Kyle Rittenhouse's Lawyer Calls for Maryland Governor to Step Down After Firing Employee for Supporting His Client

The lawyer representing Kyle Rittenhouse is calling for Republican Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to step down after his office fired a member of his staff for supporting the teenager on social media.

Rittenhouse, of course, is the teenager who shot rioters that were attacking him in Kenosha, where heworked as a lifeguard.

As the Gateway Pundit previously reported, on Saturday, Governor Hogan’s office announced the termination of Arthur “Mac” Love IV. Since 2015, he was the deputy director of the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives, which oversees the state’s ethnic and cultural commissions, community service programs and religious outreach.

The Gateway Pundit spoke to Rittenhouse’s lawyer John Pierce, of Pierce Bainbridge, who said that the governor should step down immediately.

  3. Sounds right to me! Supporting a person not convicted of a crime is not a crime. However, punishing a person for giving that support is a crime. Considering who the MD AG is, and his track record, don't look for help from Annapolis.

  8. Hey Larry, What about your employee’s First Amendment rights? Or anybody’s first amendment rights in MD. You should change parties and stop the charade. However, I am happy with with one less MD employee.

  11. State official fired over social media posts speaks out

    BALTIMORE —
A member of Gov. Larry Hogan's administration fired over the weekend over social media posts responded to allegations of support for the teenager accused of fatally shooting protesters in Wisconsin.

Arthur "Mac" Love IV was fired Saturday from his job as deputy director of the Governor's Office of Community Initiatives. Posting as Mac Love on social media, he is alleged to offer support with comments and pictures for 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, of Illinois, who is charged with murder in the shooting of two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Love held a press conference at 5:15 p.m. Monday, saying, he was unfairly fired and there should be due process.

"I'm not asking, nor do I want, my job back. Would you?" Love said. "After everything over the last six years, 72 hours, I just want my life back. I'm an innocent American."

Love recounted how he learned of his firing, saying: "I was informed by the media that I was fired on Saturday by multiple outlets ... so I called the office and had a conversation and I was told I wasn't fired, not to talk to the media. So I didn't. Then, the governor's office, because I was reading it on the TV, told Channel 11 and all these other people and all this stuff and it's not true ... I wasn't fired until 8:38 a.m. Sunday morning. Sunday. We should be responsible for our own actions, but within the government, there should be some consistency across agencies and departments. It shouldn't be a question of if you're a Republican, you get fired, and if you're a Democrat, you keep a job -- or vice versa."

Through his attorney, Love said he does not regret what he posted and that he plans to take legal action.

Others spoke in support of Love's character.

Gary M. Collins, a close Love family friend and spokesman, said in a statement: "Mr. Love believes he was unfairly terminated from his public servant career without the Hogan administration grasping what even occurred. Mr. Love has dedicated his life to public service for unprivileged communities throughout Maryland and the nation. Any claims of racial bias or any sort of hate are categorically unfounded. Mr. Love merely suggested on his private social media account, on his own time, that perhaps the nation should not cast immediate judgment on Kyle Rittenhouse before the court of law renders a decision."

Collins said Love learned of his dismissal through the media hadn't had the opportunity to explain himself.

"It wasn't until countless hours after this so-called story broke that the Hogan administration contacted Mr. Love," Collins said. "Mr. Love is exploring all options to address this matter and looks forward to talking to the media to clear his good name."

In an email sent Saturday to 11 News, Steve McAdams, the executive director of the Governor's Office on Community Initiatives, said, "These divisive images and statements are inconsistent with the mission and core values of the Office of Community Initiatives. Earlier today, I relieved this employee of his duties. Kevin Craft, administrative director of the Governor's Commission on African Affairs, will assume these duties effective immediately."

Gubernatorial spokeswoman Shareese Churchill wrote Saturday: "These posts are obviously totally inappropriate. We fully support the immediate actions taken by Director McAdams to address this matter."

  12. You can't pick and choose how you define Freedom of Speech. This is clearly a violation of Mac Love's Freedom of Speech.

Why is it that only blacks and Democrats never get in trouble for their freedom of speech?? Larry Hogan is a fat lying Sack of $hit and needs to resign from office.
