SHOULD BOYS BE ADDED TO THE EASY-BAKE OVEN COMMERCIALS? THIS ONE THINKS SO

McKenna Pope claims that her 4-year-old brother loves to cook and he wants an Easy-Bake Oven for Christmas (he also wants a dinosaur). However, the company that makes Easy-Bake Ovens appears to be marketing their toy ovens only to girls. McKenna claims that the marketing is making the young boy feel bad about his desire to become a chef.

Male role models for young chefs are everywhere. Chef Gordon Ramsay has a handful of shows on the Fox Network, Bravo’s Top Chef is of full talented men (and women), and the Food Network– an entire channel devoted to cooking – has a long history of promoting men who cook.

So, the 13-year-old New Jersey girl is petitioning Hasbro Toys to change the marketing of its iconic the Easy-Bake Oven.

  1. Yeah they should. This isn't the 50's anymore. I used one of those oven once when I was a kid. It was fun. Maybe I could cook better if I used it more. lol

  4. Hell, git the little feller a barbie doll and some tinkerbell undies to. Boys are boys and girls are girls whether its the 1950's or the 2010's. I guess at least in the 2010's him and his domestic partner can both where a apron in the kithen making each other cupcakes.

  5. I'll lay the PC blame on her parents and/or teachers for exemplifying the really important issues in life.
Fortunately, her petition's on Change.org, so she should be able to garner the same signatures as Ireton & Co. from the fans.

  9. Some of you neanderthals never heard of a male chef? You have got some serious insecurities about sexuality.

  12. What in the heck is so wrong with kids/people that for every little thing they feel "left out!"
Stupid kids/people need to get some confindence and quit worrying about feeling left out. Poor parenting is to blame for this.
