It's the "DARK IRISH"not the black. But coming from an ITALIAN it's an honest mistake.
ReplyDeleteI wish everyone would watch this. Espically the supposed Irish "Historians" who claim no Irish were slaves went to the Americas.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me. If anyone doesn't know the IRISH were the first slave's. They don't know history and certainly aren't IRISH.
DeleteDeplorable Little Hobbit: do some history lessons on the Irish, years ago in the 1800's the Irish could not even get jobs in this country. they were discriminated against to and yes they were slaves in this country. Some of the poorest of the poor, many were put on ships without choice and sent to this country to live or die, the British did not care. Do some reading on the great potato famine. Cromwell and the Irish. If you were Irish in the Us then you were not treated any better then the blacks were, but you never hear about it. It doesn't fit the today's narrative.
ReplyDeleteMy great grandmother was enslaved and sent to the caribbean as a child. Sold by her father to the English slavers. Bought later by my great grandfather out of slavery. Damn Vikings also sold thousands of Irish into slavery. They can take it out of the books, but it still rests in families oral history. Everyone in my family hates the bloody English.

DeleteWell it wasn't chattel slavery, but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck. The Irish were beaten to death, flogged, branded, raped, whipped. The times were different then, being in Ireland at the time was no treat either. This was 1600's .
ReplyDelete1928 nyc Irish were allowed in public bathrooms and could only drink in Irish one saloons that served homemade booze.. most were born as slaves to the British.

Frankly whatever group of immigrants were newest generally got the short end of the stick until they had settled and assimilated. Most immigrants from that time trace to peasant who were accustomed to hard work. There was no government social safety network in that era. Groups that choose not to assimilate experience more problems, and in some cases cause more problems.
