BREAKING NEWS: CHIEF HOPPES CONFIRMED TODAY

Mayor James Ireton, Jr., is proud to inform the public that the Salisbury City Council has accepted the nomination of Richard Hoppes as Chief of the Salisbury Fire Department.

  1. What a Joke! He isn't qualified to be a firefighter. Overweight and lazy. Time to Recall the Mayor.

  2. Does anyone know how the vote went?

    ReplyDelete
  3. After approximately 3 years without a real fire chief wasn't the city obligated to do another search for applicants?

    ReplyDelete
  4. This is such BS. Where do we sign the petition for the recall of Ireton, Shields, Mitchell, & Day?????

    ReplyDelete
  5. Is there or isn't there an EEOC investigation going on? If so the prudent thing to do would have been to wait for the outcome of that before confirmation.
It would seem since he never gave authorization for the release of his personal file that something isn't quite kosher with him.

  6. Glad this has finally been resolved. Lets move on.

  7. They had to cut the broadcast because Jimmy needed to throw another hissy on the budget Terri was asking questions on! So, from now on, folks, there will be no need to ask "how the vote went" because it will be 3-2, Shamie, Day, and Bitchell against the better good of the City, and Cohen and Spies voting for. 2.7 years. Got it? Oh, and when Jimmie throws hissies, the cameras will be turned off, because HE owns this city, NOT YOU!

  8. I have been coming here since the barry days i love coming here and watching the libtard political circus of salisbury..a fruitland resident... looking to move south

  9. Unanimous! I can't believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Did they report out a unanimous vote? That seems quite odd. The post says the "council" which would only imply at least a majority.

  11. Oh how dare her ask any questions 5:53.
I'm with you 5:58! I'm a Worcester resident and watching Sby's immature mayor act up is amusing. Someone needs to tell him to grow the hell up.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It doesn't say "unanimous." Could be 3-2, could be 4-1, could be unanimous.

Funny that they didn't specify. Some transparency, Jakie Boy.

Probably kept it quiet to fuel the newspaper against Spies and Cohen, just like Jimmy Boy threatened, while making Jakie Boy look like a uniter, not a divider.

Better be careful, Jakie. If you get too popular like Campbell did, Jimmy will come after you like he did her.

  13. It is great that we have a new Fire Chief, finally. Certainly Mr Hoppes was deserving and qualified after two stints of acting. I expect the trashers on here are not firemen, as most of us are happy with Mayor Ireton's choice. Had it not been for the Council of "No" this decision would have been made months ago. Congratulation Chief

  14. I have read the statement in both of these post on Hoppes today and I have to laugh. It is quite obvious that misinformation is alive and well here. Everything from qualifications to racism and personnel issues of Dodd and Bragg. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when its dead on wrong and twisted you make yourself a fool. Dont take hear say and opinions. Take the time and ask the people in the know within the fire department. I am positive the story is different than what I've read here.

  15. Doesn't matter what you all don't like. Fact is that his resume has just been enhanced which will make him eligible for one of those high paying OC jobs. He won't be in Salisbury very long.

Just get used to looking at the fireboat display. Maybe putting some floodlights on it would make it more of an attraction in the evening will make you feel better.

I'm sorry but Maryland has simply become the Flee State. There's not much left a taxpayer can to do fix it so FLEE!

Most of us? Who gave you the authority to speak for most of us? As far as I know most of us can't stand that fat slob. I have yet to see a petition from most of us saying we want Rick Hoppes as the fire chief. Most of us don't want another Jeff Simpson. Actually I think Jeff Simpson made a better fire chief than Hoppes could ever think about being. Hoppes was close to being sh%& canned by Simpson.

Ireton is a loser just like Hoppes is.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Rick Hoppes will always be known as the fire chief who wasted more tax dollars in the history of the city of Salisbury than any other fire chief.

Jim Ireton just let him buy 3 brand new Ford Explorers for him and his buddies to drive around and tax payers expense. Can someone tell me why the Salisbury Fire Department needs 3 brand new Ford Explorers?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ireton didn't advance Hoppes either of the first two times that he had the chance to. Then, he used the appointment as political fodder, plain and simple. My prediction, Hoppes will soon retire with a BIG FAT retirement for delivering to the political agenda of Ireton. What a guy.

  19. Rick Hoppes is one of the most professional individuals I've known. He's well deserving of the position, he's been carrying the responsibilty for several years. Congrats Rick, and no, I'm not a liberal or city resident. It's about time the city has a permenant Fire Chief and local!!!

  20. 9:37 just nailed it.

Enjoy paying for that fire boat toy for many years to come, you suckers.

Stupid status symbol to protect a few who don't pay taxes.

Hoppes is laughing all the way to the bank.

Ireton screwed his friends, in the department, on the council, in the community.

Salisbury continues to be a laughing stock.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Mayor James Ireton, Jr., is proud to inform the public that he has screwed the taxpayers of Salisbury one more time.

"More to come!" Ireton said with great excitement. "Every hissy fit I throw will cost you plenty. I can't wait for the next meeting to throw my next one."

...and no, I'm not a liberal or city resident....

Since you are not a city resident then you don't have a dog in this fight so go crawl back under your rock. This is a concern for city residents and not you clowns that lie for Hoppes claiming he is such a nice and deserving guy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hoppes doesn't deserve to be fire chief no more than Ireton deserves to be mayor.

If he is such a great professional person then why did he terminate the positions of several good employees. If he is so professional then why did he constantly disrespect the city council members the way he did. If he was such a professional then why are there EEOC complaints and investigations going on with his position of power???

  25. Fake Diploma
    Fake Fire Chief
    Fake Mayor
    Puppet City Council President
Welcome to the City of Salisbury

    ReplyDelete
  26. If anyone wants to know if Mr. Hoppes is a racist please ask the EEOC and other agencies that investigated him and the Salisbury Fire Department. By the way they are still under investigation, but Mr. Mayor doesn't care since it will be tax monies paying for his defense.

The N word and sexual innuendo's are used on a daily basis, just asked some of the ride alongs what they have witnessed.

  27. I'd like to know where all you whiners were on election day when you had a chance to change things.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ireton and Hoppes has cost the tax payers millions of dollars in the past 4 years and some of you clowns are on here claiming he is such a nice guy and deserving of this position.

When I think of Hoppes I think of the $1 Million fire boat the S.S. Hoppes.

  30. I guess Mayor Ireton forgot that Richard Hoppes was part of that bunch from the Salisbury Fire Department that exposed Ireton's arrest on Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and running from the cops. I guess Mayor Ireton forgot that Rick Hoppes was part of that bunch using Salisbury Fire Department emails to send out nasty emails about Ireton's gay lifestyle in order to hijack the election so that Comegys could win. Proves that Jim Ireton has turned on most of his friends and supporters and jumped in bed with the enemy.

  31. He is a bit on the large side , maybe needs to set the example to his people. Push yourself away from the table.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Uneducated people become pawns to the higher ups. We have a city councils with the majority exactly like that. Ireton loves it ,roll your pants up, BS is on it's way.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It was unanimous and about time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Add another clown to the circus of Salisbury. Hoppes is a joke, and not respected by his peers. Ireton is the ringmaster of the stooges than run the city. I am so glad I moved out of Salisbury. Most dysfunctional leadership I have ever seen.

  35. When I see the names Ireton and Hoppes together one thing comes to mind, Tilghman and Webster.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I wasn't for this but we all knew after the election this would be the outcome. He's been holding the temp position for a year and it was obvious O'Ireton wasn't going to nominate anyone else so Hoppes would hold that temp position indefinately. Time to move on, ho-hum. He seemed to me to be the favorite among the firefighters and they are the ones that will have to deal with it. Can't win every battle.

Obviously you haven't been paying attention. As someone posted above Ireton didn't promote Ireton the first few times when he had a chance. You say he seemed to be the favorite among the firefighters? If you had been paying attention you would have known the firefighters voted for someone else when they had a chance to vote on their fire chief. He wasn't wanted then and he isn't wanted now. The only ones that went to the city council chambers to support Hoppes were employees on duty, the twelve new firefighters hired on a temporary grant that want to be hired full time and a few volunteers that wanted to be promoted. Hoppes used and abused his authority to get support.

To borrow a quote from an earlier comment is a fact. "Uneducated people become pawns to the higher ups." And that is the case in this situation.

  39. This quote coming from the fat blogger.

"Rick Hoppes A True Hometown Hero"

LMBO, he was to lazy to fight fire and become a hero. He never saved anyone so what makes him a true hometown hero? He doesn't live in Salisbury he lives near Powellville so what hometown is he referring to? More fluff to make someone sound good. He never went through a promotional process to get promoted to any rank so now he is going to have to keep kissing Ireton's butt. Have fun. ROTFLMBO

How do you know the vote was unanimous? Were you there?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I doubt it was unanimous, but at this point, what difference does it make?

Everyone knows Mitchell, Shields and Day were going to vote for him, so he would be in whether it was 3-2, 4-1 or 5-0.

Can't wait to see the new fire department helicopter, helipad, second fireboat, skyscraper truck, guest house for Dalmatians, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jimbo better go for another tax increase to pay for the fire department upgrades.

It does make a difference. If Cohen and Spies turned the other cheek and decided to vote in favor this time after all the dirt they have on them then I would question their integrity.

  44. Seriously ? The only way he can prove he can be a good cheif is to clean house of his drug dependent employees that have been given several chances to get clean, even rehab! NOT! What a waste of money. The cycle has begun again and these employees are getting paid to save lives and/or use their good judgement on a dailey basis whether they are pencil pushers or not.
