Salisbury Fire Department Delivers

What started out as a great gesture, turned into a Media Photo Op for the SFD. Each Fire Department came to the Washington Street Neighborhood about an hour after they were expected to arrive and started knocking on doors at 8:00 PM. Their ETA was originally supposed to be at 7:00 PM but something delayed their arrival, I don't know what that was.

However, as Fire Fighters were knocking on the same doors another group had just knocked on a few minutes earlier, I was surprised that they weren't on different streets and spread out a whole lot more? Nevertheless, each pack had camera men there taking pictures and it was obvious the Fire Department had called in Channel 16, WBOC to cover their every move as well.

The intention was good, on film it looks great but IMO the effectiveness was horrible and unorganized. Chief See and other higher ranking Officers stood in the School Parking Lot the entire time and never hit the beat. I'm not knocking him, or the Fire Fighters. If they couldn't recognize this was a PR move for the SFD, then they're not too smart.

Like I said, I would have liked to have seen far more people show up to volunteer and even I approached one group and asked, can I help in any way? Can I carry anything for you? Being that they started at 8:00 PM, I don't think they were capable of hitting too many doors but I thank all those people involved trying to make a positive difference within that community.

Let me put my money where my mouth is. If the SFD would like to continue patrolling the streets in any neighborhood attempting to offer smoke detectors, I'd be happy to help in any way they seem fit? This should not be a one hour attempt while flashes go off everywhere, even on me personally. One Fire Fighter thought he could be smart and snap pictures of me being there.

Look, this is NOT The Daily Times where I sell fluff. I saw what I saw. Your intentions were god but this was a Media Ploy to boost the SFD. You know, kind of like bringing roses home to the Wife after you came home the night before with perfume on your neck. Oh, and that BS comment where you exhausted all of the Smoke Detectors you had with you, PLEASE! I was there listening to people answer their doors. Unless you only brought 3 or 4 with you, I'm not buying it.

It was kind of cool watching Fire Fighters get invited into some homes to inspect their smoke detectors already in place. I did speak to several neighbors who were asking what was going on. They were concerned that maybe there was a fire or something. Once I explained what they were doing they were really cool about it.

If it continues tonight, tomorrow night and several nights to follow, then I'll personally believe this was truly intended to help the citizens to better protect their Families. If it was a one knight stand, what a crock. If anyone out there gets a knock on their door this evening or the following, etc., please let me know because accountability is important here, saving lives is critical. I have no problem ever saying I was wrong. In the mean time, I'm not buying it.

Your a lttle baby crying because you didnt get an exclusive.

Most of the time your complaining because of no other real news source is there. Well last night there was 3 other groups there!

    Suck it up Joe!

  2. ROTFLMAO!

I told you it was a Media Fluff Event! 3 of them, eh? Make that 4 because I was there too and I'll get more coverage than any of them. That's right, my audience is now greater than most and that's the whole reason you're pulling together every source you can other than mine to cover your ass. Hey, for $10,000,000.00 you'll do anything, right?

Don't tell me we haven't arrived.

  3. ANONYMOUS=Bet they will not be back there or any other Salisbury Neighborhood for 3 yrs or another tragedy.

  4. Then why didn't you ask to tag along on an inspection party?

  5. How long were you out there? Twenty minutes? They wrapped up aroun 9:45

  6. Actually, I was out there for an hour and a half. You see, I arrived ON TIME and ORGANIZED. As a matter of fact, my readers should appreciate the fact that I did stick it out waiting for you guys to arrive because if it was anyone else, they would have left.

I was there at 6:45 PM. You arrived around 8:00 PM. I got the photos I felt necessary and I left. I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable, so out of respect I went on my way. You were knocking on peoples doors till almost 10:00 PM, NICE! That's one way to scare the sh!t out of the citizens. A knock at your door at almost 10:00 PM and the lights from the Fire Trucks blasting each and every home soas the cameras got good shots. Then a Camera Man standing there from WBOC as if someone just won the Million Dollar Lottery. ROTFLMAO!

Great job guys, you should be very proud. Seriously.

  7. Joe, You are very much entitled to your on opinion here. First let me say I am not trying to offend anyone on here just want to give some facts about last night(After the Fire Program)I along with most of the firefighters felt that this event was very organized. Each station was there and were very well represented. Each station had there own area of the neighborhood that they were responsible for, Each crew leader had the essential tools and paperwork for the job. The residents of that area were very friendly and receptive to us being there and our cause. We checked a lot of smoke detectors and put in a lot of batteries in and gave proper care instructions for the smoke detectors. As far as the time we got there. I am not sure where you were at when equipment started showing up but, I was there in a fire apparatus between 7 and 730 going door to door. As far as the camera crews with every group. That was not the case. There were lots of groups and there was not a camera crew with each of them. As far as the higher ups in the parking lot. They were there for a reason. That was a centralized location for a command post to be set up. The command post was set to help with accountability with the equipment and personnel and to make sure every home was hit in the assigned area. That was also the spot where the extra supplies were kept. I think all and all the event was a great success. The firefighters of SFD did a really good job and the residents for very nice.

  8. It was very sad what happened to the family on Washington St. BUT its also very SAD that this is what it took for the fire dept to such a great thing in the community. I'm not 100% positive but has the fire dept done something like this before?? Where will the next event be held?? oh and why in the world would you be doing it so late? Well Hopefully we will be seeing you guys doing this somewhere else very soon!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yes In answer to your question. the After the Program has been done before. It has been done after numerous fires

  10. Mr. Cook, I'm not going to call you a liar. I'm simply going to say, adjust your watch because you're way off time wise.

As far as being very organized last night. If that was the case, why was almost every group knocking on the same doors that had already been hit? Becaudse you stuck to ONE STREET with all three crews, that's why. I was there, I saw what was going on and the command post, PLEASE! Obviously it didn't work.

As for the camera crews. There was a camera man with each and every group. If you want to call me a liar, then I'll produce photos of each group carrying cameras, so stop the bullshit before I blast you with truth.

There weren't lots of groups, there were three. Shall we all meet again tonight? I'm game if you are.

  11. I think you're right Mr. Albero. If the fire department shows up over the next few days giving out smoke detectors their intentions were for the right reasons. However, if they do not do so, this is damage control at its best because they're not getting donations in their recent drive and they're trying to CYA. They didn't invite you but they invited everyone else in the media? That was pretty stupid of them. Keep your friends close but your enemies even closer. Very poor leadership in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Just curious. Why does it appear that your pictures are taken from a great distance away? Did the crews not allow you to participate?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I have always respectfully kept my distance. Read the story again as I was standing right there with them asking them if they needed any help and or if they wanted me to carry anything for them. I'm NOT saying they weren't respectful towards me, because they were. Was there a tag number on a certain uniform you wanted, since I wasn't close enough to please you? LMAO!

    8:09 AM

How long Joe was there is irrelevant. How long you were is. I think it's great that you guys are out there, checking out/giving out spoke detectors. But, to get there an hour late, and spend 1 hour and 45 minutes on one street when you could have done two is senseless. To bring THREE media outlets with you shows you are going for the photo op.

To the Careers and the Vollies that were out there, gettin' it done, good work. If your heart was in it, you truly have the right intentions and you will be rewarded for it. If you were there for the photo op, or so you could wear your "really cool uniform" and drive your big red truck so you could run the lights and blow the siren, you are truly not FireFighters. You are the ones spouting the N-word, and being malicious sons of bitches to Joe and anyone who has the guts to call you on it.

I have respect for the job you do, but I have no respect for "BACKDRAFT" extra rejects as people.

To the "real" FireFighters, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and that you don't get called out while your kids are opening gifts or you are eating Christmas Dinner.

  16. The fact that these guys are out there with camera crews trying to promote, (we do so much good for the community) proves that he/salisbury news has afected their fundraising drive. I agree, you want to call someone a ni-ger, cut them off till those people who have done so are eliminated. That goes for chief see too. I know he's one of them who uses that word.

  18. Smoke Detector placement and educational programs have been around for a long time - in most all departments in one way or another. Unfortunately, legislation requiring them does not apply to exisitng residences built prior to the laws being enacted. A homeowner must take it upon themselves to equip and maintain smoke detectors so ANY publicity that may trigger someone to check or install them is only positive. The SFD is not unlike any other department, they do what they can to make the public aware of this important safety concern.
If there were 10 news agencies there - so what! The more the word is out there the more likely someone is to hear or see it and their actions may prevent future tragedies with outcomes like that of this past Sunday on Washington Street.

  19. Where was your boy Lt. Larry Dodd (fire inspector) last night Joe? Where was he at yesterday when A/C Gladwell was preparing for the this mission? I’ll answer it for you Joe, hiding like he always does afraid to get his hands dirty or do any work. Oh, I’ve got my kids tonight so I can’t come, yea right likely excuse. I guess if I had kids I could use that excuse to. My point here is the head of inspections and fire safety didn’t participate on once and he’s your boy. Maybe he’s still pissed about not getting promoted. Thanks Booger that’s really helping the community.

  20. Joe,

To answer your question crew started setting up around 7:30. Another thing is there was more than 3 groups knockng on doors there was several on all different streets. You are one man you could not have seen all the appartus spread around. There was at least 8 or more groups out there knocking on doors. There was at least 40 plus fireman out there.

I dont know what people deal is with us trying to help out. What you dont see is during the day time the home inspections the fire dept does.

The reason why it was after dark. More people are home more people can get the benefits of having there smoke detectors checked.

Well like everyone said you have your opinion just like everyone one else.

But when you do need facts just ask!!!

Because that is what we got.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Maybe if you were invited Joe you would have been @ station 1 @ 7:00pm to see just how organized SFD really was. Funny you say how long you were there yet we watched you leave after 10 minutes to never be seen again.

  22. How many pieces did you follow? 16 had engine 16 truck 16 rescue 16, 2 had engine 210, utility 2, air/light 2, 1 had engine 1 and squad 1 all there for a total 8 groups. Each group had an assigned sides of the street and we covered from Washington St to Lincoln Ave, from Jackson St to Shiloh St and all the streets in between. Maybe you should ask AC Gladwell for a copy of the map and if your polite the results that we kept on each house visited for the number of smoke detectors and batteries given. As well as which houses had them, were vacant, or did not answer. Then there are the ones who asked for follow up inspections.

WBOC was with us briefly and then went on, Wayne was covering for his site and Pat was covering for the Daily Times. Wayne and Pat stayed the whole time and Pat was an operator for rescue 16. There was no big media blitz for pats on the backs, this is normally handled by the career division during the day time and I'm sure they will be following up on homes with no answer or requested a return visit.

Just because you have it in for the administration lay off the grunts in the streets.

On a personal note everyone was warm and thankful for us coming in. Yes a few were scared something was wrong but they too thanked us. Here we are trying to have a positive effect from this tragic event on Sunday and you spin it into a challenge and attack on the department. I'll be waiting for your donation of a couple of cases of smoke detectors and batteries to assist in the future programs. I'll thank you in advance for your support. God bless the lost souls and may everyone have Peace this Christmas.

  23. I think were missing the message here. There was a tragedy that happened in this neighborhood, like "Our View" in the news paper said ....'Just like there are lessons in life there are profound lessons in death...profound pain of tragedy can bring a clarity to other situations in life and offer a gut wrenching change of perspective' .....It seems people in general don't realize/acknowledge a potential problem/risk until it is too late. This is the Clarity... We ALL believe we are invincible at times. The'After the Fire'program started a few years back as an effort to try and make a difference,(yes after the fact) people are more aware/accepting of what our message after something of this magnitude. You could always find fault with the program as you could any program. But it was meant in good faith, all who were there last night know this. We are hurting.... the community is hurting .... Please let this issue rest in peace.

  24. So let me get this straight. It's called "after the fire." Why?!? Go out before fires happen and make sure neighborhoods are fire ready. To do it after is laughable. Let's wait till a family dies then tell the neighborhood we care. It just seems backwards to me. Make sweeps in the fall before winter and most house fires start. It was and is very obvious this was simply a media stunt. Like the politicians. Come get footage of me being a great honest person. Let's react instead of being proactive. Great plan. I guess we'll see the "after the fire" plan in affect again after some other family dies. It just feels and looks dirty. Yeah some people will get the point from this, and thats good but i dont get why you do it after the fire?!?!?!

    Engine 161 staffing of 4
    Rescue 16 Staffing of 4
    Truck 16 Staffing of 6

    Engine 1 Staffing of 4
    Squad 1 Staffing of 5

    Engine 210 Staffing of 4
    A/L 2 Staffing of 2
    Util. 2 Staffing of 3

Looks like 7 inspection parties.. You only speak of 3 teams...

for the record only 2 media groups were there WBOC and the DT.. The other camera's you saw were Wayne Barrall from his site and the department's photographer.

You must have negative brain cells. There is all kinds of educational and awareness programs done "before the fire". Unfortunately and incident like this reaches stronger in the minds of those around it and it becomes a very good time to promote the benefits of smoke detectors but it is not just limited to "after the fire". It is not "promotional" in any way other than an avenue to spread the word.

  31. In the very first photo, the guy on the far left, (walking across the lawn) had a camera and the last photo there was a guy from that group sporting a camera as well.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Here, I've added yet another photo, (up top now) of yet ANOTHER guy, (not Wayne) sporting a camera off his hip. Come on guys, cut the crap. There was a guy FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT with each and every group that I personally saw there with a camera.

I don't know why you'd LIE about it but the Salisbury Fire Department is in fact LYING about the fact that each group on the street I was on with them next to the School did in fact have a camera with them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I see Wayne Barrall, who was there for own site, Pat Davis, who is a member of Sta.16 and the guy from WBOC!

Thats it. So what is the big deal. Joe most of the time you are complaining of not enough press. Now the time when in fact you were "out scopped" your pissed off!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nope, not at all pissed off. You lied, you were snagged and you're now tattooed as being liars too.

Within the three groups I was around, besides the camerman from WBOC, there was ONE man in each group with a digital camera. Could have been film cameras, I can't tell. However, don't lie to everyone. You had cameras in each group in the hopes to self promote this event.

Perhaps I should have kept quiet and everyone would have seen a ton of pictures on the SFD Website? Nonetheless, I have no reason to lie. There was a camera, excluding Wayne and WBOC in every group I saw. End of story. Like I said, one of them even took a picture of me. Not that I care, he has every right to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It seems that the SFD waits until after a tragic fire to finally put some time into fire prevention. Our department received many calls prior to fire prevention week from schools and day care centers in the Salisbury area asking if we would come out to talk about fire prevention, since they were told by the SFD that "they did not have time for that". After having the courtesy to ask the SFD if it was ok with them to come in to their district, we were told to "help ourselves, as they did not have time for that".

A lot of kids in Salisbury only see their Firefighters and paramedics when something bad happens. At one of these events I was told by an 8 year old child that "our fireman never come to see us". These children need to know that they can trust their fireman, and that they are there to help them. Perhaps the SFD needs to take some of the 10+ million that they are spending on a new firehouse that will deliver a slower response time to the city, and hire a PR person to see that these kind of things get done.

In our district, we canvas our area door to door each year offering to check and/or install a free smoke detector, or to change the batteries. We get a lot of appreciation from our community, and a lot of self satisfaction for performing this task each year. We know that by doing this, we are giving our citizens their best chance for a safe escape if fire should strike their home.

Fatal fires will never go away, but it is the duty of all firefighters, wether paid or volunteer, to help prevent these tragedies from occuring.

The SFD does a GREAT job of responding to and mitigating the emergencies that they face each day. The problems ARE NOT with the people that ride the apparatus every day. The problems are at the TOP.

I counted 6 cameras, possibly 7 between the pics. I know Wayne was one of them, and since YOU want to count Wayne as a media outlet, I did, too. You got caught in a lie, you got called on it, now you want to piss and moan like the candy-assed firefighter you are.

I hear they're shooting a remake of "BACKDRAFT". Go re-apply for an extras position. You certainly know how to put the uniform on and blow the horn and fire up the siren.

  38. PPL please understand the department does go around and check smoke detectors fairly often. The career division has been doing it for awhile along with some of the volunteers who ride with the career guys. So please dont think this is just a one time deal. Also to anon. 1:57 i am not sure what department your from but I know for a fact that the SFD puts a whole crew to fire prevention at least once a year where they visit schools. So I am not sure what school you were talkin about or when this was.

Look, the point is is that what started out as an educational mission is now being seen and percieved as public relations damage control. I have no problem with the SFD taking pics for their website or to show them involved in the community. I just know if you had knocked on my door at 10pm and scared the shit out of me, I wouldn't want to have a camera of ANY kind shoved in my face.

That said, I know and see the logic at coming at 7pm, as that is after dinner and wouldn't be interrupting too much. But 10PM is a little late. Oh, and one more thing--did you all talk to the guy that has firewood stacked ass-deep and mile high in his porch and either cite him or tell him the dangers of keeping wood like that? My guess is no. Oh, and if you are wondering what I am talking about, maybe Joe could put up the pic I'm talking about.

  40. "Salisbury Fire Department Delivers"

I don't know, what was wrong with the title I put up? Seems pretty positive to me.

Usually the only thing I put up that says exclusive are my Posts about Andy Harris each Monday.

Look, I would have been VERY pleased if I had NOT seen so many cameras and or such a dense concentration on one immediate block. Perhaps there were other teams out there on other streets, I didn't see them and I'm NOT at all saying you or anyone else out there is lying about that.

However, it makes me wonder why Wayne and or WBOC was concentrated to the ONLY three groups I personally saw? Not that it's a big deal, you guys were out doing an honorable thing. To me that was cool and that's why I went there to start with.

However, when an asshole Fire Fighter decided to be a smart ass and started taking pictures of me, I knew at that moment SOME were trying to purposely make me feel uncomfortable.

Again, I put that aside and went up to one team of older gentlemen, (they know who they are) and asked if I could help in any way. They were VERY polite and stated they had everything under control, yet thanked me for the offer.

The other thing that really pissed me off, (while I'm being completely open) was watching 4 to 5 people NOT get off their ass and stand at the command post. Yeah, figures it would take 5 of them to handle the job of one. IMO, they should have been out there with everyone else. This wasn't a fire, this was handing out smoke detectors, come on.

All that being said, I know it's easy to sit on the outside looking in and make remarks. However, these guys do work for the taxpayers, I'm one of them and I have the right to my opinion.

Salisbury Fire Department is not perfect, doesn’t claim to be, and never will be. Our department is nearly 200 strong offering a variety of many talented people both young and old, career and volunteer, both male and female. In the time I’ve read your blog my perception is that you find fault in entirely too many others. Joe, are you perfect? Have you ever received any formal fire/ems training? Have you ever played part in a management team overseeing 200 people? I believe your answer to all the above would be no unless I’m wrong which I highly doubt. What I’m saying is we all do our best and you go and find fault then set behind your computer and throw darts at Chief See and the rest of us out here busting our asses to protect people like you who are not a fireman. Joe, you are not part of any fire department organization therefore you have no business commenting on how SFD conducts business. I strongly encourage you to become part in your local fire company to obtain not only a better understanding of what we do but get out and help the community rather than spout off accusations you know nothing about. In a gracious gesture I would ask you to reframe your comments as you may someday catch the wrong person at the wrong time in the wrong place resulting in some type of altercation. You’ll find most are easy going until you punch the wrong button Joe, and I’ll be the first to tell you I don’t put up with any shit. I was one of the initial firefighters through the front door on Washington St. and are deeply bothered with the outcome of that fire. Think of the little girl who died senselessly along with her family instead of yourself and let this issue go. By you picking on this issue over and over you’re making the hatred toward you far worse. Please let it go!

  46. Way to ignore every point he made and misinterpret one statement as a threat, Joe.

You're painting every firefighter around Delmarva with a broad brush. He's right - one day you're going to show up at a fire scene after one too many of your "behind-the-keyboard" rants, and someone is going to let you know exactly how they feel about you.

...and I can guarantee it doesn't matter if it's just someone simply telling you off - you'll run like a baby straight to the police and a lawyer, playing the poor innocent victim but still poking the hornets nest from the comfort of your easy chair.

You know - I think that's what you want. You want someone to push back just so you can cry and whine and try to justify your attitudes.

You're a bully and a coward, Joe Albero. Any good things you ever do uncover in this area are cancelled out by your blantant prejudice for anything different from yourself.

There weren't lots of groups, there were three. Shall we all meet again tonight? I'm game if you are.

    -----------------------------------
Joe this was organized terrifically and executed perfectly. Your pissed off you weren’t notified to be at station 1 for the kickoff because there you could have seen how organized we were. I guess you would have to be press for that. Sorry.

  52. What a bunch of crap! Just because one isn't a firefighter means they can't have an opinion about their local fire department? You are one stupid man, Steven, and way too cocky for your own good.

Sure one who isn’t a firefighter can have an opinion just not one as unfactually opinionated like Joe’s. Joe has no business making comments as such in reference to the fire department. Joe’s never done the things firemen do so how would he know right from wrong? He can’t decipher without being a firemen it’s that simple. If Joe were to have a few years under his belt as a firemen he would soon change how he thinks. I don’t see any department taking him in as a member though. Maybe chief See will take you under his wing and teach you the ropes.

  53. Sorry Little Antwan, (6:13 PM) I'm a leader, not a follower. Unlike you, you may enjoy getting under Chiefy See's wings but this MAN doesn't fly that route.

    10:01 AM

First and foremost I have no desire to respond to these types of posts and I don't have the time, but thanks for the recognition anyway. Second I am nobody's boy and I only answer to one person. To make inacurate statements about me or my family is wrong. Explain your reason for making this statement? What I do in my private life and with my family is my personal business and not yours. For what ever feelings you have about me is on you. This is a free country and you have that right.

If you want to know what I did then just asking me. My life or my family doesn't revolve around you, but I will be more than glad to have a discussion with you if you get some courage and see me face to face.

We live in a democracy and you have right to your opinion, but I ask you to make positive and accurate statements. Another thing I ask is that you have the decency to sign your name. Anyone that makes a post to flame someone or to attack them without signing their name is nothing more than a spineless invertebrate.

To all the firefighters who participated in this event thank you. Although the After the Fire Program is a standard in the fire department after any fire it is one of the best things we can do for the community. It definitely shows that we care.

I hope every one has a safe and uneventful Christmas Season.

Feel free to contact me at anyime.

    Many thanks,

    Larry W. Dodd

  58. Seems like to me that someone with all this amount of time on their hands would spend it more wisely. Mr. Albero, I would suggest the following:
    (1) Run against the mayor at the next election, with your popularity your a shoe in to win the job.
    (2) Once elected, move your office in with the County Executive for a more uniform control of the city and county.
    (3) Be sure to retract all bad press aimed towards those that work in one state and live in another.
    (4) Appoint yourself as the Fire Chief and Zoo Director as only you can know how to do both jobs effectively (at the same time) by using one swift stroke on a keyboard.
    (5) Fire the police chief and hire your wife to manage these crazy men (and women).
    (6) Sell your downtown building and buy the Daily Times - rename it "The On Time Albero Gazette".
    (7) If at this point Sheriff Mike Lewis is still yuor buddy - hire him to be your personal body guard, you probably will need it.
    (8) When your grandson gets a little older hire him to be the new County Fire Commissioner, he can then appoint Wayne Barrell as his press secretary.
In the spirit of the Christmas season, and in honor of "It's A Wonderful Life" you can name your new town "Alberoville". If your lucky they might make a movie about you, of course Jimmy Stewart is no longer available to play your enemy so you may have to look to someone like Barrie Tilghman.
What a wish list hey ??

  59. On top of all this you have the nerve asking the residence of Salisbury not to make donations to the fire department. I ask you this Joe, would it be possible for the fire department to operate without funding. The answer to this is can you operate without funding? There’s your answer! You can’t operate without funding and the fire department cannot either.

Well then I suggest they start sucking on someone else tit because the taxpayers have had enough.

You people are just pissed off that there's finally a source exposing all the wrongs going on. By the way, you're in Pittsville, STFU. You wouldn't happen to be Alfalfa, are you?

  61. Joe not being a firefighter has no idea what it takes to run a fire company. He doesn’t know what it is to work bingo’s two times a week or to BBQ chicken in order to make a few dollars so we can provide fire protection. That’s right Joe we work hard to provide fire protection for those like yourself who set home warm and snuggly knowing when you call 911 the fire engine or ambulance shows up. A real man would come help out when the siren blows unlike you setting home on you ass.

    ReplyDelete
  62. How can you say a thing like that Joe? Exposing what? What wrong things are going on? Your on the outside looking in Joe. Remember there’s three sides to every story, yours, fire department, and the truth.

    Joe,
You have no business speaking for the taxpayers Joe. Your only one person who happens to know nothing about the fire service. Like Steve said you set behind your computer making slurred remarks about SFD based on what. What factual information do you have to base your comments on? Lay your cards on the table and expose the “wrong” things going on if you know it all. Coward!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Say what you want about what you do for your community Joe, fact is you do nothing. You don’t have balls enough to become a fireman that’s a fact. If you had a set of balls you would accept the challenge but its obvious you don’t have what it takes.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Do the taxpayers pay for your equipment and uniforms? YES! You work for me Mr. Piss Ant, like it or not.

  83. Hey maybe KG can help you out!

    ReplyDelete
  84. This coming from a guy who CLAIMS he's the Fire Chief. What a pussy! I didn't see you on Church Street cleaning up. Instead, you guys ride around on a Fire Truck and one of you fat asses wears a Santa outfit and you believe you're actually important. I'm not exactly knocking the Santa thing. Just the fact that you talk a whole lot of shit. Tom Stevenson could use a whole lot of volunteers cleaning up all around the City. Give him a call and lend a hand and help your neighbors. Oh, that's right, there's not enough photo ops for that, I forgot.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Lets see you could be the fire cheif,LD could be assistant fire cheif and KG can be Deputy cheif!

    ReplyDelete
  86. kenny!I know who this is!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Oh, let me assure you, I'd hire a crew in there that would have things straight so fast none of you would know what hit you.

Again, you keep mentioning this KG individual and I'm clueless as to who you're talking about, but then again, who give a rats ass.

Yes indeedy, I'd have a whole new leadership in there. Oh, would I include LD, you damn site better believe I would. He's smarter than any one of you Idiots and has a whoile lot more experience too. That;s one reason why I personally believe they won't promote him. They're scared of the man because he's smarter than those Idiots See & Gordy.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oh cut the bullshit games. Kenny WHO?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Look, I have beter things to do than play these games with you childish assholes.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Hell I don't like See or Gordy but LD in charge, you will see firefighters get killed in the line of duty because of that moron!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Just as I expected “I’d hire a crew in there”, spoken like a true Joe. After reading the above posts “YOU Joe Albero” are the one being asked to take over the fire department with your vast knowledge of firefighter skills. Not hire someone! Just because Larry has a good education doesn’t make him a good firefighter. He sure has you bluffed.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Wow, you as Chief Joe? And Larry as Ass Chief. That’s too funny. I think it's great how you think you know everything, and you have so much dirt on everyone. I want to see it Joe. Grow some balls and put it out there. All you do is bitch about the mayor and the chiefs of the FD and PD. If you have all this shit on them, put it out there. Get rid of them. Oh that’s right, you don't have shit. You’re clueless. And guess what the tax payers and all the people that you say come to your site know this. People just come here for the FREE entertainment that you provide 24 hours a day 365 days of the year. So a big thank you goes out to you. I certainly appreciate what you do. You are a joke, and your funny as hell. Get a clue man!

Oh by the way. Let me take a second to explain something to you.
    1. In order to be the boss of an employee, don't you need to know how to do the job of that said employee(s).
    2. You claim to be a leader. Ok, show us the way then Joe. Show the fire service what we do wrong.
    3. Larry Dodd didn’t get promoted because he has no clue about the fire ground. The man is scared of fire. The man may be smart. He may have a college education. Good, great, grand. He's still has no clue about the fire ground and how to apply the knowlage to the fire ground. I know
Larry. I know him very well. I like Larry. I think Larry is a smart guy. Just not a very good operational officer for fire ground work that’s all.

As for the other night. We were out there for over 2 hours. Get your facts straight! You would know that if you stay longer than 15 min., everyone did a really good job, and you know what? Our message got out to allot of people. What we did was a good thing Joe and you know it. You just want hits on your site. I understand that. Just in the future hang around and get the whole story. Put up some facts.

My last thing is you said "stop whining" to a fellow firefighter because they said they busted their ass in the cold the other night. Who was the one bitching about not being invited? Wanh Wanh look at all hose cameras up close and i have to be so far away. The big bad Chief did't invite me. It's not fair. Wanh. Want a tissue and ninny. Did you ever stop and think, wait I am sorry you don't think and that is obvious sorry. Lets try this again did it ever occur that...
    1. WBOC was doing a follow up story on this tragedy
    2. Pat was taking pictures for the SFD
    3. Wayne was taking pictures for his web site that hey, guess what. His site does cover news in the fire service. They also do this little thing of posting facts.

Maybe in the future you can get a real press pass and take a good look at the 3 crews listed above work and you might, just might learn how to report news.

So Joe, Have a safe holiday. Stay warm at your computer screen. Don't sit to close though or lick the glass on the screen, and I hope Santa comes and brings you a special little gift. A helmet! You need it. Lol. Seriously have a good holiday and I hope you get your helmet.

  93. BROTHERHOOD MY ASS!

Look how you guys have treated LD! Do tell me, I'm curious, just what did LD do to you?

I have rejected hundreds of comments about LD because you're clueless and going down the wrong path. Now I'm sorry I did. I think it would be unbelievable the pac you've created to go after one innocent man. The mere fact that some of you have admitted to using the "N" Word around LC.

This is not a BROTHERHOOD, this is a group of Wolves going for the kill. You know what guys F/U for doing so. I have NO RESPECT for any of you not standing up against such behavior.

You want to bash me because I believe I could create a better leadership in the Fire Department, go right ahead and do so. Just know that MANY good people are reading these posts and comments and couldn't agree with me more. Get rid of ALL of you Idiots treating people who have served 13 years, all the way up to more than 20+ years in that Fire Department and now you want their throats because my guess would be they're not one of the Good Ol' Boys. The whole group of you are a bunch of pussies not man enough to even wear that uniform.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Who EVER said they use the "N" word around LC?

    WHERE IS YOUR PROOF?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Oh believe me when I tell you, I have plenty of witnesses on that one. Nice try though. If I won't out my sources for the Chiefy of the Police Department and or the Mayor, what makes you think I'd do so here! They're in my hip pocket for when the timing is right, IF I ever feel the need to go there.

    ReplyDelete
  96. "The whole group of you are a bunch of pussies not man enough to even wear that uniform."

    Curious

    ReplyDelete
  99. Well, I guess I have my answer. SFD, your leadership has proven once again that they were in "damage control" mode.

    Curious

    ReplyDelete
  100. Plain and simple - if all the city employees work for you Mr. Albero, then FIRE the ones you don't like and hire who you want to replace them. WOW - can't do that, you know why? because they don't really work FOR YOU. Your ownership of property in the city requires you to pay taxes but that doesn't make you an employer. All your tax money does is give you the right to praise the ones you like and bitch about the ones that you don't and if you continue to pay your taxes you get to keep your property. The real truth is that no City employee really works FOR YOU!

    ReplyDelete
  101. The whole group of you are a bunch of pussies not man enough to even wear that uniform.

    9:39 AM

It's funny Joe. you are always pushing how the firefighters use derogatory language. Look at you fool. Practice what your preach.

On a second note I would really like to know who you would put as your chiefs of the Fire and Police Dept., and who would be Mayor. Let me guess...

    Chief- Capt. Hook
    Dep Chief- Smitty
The lost Boys- firefighter/EMT and Paramedics and police officers
    Police Chief-Peter Pan
    Mayor- Tinkerbell

Joe, you need to lay off the fairy dust over there in Never-Never Land. Think before you post man.

So Joe, do you feel your worthy of wearing that uniform? Who you think is? Why don't you just leave the firefighting, EMS, and police work to the real men and woman out there risking their lives for you and the rest of the public and the news to the real reporters. Lets face it man. If there were any truth to what you put on here, and you had as much Political pull as you state. The Daily Times would be shut down. A formal investigation would be launched against the city from the State and Federal Government. The Fire and Police Chief would be out of a job. The Head of the Zoo would be gone, The City council would be no more. The NAACP would be up the Fire Dept. ass. Think man, Think.

And Anon. 9:28 that was priceless. That was funny as hell.

Oh, Joe by the way. While your off in Never-Never land you forgot to pay your water bill in the real world. You might want to put that on your list of things to do when you come back. Lol.

Seriously I hope you have a great Holiday season and as Anon 9:28 said, I hope you get your helmet too.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Honest to God, I think you truly have to be one of Jerry's Kids, Dee, Dee, Deeee! I pay CITY Taxes, YOU work for ME. What an Idiot!

    ReplyDelete
  103. So let me get this straight. You pay city taxes so I work for you, Do you smoke crack Joe? That's like saying that You pay your power bill so the Employees of Delmarva Power work for you. Man you really do need a helmet. Hey there is a place that can help you it's called Hudson Health center. Congrats on paying your city taxes though but you might want to pay your overdue water bill too. O and By the way until you pay my paycheck you are NOT my boss. Secondly, just because you pay city taxes dose NOT mean you own any city fire truck, turnout gear, police car, trash truck, trash can, zoo animal, or building. Your tax dollars go for the service to be there for you when and if you need it. It's just like your power and phone bill. Your paying for their service. Think man. You don't own a damn person on this planet and nor does anyone work for you. As stated above until you sign my pay check shut the hell up. Now Dee, Dee, Dee that! Your just mad because ANON 4:07, 9:28 are busting your ass and you think they are making you look bad and stupid. While they are doing that somewhat Joe, your doing the job mostly by yourself

So be good and Santa will bring you a brand new shiny helmet for you, and PAY YOUR BILLS like everyone else!
Man that's great Anon 9:28. Good work to you and anon 4:07

  120. Well Mike,

I stated that until the SFD hires someone to come in and TEACH some of the bigots in the SFD how to act around black people, throw out those envelopes and donations and tell the SFD to go straight to hell. Well, as far as I can tell, that's exactly what people are doing. Rather than throwing good money after bad money, people are keeping it and spending it elsewhere as they have no confidence in the SFD any longer and you deserve every ounce of your losses. That means LC wins, and you lose.

Look at that Idiot Fire Chiefy back stepping the other night on PAC14! Debbie Campbell tore the man a new asshole and he came back with hemeroids up the ying yang and a few popped right there on TV! It was the funniest response I've ever seen from a grown man!

  121. Joe is right about City/County/State employees being "employed" by the Taxpayers. I am a city/county/state taxpayer, and I see the Mayor, Council, Fire Chief, Police Chief, and every other Departmet Head as my Employee. They report to the council, the council reports to me. They (the Council and the Deparment Heads) are the stewards of my trust and my money. As a Taxpayer, I have the right to know these things. If the Council and the Mayor are not making sure the Department Heads are doing their jobs correctly, I do what any Employer does--I take Corrective Action. I write letters, I attend the meetings, make phone calls, and so forth. If the Mayor and Council continue to not follow the direction of me, Ms. Taxpayer, I then do what any other Employer would do, I fire them. That, firepeople, is called voting.

NOW, having said that, if I don't like your attitude, I will complain to YOUR department head. If the Department Head does nothing, I continue up the food chain. The Taxpayer is almost always right. You can bust my ass all you want, but Joe is right. YOU are ultimately accountable to ME. Get that through YOUR thick heads. Maybe you are the one who better not be licking the glass, and that maybe you are the one who needs to ask Santa for a nice shiny new helmet, and some polish to go with it.

Oh, and if you want to tell me that if I think I could do a better job, I should get elected and take over or go to Fire School, or whatever other little petty, piss-ant comment your small minds can come up with, as a good Employer, I would find a new and better expert to manage that division of my company. Joe is obviously a smart businessman, smarter than you, as he is like, what, 40 and retired, and you are like 60 and still working and living in the same trailer with your parents.

    ReplyDelete
  130. What does LD get donated? You can't even find him during the day just like the other day when we needed to get more detectors just in case we needed more.JG had to call around to get more!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Hey Joe since you said we ran out of smoke detectors why don't you go to Lowes and buy a box and drop them of at station 16,you know since you are a loaded with money.

    ReplyDelete
  132. And you assholes call yourselves BROTHERS. Thanks once again for proving you're a pack of pussies.

LD gets the majority of smoke detectors donated from local home improvement stores and private donations.

LD ALSO was the one who talked SU into giving up hundreds of thousands of dollars for a new Ladder Truck, A-Hole!

You know something. You guys better stop burning so many bridges because it's coming back and biting you in the ass.

No go try denying the FACTS I just stated. Oh, and for those Idiots who want to point fingers at LD as to where I get my information, TRY AGAIN, Idiots! It's right underneath your noses. ROTFLMAO!

  135. I sure as hell hope there's never a fire at the Albero Compound (and Steak House) - because it doesn't matter how many departments respond...it won't be enough.

If 5 units are there, he'll say there should have been 6. If one firefighter gets injured, he'll say two of them should have. Anything that isn't saved will be blamed on those darned firefighters picking on Joe.

Oh, and god forbid anyone take pictures of the event. Heh. I'd print up a press pass and camp outside.

  136. If there is a fire at his house(since he said to let it burn because all of his valueable are in a safe)I am taking a lawn chair and a pack of marshmallows!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Press Pass!!!!LOL remeber back when(for the ones who had little brothers)Just think of joe going to a fire department call or function and joe banging on the door or rope saying LET ME IN GUYS COME ON LET ME IN!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I hear joe still sucks his thumb at night and when he is scared!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Even if his house were to catch fire the law says you have to put it out and he can't stop you.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Joe has man boobies!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Hey look at joe picture! Is that a microphone or is he happy to see WBOC!

    ReplyDelete
  142. Knowing his instability Joe would set his own house on fire to complain about those who came to help. Years ago I had a home owner attempt to stop us from extinguishing the blaze. He lost, we put out the fire and turned out to be arson.

    ReplyDelete
  143. So just what is it you're trying to imply Fire Chief? My lawyers would love to know, since you are claiming to be the Fire Chief and I could probably trace your IP back to the Fire Department. Wanna push that button?

    ReplyDelete
  144. Go ahead a trace it retard!

    ReplyDelete
  145. Picture this in your head-Joe hiding in the shower sucking his while there is the big bad fireman banging on his door!priceless!!!!
