Neighbors Not Being Neighborly

Jeremy Gordy has been known to be a nuisance to his neighborhood and community with numerous calls to the City for a multitude of violations. A few weeks ago neighbors called about trash being stored on his property and when the City came out AGAIN to inspect the situation, they felt that considering it was on a trailer, it would soon find its way to the Dump. NOT!

A letter was sent out to Mr. Gordy asking him to remove the trash but nothing has come of it. What's your feelings on neighbors who violate the City's Codes? Have you had success dealing with the City to have the situation corrected in a timely manor? Do you think leaders lead by example?

  1. Hey Joe, lets see some pitures of your property!

  2. Go ahead Joe...show them.
BTW, Joe's property is beautiful and an animal haven! There certainly isn't any trash piled up next to his house! And I know because I drive by it every week to get to my mom's.

  3. I cannot understand why someone, (i.e. anon 8:23), all they want to do is slam Joe...apparently he irritates you. Why do you read the blog? Spend your time doing your community service and make your little life easier. And keep those of us who ARE interested in the true news of the area from having to read your drivel.

  6. this proves it is who you are or who you know. the average person would be fined $100 a day afterthe one week deadline set by the city / council

  9. Codes were established because there was a problem with these issues at some point and the code allows the cities to take action.
Living in Pocomoke and watching their code enforcement is absolutley the most ridiculous thing anyone who is paying attention can watch.
Pocomoke's building inspector has no qualifications that make him qualified for the job. When the new mayor was elected they hired a retired structural engineer part time to help him.
Their plan is to go block by block, house to house and determine whether it is safe. They are telling owner occupied homeowners that they want to come inside and inspect their homes!
Needless to say this isn't going over very well.
This is supposed to make it fair to the slumlords who would be shut down in a second, if just basic HUD standards were employed.
But friends of Boss Hogg are immune to such scrutiny, so only the ones who piss off the Boss are cited for violations.
Only after two years of publicly exposing Councilman Cane and his love of junk cars were his more than two dozen junkers removed.

  14. I don't like neighbors who violate city codes. I have some slovenly neighbors also and it is very disgusting. I have found that as the older folks die and this younger generation moves in is where alot of the "I don't care" attitude comes from. And believe me, they don't care what the heck the yard looks like.

  15. The NEWS part wasn't the trash, it was the fact that most of us would have been forced to dispose of the debris or be fined. The NEWS was that, because this guy thinks he's somebody he doesn't have to abide by the same rules as the rest of us.
Why must you resort to name calling?

  16. If you don't want Joe taking pics of your house and putting them on the blog, don't make your house a target! Don't have a dozen code violations that he can point out to the world. And don't climb your way to the top by nepotism if you can't do it on your own.

  17. Anon 244,

It is none of your business or stalker Joe's whats in my yard. Worry about your own affairs and stop stalking people. When is your perjury trial Joe?

  19. 5:16 pm--IT IS MY BUSINESS, and all others who live anywhere near you, if you don't clean the mess up. I have friends who have been given citations for less. But I do apologize for the other part of my remark. It was out of line.

  20. If someone doesn't want people looking and their yard and taking pictures, they ought to try something new and different like cleaning it up and keeping it that way.

  22. leave Jeremy alone.... this is his house.... he doesnt rent it... he has the right to do what ever he pleases with his house and his yard... as you can clearly see the so called "trash" is on a trailer which means (if you people ue your heads) that it is going some where... Why do you all have the right to whine and complain about trash in his yard... its not in your yard or on your property so stop complaining about it... your ridiculous and its pretty sad and amusing that you all have nothing better to do with your time than bash a young adult.... Grow up and get over it....

  23. Just seems to me that someone has a vendetta against Jeremy.. why else would anyone care.. these pictures were posted and the comments made to get people aroused.. stirring things up.. yes its trash.. alot.. that depends.. however its on a trailer and its not parked in the street or probably even close enough for it to bother anyone.. I'm sorry but if I were his neighbor that would do no harm to me.. plain and simple.. just seems that after the ordeal about the fire house promotion people are lining up to throw gas on the fire.. live your life.. let him live his.. I'm sure at some point and time you have done some wrong and just lucky someone wasnt there to point it out..
And yes I know Jeremy been friends with him for years.. and I tell him to hell with it.. let them all hate..

  25. How in the world did you get to be God? I'm not trying to be down on you but you surely are not perfect. 26. Every neighbor needs to call the city authorities several times every day. They should keep it up until the trash is removed and fines levied. Even ten people calling five times a day each will get frustrating. Also, they would be wise to make individual appointments with city officials--tie up at least three hours a day. It will take committed neighbors, but they will win.

  27. Hey speaking of violations take a photo of the old mall parking lot. The grass is getting might tall. If I have a blade that tall in my sidewalk the city leaves a pink slip.

Yes, the city assumed the trash was "going somewhere since it was on a trailer." Wrong assumption. This trailer provides a space for storage of trash; it has gone nowhere. If people are getting notes about grass in sidewalks and grass too tall, I think giving a date for trash removal is reasonable. Since the city has been so patient, how about just one more week's "grace period" and then a fine of $100 a day if the trash has not been removed?

He has the right to whatever he pleases with his house and his yard? What planet are you from? Does everyone have this right or just this one individual?

  32. Isn't it interesting, as you read from top to bottom of the comments you can tell which ones come from his friends or his family, and which ones are authentic?

  33. As a property manager in SBY, I KNOW that the city is anal about handing out their tickets for seemingly minor issues, like grass an inch too high, or a trash can that didn't get moved back onto the property in a timely fashion. Thats why this is so irritating. There should be equal enforcement of the code for all properties, regardless of who owns them. Even for the seemingly minor issues. If everyone has to follow the same stupid rules, at least the rules are enforced equally. Not so here is Salisbarrie.

  34. I'm sure J. Gordo has worked for every thing he has. He has a lot of pride in his home. He has worked hard for it, ulike a lot of people. He hasn't had it handed to him like a lot of other people. Don't let it bother you brother.
