Troopers Investigate Two Separate Motorcycle Crashes In Kent and Sussex Counties

Resume:
Kent/Sussex County, DE- The Delaware State Police is currently investigating a pair of separate motorcycle crashes that occurred last evening.

The first incident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. as James E. Dijiacomo was operating a 2009 Chevrolet Impala northbound in the right lane on Coastal Highway (SR1) just south of Cave Neck Road near Milton. John D. W. Vincent was operating a 2011 Honda motorcycle northbound behind the Impala when he struck the rear of the car causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle and onto the shoulder of the roadway. Dijiacomo, who was properly restrained, was able to safely bring his vehicle to a controlled stop on the shoulder. He was not injured in the crash.

John Vincent, who was not wearing a helmet, was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Beebe Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was later cited for Driving Under the Influence of a Combination of Alcohol and Drugs, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, No Motorcycle Endorsement, No Proof of Insurance, No Registration in Possession, No Helmet in Possession.

The second crash occurred just after 10:00 p.m. as Jeffrey D. McWaine Jr. was operating a 1995 Honda CBR600 eastbound on Webbs Lane when a white vehicle traveling westbound turned into McDaniel Drive, Kent Acres Development, in front of him. In an attempt to avoid striking the white vehicle, McWaine applied his brakes and was thrown from the motorcycle onto the pavement. The white vehicle, which was not struck, continued into the development without stopping. McWaine, who was wearing a helmet, was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Kent General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was cited with Driving While Suspended, No Proof of Insurance, and Fictitious or Cancelled Registration. He was later transferred from Kent General to Christiana Medical Center where he is currently admitted.
