Tax Dollars: Bail Outs and Monuments
Or
“Where the libs go to get their dough”

Here’s a newsflash for those Marylanders concerned about government spending. This morning I arrived at my desk on the floor of the House to find an amendment to the Capital Budget Bill (HB-101) which calls for an appropriation of $900,000.00 to “…design, construct, renovate, and equip a facility for the relocation of Delmarva Public Radio…”.

This comes on the heals of an investment of $135 Million of increased Maryland debt to provide for a “library” facility at Salisbury University with over $100 Million of this money in this year’s proposed Capital Budget.

So it goes with Progressives and Liberals, all those who enjoy feeding at the public trough of everyone elses tax dollars. Here we have a radio station that needs public support from its audience and, having failed to receive it (even with a free massive media blitz) they are able to get Del. Norm Conway to pay the tab with taxpayer dollars.

I cannot help but wonder…are there other projects on the lower shore where we could have spent $136 Million this year? We have roads that are crumbling and local governments coming up millions short. We have US Route 113 that could be completed along with overpasses for $105 million…and then what would we do with the other $31 Million? We have school security issues and a plethora of local public projects where this amount of revenue could have been parceled out to the satisfaction of many.

Much of this type of capital shifting in Annapolis remains unknown on the lower shore. No doubt most taxpayers have no idea how much money is “appropriated” for these types of projects. In the day and age of digital electronics and advancing communications technology, we will spend $135 Million for a brick and mortar library on a college campus…after we pay for tearing down the current building that occupies the space. We will appropriate $49 Million for “planning and design” and $52 Million for actual construction…and, of course, we will call it a “jobs project” where we will pay “prevailing wages” to contractors (most not from the shore or Maryland for that matter) as a payoff to the unions who control the Democratic Supermajority in the General Assembly. So to add insult to injury, we will pay 30% more to build these monuments than we would in the private sector.

So it continues in Annapolis with no end in sight.

  1. The liberals say jump and conway says "yeah yeah how high you want me to jump, I'll do whatever you say."
His problem is he is a follower. Always has been always will be.
He never grew up into his own person. Though I believe he voted against the gun stuff he never once stood in solidarity with Del McDermott in speaking out against it and only voted the way he did after the dems figured out they didn't need the votes of those who represent a more conservative district.

    1. No thank you! If we can get both of these libtard incubators off the shore we'd be in great shape.

You ask how we repeal this nonsense. The answer is at the next election in Nov 2014. Conway is way to liberal for the shore and while we are at it we need to rid ourselves 0f Mathias also. They will only vote against the O'Malley when their vote does not count. Ane while we are at it lets not forget our other Lib moron Rudoplh the red nose reindeer Cane.

  8. Exactly-the democratic shore lawmakers sit around and wait and if the liberals on the other side of the Bay Bridge don't need their vote to get an agenda passed then they vote against it making those who are clueless think they are voting for the "will of the people."
This not only spells COWARD but reeks of dishonesty-it's a poor reflection of not only them, but the way they were raised and the values they are passing on to their families and that is why society is the mess it's in.

  9. Aaah, I see, Rudolph the brown nose reindeer. Isn't that him who made his biggest achievement to campaign for the Official Eastern Shore Crabcake?

  10. I am so thankful we have Mike McDermott. He is loud, but lets give him more volumn. Get behind him and support our only representation in Annapolis. Time to send Norman Conway and his worthless somewhere else.

  11. This is where blogs such as this one come in handy and we should be so thankful Joe gives us a chance to become vocal because the liberal media would never allow us.

It's time to start shaming these worthless politicians into either start doing the will of the people and not suck up to special interest or get the hell out and let someone who is for the people hold the office.
Now the politically correct zombies are going to start with the crap like it will hurt their families if people are saying bad things about them but too bad because their policies are hurting our families.
Shame and humiliation is our last hope. Let them know they are not welcome and are not fit to breath the same air as the decent folks on the shore. If they are ostracized enough they will go away.

  12. I'm surprise he didn't get that money for our public schools since the local BOE says they need more money. A radio station over education. Wrong priority.
