  2. This is scary. How can they hire her to take care of children. If you look at the Judiciary case search there are over 20 cases on there. Theft, bankruptcy, DUI, driving on a suspended license and a few others. That doesn't not include the charges that were listed on the link.

  3. Because that's how it is at DP. they will take any warm body who excepts their substandard pay and funky working conditions. Sad part is, some of the lovely people trapped there end up with the likes of her.

  4. Give me above minimum wage, I have the experience, no felonies, no driving records, and care for folks like those.
    That right there is probably a reason to NOT hire someone, wouldn't want to actually pay for a strong work force.
    These places are appalling, they hire substandard, and what good folks they have become disgusted with the politics and sneaky behind the scenes doctoring of paperwork to increase the income of money.
    I hope the families of all those people being taken care of raise hell and push for a larger investigation.

  6. What makes this even worse is not only is she a habitual criminal... but she didn't (and I doubt still does) have custody of her own DAUGHTER before she even went to jail. So if she can't take care of her own child... why is she being made responsible for the care of other peoples' children? Dove Pointe.. simply amazing how negligent you and your "staff" really are! As long as the funds roll in, who cares about the clients, right? Sad!!!

    A LIBERAL view would find this invasive. A COMPETITOR to Salisbury News would suggest this is invasive because they didn't, haven't and or won't report/publish it.

    I made the call to publish the information that came in because I felt it was important ALL parents be aware of it. While some may not like it, I feel we have provided a necessary service to the community.

  11. Joe, great that you got this out there. I'm quite frankly astonished at how this one got by if, in fact, she was tendered a job offer. A prior comment re: hiring 'warm bodies' is more true than not, but criminal background checks are mandatory for any children's or child care program. So, a warm body with a bad CBC should never be hired under their license.

  15. Here's the sad part about what we do here at Salisbury News.

    You see, it's articles like this or letters to the editor in which every one else is afraid to publish that can give us a bad name.

    Some liberals out there want to take something like this or the Phil Robertson Post I just put up against A&E and say, he's a homophobe or a bad person.

    ANYONE who personally knows me knows I'm not at all a bad person or a homophobe. I simply DISAGREE with that lifestyle. I have gay friends and I don't say that just to act like I'm not what some claim me to be. My oldest friend in the entire world is gay and we've been best friends since 1973, HELLO!

    Many Liberal Gays believe that IF you disagree with them you are racist against them and hate them, NOT TRUE.

    Getting back to the main part of my comments, Salisbury News experiences more local traffic that any other MSM outlet on the Shore. We enjoy that traffic because we are not afraid to tell the TRUTH and put the actual FACTS out there. Pure and simple.

    You want fluff, go to WBOC. You want a small portion of the truth, go to the Daily Times. If you want the TRUTH, you'll come to Salisbury News. That is why I have always said, "You'll either love us or hate us".

    1. You are reporting truths that are public record and on Social Media. These places don't care what comes back on a background check, they can hire @ minimum wage and it's done.
      It the behind the scene things that no one knows about, keep these "Consumers" out all hours of the night when they are tired and asking to go home, when because whatever place they are at demands you keep them out to keep that funding coming in, oh and your getting paid so your expected to shut up and not speak up. So the hiring of felons is just scratching the surface of a BIGGER issue.

  16. This baffles me! Dove Pointe should be deeply researching their employees records and checking backgrounds! This girl has lost nearly every job she has had, including those in other childcare centers. Whether it's documented or not, she is known for being a drug user and abuser, a thief, but most of all, a terrible negligent mother. How does Dove Pointe expect her to take care of other peoples' children, especially those with Special Needs?? This is heartbreaking. She has no type of training to even do such!

  19. WOW! Donnie Hackett doesn't complete background checks? I thought it was mandatory to work with children and when giving patient care. The really sad part of this is that they are not just children but many adults and children with mental disabilities. If I had a family member there I would be all over Donnie Hackett for his lack of concern over the facility. This is how abuse, theft of their items/money occurs with a severe lack of judgement!

    1. 'Client' & 'Consumer' are used everyday to 'describe' the people being cared for in these places. I have been a caretaker, I have also been 'scolded' for calling a person by their names or saying our people. Again they are not "consumers or clients", they are humans.

  26. The only thing SBY News did that concerns me is that they neglected to post the phone number for Dove Point. I will gladly look it up though. It was my understanding many years ago that no daycare facility of any nature could legally hire without a full background check and that any and all applicants with criminal backgrounds were dismissed for consideration. The person who runs this place should be fired for breaking the law.

  28. yes; common sense and the law says background checks are required, however this certainly isn't the first time this has happened.

    let's go down memory lane; many of our own local schools, daycares, eldercares, and many more have missed the mark here.

    so please don't just trash, slam and degrade Dove Pointe. for the most part they do a great job for their clients and have a long history of training and loving the thousands of clients they have served over the years. don't be so harsh with your comments.

    there will always be those employees who are or were disgruntled about something, but I have known many employees who have enjoyed their time working there. I know some of the current employees who have been there Many years and love what they do and their work environment.

    again; I realize this one slipped through the cracks, but for the most part they continue to offer a great service to our community.

    The information posted regarding Amy Lynn Daniels being hired by Dove Pointe is totally inaccurate. She has not been hired by Dove Pointe. For public information criminal background checks and fingerprint checks are completed for applicants for potential employment with the organization.

  33. Dove Pointe is clearly trying to cover this up. They were negligent to provide their clients with upstanding people to care for them & failed to do their actual jobs to do a decent background check on a person before they bring in another "warm body".

I know her history, her mental issues, & even helped care for her daughter when she signed her rights over to a "friend" when she was heading to jail (one of the many times)... anyways, for those saying DP is trying to cover it up (idk for sure).. Amy is a pathelogical liar. she will lie until she is blue in the face. she has mental issues so theres a good chance that she her fb status is a false statement... it wouldnt be the first time. she was pregnant for like 3 yrs straight, stealing sonogram pics off the net and everything. lying about getting a job is nothing compared to the other things she's lied about.

    You are not kidding. The fact that they would even considering this person as a child care assistant to special needs children shows to all what ignoramus' are in charge of that place. It shows total and complete ineptness and worse a complete lack of concern for the children under their care.
    Those who made this decision need to be immediately discharged of their duties since they show so little care in them. Just because a person has disabilities does not mean they do not deserve the best there is to offer this Amy Daniels isn't it. If and when she proves herself then that's another story but her recent record speaks for itself and you people at Dove Point ought to be hanging your heads in shame and you have no one to blame but your selves if people feel this way.

That girl is a pathological liar and trash talking a business based solely on her post is affecting they're reputation. If it's checked into and true that's awful and something needs to be done about the hiring process. But I highly doubt it. I'd take dove points word over hers any day.

  51. 12:57, I don't remember looks being part of the application process for Dove Pointe.
    Is she attractive? Sure. But felony charges, hiring someone to kill your parents, traffic violations, not having your child, and other numerous charges does not in any way make a "good looking" person a good prospect for any job other than those that require dark rooms and poles.

Sadly,most of the jobs caring for the disabled go to "welfare to work" people-those who have been told get a job because your time is up.I was in a State office recently and the person behind the counter had crude tattoos from wrist to elbow....very unprofessional and not acceptable for a business environment.Yes,I have ink but in areas where it can be concealed when I am working.Those group homes where disabled people are cared for almost always employ people who are otherwise "unemployable" -drunks,drug addicts,etc. I would never want a member of my family in such a home.It's a shame that they scrape the bottom of the barrel in employing people to work with vulnerable populations.

  58. I worked for Dove Pointe which was originally Teen-Adult Center. The hiring practice is brutal Backround check, drug testing and a week of inservice training on site. Before you assume visit and watch a person they serve walk for the first time in adaptive equipment after spending their life in a wheel chair. Maybe you think Holly Ctr.is a better option - check it out you will be amazed. I personally know that NO one works with anyone served there until they have a clean backround check and drug test. The State of Maryland does visit and inspect the facility and residential homes. Hope you take the time to visit you will be amazed at the programs and the quality of care.

This story if TRUE is a CLEAR reason why we need to expand to having more types of criminal registries as we have with sex offenders and able to go to these other pages and search the world for certain type of offenders and protect our families from ALL type of criminals and not just box up sex offenders on registries and feel safe as in fact we are not safe and the only way we can be really safe from criminals is to have many types of PUBLIC registries to really be safe and not just safe in one area and be attack from another area.
