release issued by Katie Lawhon, spokeswoman for the Gettysburg National Military Park.

Jewell will represent the administration at the event, she said.

This year’s ceremony will commemorate the 150th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address. The address was delivered at the dedication of Soldiers’ National Cemetery on Nov. 19, 1863, nearly five months after the Battle of Gettysburg.

Best Layoff Letter Ever

Dear Employees:

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%.

But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty 'Obama' bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a fairer way to approach this problem. They voted for change......I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

Calls For Impeachment Over Obamacare Deception Begin

Naional Review’s Andrew McCarthy says that deserves to be impeached for the fraud he committed while selling Obamacare.

Barack Obama is guilty of fraud — serial fraud — that is orders of magnitude more serious than frauds the Justice Department routinely prosecutes, and that courts punish harshly. The victims will be out billions of dollars, quite apart from other anxiety and disruption that will befall them.

…The president will not be prosecuted, of course, but that is immaterial. As discussed here before, the remedy for profound presidential corruption is political, not legal. It is impeachment and removal. “High crimes and misdemeanors” — the Constitution’s predicate for impeachment — need not be indictable offenses under the criminal code. “They relate chiefly,” Hamilton explained in Federalist No. 65, “to injuries done immediately to the society itself.” They involve scandalous breaches of the public trust by officials in whom solemn fiduciary duties are reposed — like a president who looks Americans in the eye and declares, repeatedly, that they can keep their health insurance plans . . . even as he studiously orchestrates the regulatory termination of those plans; even as he shifts blame to the insurance companies for his malfeasance — just as he shifted blame to a hapless video producer for his shocking dereliction of duty during the Benghazi massacre.

It is highly unlikely that Barack Obama will ever be impeached. It is certain that he will never again be trusted. Republicans and sensible Democrats take heed: The nation may not have the stomach to remove a charlatan, but the nation knows he is a charlatan. The American people will not think twice about taking out their frustration and mounting anger on those who collaborate in his schemes.

Today's Survey Question 11-11-13

Do you think speed cameras in Salisbury and Wicomico County should be brought to referendum in the next election?

ISLAMISTS 'STAKING CLAIM' WITH MARYLAND 'CULTURAL CENTER'

'The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets'On his visit to a new Turkish-funded mosque in Lanham, Md., Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erodogan said his government chose the site because of its location in “free territory.”

He said when he attended the groundbreaking of the 15-acre, $100 million mega-mosque that the Turkish-American Cultural Center likely will become “the largest and most striking examples of Islamic architecture in the Western hemisphere when finished in 2014.”

But those seemingly innocuous words are alarming to a number of analysts, including former Palestinian operative Walid Shoebat, who says the West doesn’t realize the significance of what Erdogan was saying.

Shoebat said Erdogan’s true mission is to claim the land for Islam, and the evidence is in his words.

“The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers,” Shoebat said, quoting Erdogan.

“The West is unaware that in Islam, a mosque is an embassy and Turkey is acting stealthily, which is why the project is not arousing much alarm,” Shoebat said.

Islam analyst and Atlas Shrugs blogger Pamela Geller agrees. Most Americans don’t know that the plans showcase Turkey’s long-held territorial dream, she said.

“The Turks are trying to restore the glory of the Ottoman period. They may be staking a claim to be the leaders of Sunni Islam worldwide, as they were in the days of the last caliphate,” Geller said.

Clarion Project intelligence analyst Ryan Mauro noted that Turkey’s influence is largely under the radar.

He said Turkey is quietly spreading its influence in the U.S.

A Letter To The Editor: No Vet Appreciation Meals For Vets Day?

So, Joe, I take it that there are NO Veterans Day meals for Vets this year? Every other recent year, there were lists of the supporting restaurants in the area that “returned the favor” for those that went into harm’s way for our country.

Now that the “forever wars” are finally drawing to a close, maybe everyone just wants to forget. Perhaps we’d like to forget the actions of our government in far-off wars, {oh but we could), but let’s not forget the brave men and women that stepped forward to serve IN those wars.

If you see a Vet today, thank him or her, maybe even take them out for a meal. Show them that, though the wars are ending, we, the American People, DO care for our own.

Unemployment Among Black Youth 393% Higher Than National Rate

The black youth unemployment rate for ages 16-19 is 393% higher than the national unemployment rate, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

As of October 2013, the unemployment rate for this demographic was 36.0 percent, an increase over last month’s rate of 35.1 percent. The national unemployment rate currently stands at 7.3 percent.

The unemployment rate is the percentage of people in the labor force who do not have a job. To be in the labor force a person must either have a job or actively sought one in the last four weeks.
