Is Salisbury for Sale?

AVAILABLE After April 2nd
Small City, Population 30,000+
Waterfront Opportunities Available
City Government willing to SUBSIDIZE Real Estate Development
Contact Jake Day
That’s the REAL message that showed up in voters mailboxes yesterday in a mailer from the National Association of Realtors.
When was the last time that a NATIONAL Political Action Committee got involved in a LOCAL race in a city the size of Salisbury?
If you read Salisbury council candidate Jake Day’s “plan” the reason is clear – Day’s “solutions” for Salisbury’s local economy are focused almost exclusively on DOWNTOWN and on SUBSIDIZING RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT.
Is Jake Day channeling the political corpse of the previous Salisbury administration?
  • Developer Reimbursements
  • Failed TIF’s
  • FREE or SUBSIDIZED Capacity Fees
Are Day and his backers hoping that putting a NEW FACE on an OLD PROBLEM will make voters forget that they are still paying for past mistakes and that Jake Day wants the Salisbury taxpayer to DOUBLE DOWN?

  1. Jake Day should hold his head in same for accepting money/funding from out of town/state groups such as the Coastal Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Shame on you because you have been owned by SAPOA!!

  2. To those big Jake Day supporters out there do you think he will be able to fulfill his job as a city council member if elected? If you remember reading the Daily Times on Sunday when he commented about his numerous speeding tickets he blamed it on having to drive 65 miles a day to work each day. If that is the case do you think he will be able to take off every single day there is a work session? Do you think his employer will allow him that much time off. Think about it, that is 130 miles a day which means he is on the road over 2 1/2 hours every day. There are a lot of work sessions and budget work sessions coming up very soon. I doubt seriously he will be able to participate in the work sessions. Work, Court, National Guard duties? How can he make that commitment. It is painfully obvious that Jim Ireton picked Jake Day to be his Rubber Stamper at the night meetings if he can make it. Jake Day is a bad choice. You talk about grid lock, it will always be a 2 to 2 vote because Jake day will rarely be at the meetings. Don't be stupid on this one.

  4. Joe Albero smoked Jim Ireton and Debbie Campbell Smoked Jake Day at last nights CNA Forum. I hope it is shown on PAC 14 and someone captures Jim Ireton's childish "WRONG" sing he put up in front of his water bottle while Debbie and Joe were speaking. How childish and immature is this guy. Speaks volumes of his character and prove he is not the person we want for mayor.

Debbie Campbell got the crowd going when she pulled out Jake Day's "Manifesto" and pointed out how all of his ideas had no solution to who is going to pay for them.

  5. This city is done if Jake Day gets elected over Debbie Campbell. The 10% homeowners left in this town should move out and put their houses up for rent.

  8. It was clear last night at the forum that Debbie Campbell is the one they are after. That's because she is driving the most positive change. We must turn out for her. What council could work with such a childish mayor? Day's plans to spend, spend, spend (and rubber stamp)were also exposed.

  12. Jim Ireton had tons of notes with him that he kept referring to. He also had old yellow newspaper clippings.

Who were the people in the back of the room that Jim kept snickering to and making faces while Debbie and Joe were speaking? How rude and unprofessional. If this is on PAC 14 I hope they captured all of Jim's antics.

Joe Albero and Debbie Campbell were the most professional candidates on the panel.

The other three from District 1. Well that is another story, I think they all forgot to show up.

  14. Joe,

A coworker and I were speaking this morning about city politics as we often do. We are both Albero/Campbell supporters but my coworker mentioned what she perceived to be a flaw in both yours and Debbie's strategy. She indicated no Facebook or website. Neither has ant effect on me but wondering what the thinking is in regard to ignoring these mediums.

    Thanks Joe!

  15. anonymous 8:59, we do have a Facebook page. However, while we have been slacking on the Website, I can only do so much. I would expect our Website to go up by Monday but I felt my time was best spent going door to door meeting people, which is extremely time consuming. There are some 14,000 registered voters and I am going out 7 days a week knocking on doors.

It's easy to put up information that SOUNDS good but I'd rather look you in the eyes, face to face and tell you my intent and platform. I want people to hold me accountable for what I say to you.

Thanks for asking that question. Joe

  16. From Jim Ireton's hate site.

"Joe Albero thinks that a man who tacitly endorses violent fantasies of armed revolt makes a perfectly suitable candidate for Mayor."

First of all Joe doesn't endorse any of the comments posted on his site. Mr. Ireton you are desperate and running scarred. You are grasping for straws.

Second of all this violent fantasies of armed revolt? You are a school teacher are you not? Did you fall asleep during your history lessons? This country became America because of an armed revolt. I am sorry but your pansy Democrat friends are trying their best to disarm America and rewrite the constitution and history. You need to be run out of office and fired as a school teacher.

  17. People who are surprised at Ireton's behavior at the forum will recall Biden's rude antics at his debate with Ryan. If your own ideas aren't sufficient, satirize and demonize your opponent. Steal your opponent's signs. Expect more dirty tricks to follow. For those who do not understand this mindset, read Rules For Radicals. Unfortunately for the democratic party, too many of them now follow the tactics of that book. For them, there are no rules, ethics, morals or laws in their struggle to "fundamentally change America."

    ReplyDelete
  18. It was kind of distressing to see that Jacob Day did not own up to his many speeding violations. Instead of admitting with a promise to change this behavior he passed the buck and made an excuse. This is something a child does. What's even more amazing are those who are writing letters claiming Day is a man of honor and integrity. If those people think someone who makes excuses for their bad behavior and breaking the law is a man with honor and integrity their opinions should only be taken at face value.

  19. Ireton's antics were bizarre. I don't think I've EVER seen anyone behave so disrespectfully and childishly in a political forum. It was as if he wanted to show everyone in his home neighborhood what a total putz he can be.
I think that a lot of people are changing their minds about him and his worth as a mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "Who were the people in the back of the room that Jim kept snickering to and making faces while Debbie and Joe were speaking?"

Chuck Cook, Ireton's campaign guru, and his little sidekick.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm just going to say it, Jim Ireton was extremely rude last night and many of the people there stated they came into the forum thinking they were voting for Jim but changed their minds after hearing m,e speak. They also said they were very upset at the way Jim acted last night. Hopefully it shows on the PAC 14 video.

It was very distracting seeing Jim's cell phone constantly going off and his text messaging, I'll assume Chuck Cook. They were feeding him what to say. Jim, (in many cases) didn't answer the questions asked of us and instead used that time to truly and personally attack Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen.

It is true, at one point Jim Ireton made up an a frame sign with the word WRONG on it when I was speaking, YET he never once took the opportunity to publicly say what I was stating was WRONG.

Jim acted VERY childish last night and if this is what YOU think is the behavior of a good leader, well, vote for Jim Ireton.

    Shanie Shields, too.

  25. I was on the fence about Ireton and Albero, but after last night I'm not. Ireton's had his chance and has blown it.
Just like Barrie Tilghman he's micromanaged and second-guessed his department heads, lied up and down about his record and shown a level of rudeness that Barrie herself barely achieved. We don't miss her and we won't miss him, except to say that they were both terrible disappointments.

Ladies & Gentlemen, I have not had ONE door slammed in my face. I've had 6 people very politely tell me they'll be voting for Jim Ireton, OUT OF MORE THAN 5,000!

Once the PAC 14 video comes out its lights out for Jim Ireton and getting re elected. The people are seeing what he's truly about and they are turned off.

  30. Has anyone substantiated all of the academic claims that Day has made? His website claims that he lives in Salisbury "and can be seen working out every Saturday" there, and yet it has been stated that he lives in Queenstown. Which is the truth? And are all of the accolades on his resume true? We have seen the lies from the LGBT site regarding Ireton--

Jake Day's so called manifesto wasn't his work for Salisbury. All he did was take the "plan" from another community and copied it with Salisbury's information on it. That is what consultants do all the time. They keep "plans" on file and get paid thousands of dollars for very minimal work by Changing the city name and adding a new cover. Jake Day or no candidate has that much time to prepare that many pages of documents while campaigning and working. That manifesto like Jake Day is a fake. He is a fraud that is trying to steal an election.

  39. 11:39 yes there is something stopping someone from contacting schools to confirm. Any Tom Dick or Harry cannot just call some university and "confirm" that someone either attended or attends it. Get real! Day would have to request transcripts and attached to the transcripts are a contact person's name and number to verify.

    Management? None.

    High level decision making? None.

  44. 12:29 People voting for you because you presented yourself fraudulently is unethical. But the burden of vetting a candidate falls on the voter ultimately--and if you are too braindead or lazy to do your research on a candidate then you get what you get. District 2 voters should be regarding Campbell as a fiscal hero--she has a PROVEN record of tirelessly saving the taxpayer money and fighting to keep the tax and spend liberals feet to the fire in the Ireton administration. District 2 you have the future of Salisbury City for owner occupied neighborhoods in your hands. A vote for Day is a vote for the rentrification of your neighborhoods and skyrocketing taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ireton wants Day on the Council for one reason only and that is to do Ireton's bidding. Ireton knows Day has no real experience and will follow everything Ireton tells him to do.

Ask yourself the question, do we the taxpayers really need Day with a PROVEN record of total disregard for the law making laws which we the taxpayers must abide by? The man is a sham, a shell of a person, who wants so much to "be somebody important" for the show/perks of it, he is willing to lie to get ahead. These types of individuals never have anyones best interest at heart except their own.

Debbie Campbell has PROVEN she has the taxpayers interests at heart and deserves to be re-elected.

Ms. Campbell can be observed at any time being professional, polite, and interested in a frank, honest conversation regarding issues and outcomes.

You can't say the same regarding Day and Ireton even in a joke.

  50. Ireton/Day equals Salisbury's shame and destruction.

I notice that in these lasts days of the election, both Ireton and Day have being slinging a great deal of mud.

They have nothing to stand for, so they both start mass attacks.

After watching Ireton's performance, I have to wonder if he is actually healthy enough to hold office of for that matter teach young impressionable children with his demonstrated behavior. If he is an example of a professional adult, I shudder to think what would happen to this city.

It is time for him to go, and mostly certainly for the taxpayer who is paying the heavy freight it is time to keep Debbie Campbell.

12:23pm has it correct concerning Day and he has proven record of not following the law. Another case for Salisbury do as I say not as I do.

  51. Ireton is also schmoozing with the same slugs that sent out serial e-mails, I got one, that made the claims of Ireton's sexual preference before his election in 2009.

At that time I already knew Jim was gay and didn't care, I suported him then, still don't care about his sexual preference, I just lost faith in him as a sincere honest person!

That's all that's changed in my mind. He lacks integrity seriously.

  53. Ms. Campbell has demonstrated her passion, focus, commitment, hard work, and dedication to EVERY citizen of Salisbury. She has a PROVEN record to stand on.

It is unbelieveable that a professed professional, a mayor for goodness sakes, would treat and attack Ms. Campbell the way this mayor is doing. He is shameless and his behavioral antics are alarming.

Ms. Campbell is doing her job which she was elected to uphold. I can't say the same of the mayor.

I understand during any type of election tensions run high. However this particular race has been very mean-spirited and riddled with lies coming from the mayor's camp.

I feel the mayor thinks most of the taxpayers are stupid and don't care so he can say and do whatever he wants to get his way. This is very wrong.

The bottom line is simple, do you want someone who will tell you the truth, or do you want a yes person?

If you want a fighting chance to keep your homes that your children grew up in, you struggled most of your life to own, I encourage you to vote for Debbie Campbell. On the other hand, if you want your neighborhoods to be filled to overflowing with rental properties where you are constantly looking over your shoulder, or the noise is so bad you can't sleep then your vote will go to the rental assoication waiting to take your property and give you nothing for it which Day represents.

May the good Lord impart to each of you wisdom to make the right choice for yourself and family.

WAKE UP CALL PEOPLE....ask yourself the question, when you have someone like Debbie Campbell sitting on the Council saving you money, and protecting the citizens of Salisbury why in the name of good heaven wouldn't you want to keep a real work horse? There is something wrong here..Any business person will tell you that's the kind of employee they want; someone working for the people, and the boss. Yet Ireton is so jealous of her he can't stand it. She finds things he as the mayor should have found and should have figured out how to do. He wants her gone so he can ram-rod his deals with no one thinking or looking into it for the people's protection. Ireton must go and for all our sakes Debbie Campbell must be voted back to the Council. I know I want someone who is trustworthy and honest working FOR me and not AGAINST me.

Vote Joe Albero and Debbie Campbell on April 2, 2013.

  56. Hey folks, lets think about this... why would the local and national associations of realtors want to endorse Jake Day? Why would they spend the dollars that every realtor pays in dues to support Jake Day in Salisbury Maryland? As a realtor, property owner, businessman, and resident, let me tell you. The property values in the Salisbury area are in distress. Because of this - as many of you noted - you would rather rent your house than sell it. This concerns NAR (National Association of Realtors) why? Because they are dependent on people becoming realtors to get their fee's! Less homes being sold > less realtors > less NAR fees. The way Salisbury has been run - with the anti-business antics - directly relates to home values and all facets of the economy. So, bringing this into relevance of this post - if you think for one second that Ireton and Day are in bed together with their views of Salisbury/Downtown/Rental Homes/Etc., you are dead wrong. Those who suggested to rent their house instead of sell - go ahead. Try it. Ive done it with 50 properties, and it is a pain. The city puts you thru so many hurdles. Jake Day has been endorsed by NAR – mind you without putting any effort into getting endorsed – because of the stigma associated with our council and Debbie Campbell in particular. True or not, regardless or your opinion, the general populous believes that the Salisbury Council is a ‘split-decision council’, and are very difficult to make any progress with on any items. Those of you that support Debbie – have you ever tried to work with her? If you did, let me guess – she will get back to you. And didn’t. Last thought – Debbie Campbell had the Thrift Travel Inn demolished at the cost of the bank not the tax payer. I would bet she couldn’t tell you the contact point at the bank, or the name of the bank. Why? Because that deal was set up for the council, all she did was vote on the no-brainer. I support Jake Day and Joe Albero. You will see Jake Day and Joe Albero signs at my place of business. Salisbury needs change. Jake and Joe will get along just fine, and you folks better start accepting that reality. It’s going to happen.

  58. 6:00 p.m. Reality is that as rental "stock" increases in the city the property values will plummet even further-your precious NAR will be generate less and less revenue. Ever ask yourself why SAPOA supports Ireton And Jake Day? Thats the question you SHOULD be thinking about.

  60. Could it be the realtor does get what he wants from the council, so he smears Ms. Campbell? Sounds more like he wants more control taking over property than anything else. As far as Thrift Travel Inn, the taxpayers should never have to pay to have it torn down in the first place. Was this another piece of property up for grabs at the taxpayers expense?

  61. This is really quite simple.
If you want higher property taxes, more blight, inattentive leadership...

If you want to rubber stamp the current State and Federal regimes in the process of dismantling the United States, Vote for Jake.

    Simple.
