    1. What a stupid comment 1:17,
"a man who survived Korea wants to walk to his stretcher. Did you read the post? That man is 95 years old, how old are sonny boy? When and if you are lucky enough to live that long you'll probably be pushed around in a wheel chair, bitching at your pusher.

  6. Seen SFD severely fall in professionalism in the last 10 years. They only want money and new equipment to ride around Salisbury / Wicomico County and expect Citizens to give them respect. I would rather have the THREE STOOGES respond if me or my Family need them. If they didn't have an ego they wouldn't wake up in the morning. I do not support SFD with my money. I support two other VOLUNTEER Companies.

  8. Unfortunately this is typical SFD. While concentrating on all the fires (joke implied) and fire response, EMS is pushed out and ridiculed. The City doesnt take EMS seriously, the County doesnt take EMS seriously, therefore those that are performing the service dont. It takes minimal time to realize they dont care for quality EMS. In a quick check, they have 4 Fire Officers per shift plus 2 dep chiefs and admin staff. EMS has one officer, yet that is a solid 65 percent of the calls. At some point in the coming future (3-5years) EMS will finally change and start the process of quality in Wicomico County, including Salisbury. We need one system that manages this responsibly with the needed staffing, otherwise we get the return on investment that we are currently experiencing. Some are worried about Parsosnsburg losing the airport rather than ensuring each call gets a timely and adequate response with quality care. The behavior mentioned above is unacceptable and should not be swept under the rug.

  20. Listen this is because these professionals are not taught how to deal with their patients as people just how to treat injury.
Years ago on the western shore an ambulance was called for my grandfather and one of the emts commented on that's where our retirement is going refering to him being 90yrs and a retired fireman. I learned of this after the fact but I was there at the time and if I heard that it would never have gone unreported to the captain. My heart goes out to you because I was so close to my grandparents and my Grandpip was so proud of being a fireman and gave generously to the fire Department. It still bothers me that people could be so call us.

Amen to that! The paid fire and EMS crews from the Salisbury Fire Department are to lowest of "Professional" from the fire service. They are the scum from the bottom of the barrel. Just look at one of their most recent hires... Tri "Cherry Cheeks" Townsend. The low life volunteer who never really volunteered for anything except running his mouth on Social Media and the blogs. Running his mouth about the surrounding volunteer fire departments. Running his mouth about the career firefighters and Paramedics in Salisbury. What a douche bag!

  30. This happened at 11pm and they were busy?? Ummm... You misspelled *sleeping.

Yep, 11pm and they had been sleeping by at least 4 hours. They go straight to bed after cleaning up after their 5pm dinner at headquarters. Some go straight to the recliners and some go straight to their air-conditioned bunks.

Time to do away with the 24 hour shifts at the fire department. Why do the paid firemen get to sleep all night while our Salisbury Police Officers have to work and stay awake all night long?

Time to go to 3 eight hour shifts a day and make them lazy ass firemen work the entire shift and earn their pay.

You are 100% Correct. Thanks to the leadership of Jeff Simpson, Rick Hoppes and now yours truly, John Tull. These clowns are the reason for the downfall of the once-great Salisbury Fire Department.

Jim Ireton and Jake Day should have hired a professional from a real fire department as the fire chief and not these clowns.

Rick Hoppes hired his own family members and John Tull just hired his own son. Prior to that, they let Darrin Scott hire his own son and his grandson's daddy. Then Darrin gets promoted to Deputy Chief, the second-ranking officer in the Salisbury Fire Department.

  32. That call happened on Old Ocean City Road which is in the County and not the City. Time for Bob Culver to do the right thing and create a Countywide fire department to cove the calls outside the city limits.

    1. County EMS is coming soon to this area. It has been fought, but the ammunition to fight this is running put quickly. Just look at this pandemic, many agencies dont have enough PPE and are re-using it. This is the only County on the Shore struggling this much, not because of volume or population but because a lack of coordination and effort. This dire change is needed and those fighting it will end up being thankful once it arrives.

Yeah but they've got brand new fire engines, a million dollar fire boat, a million dollar Hazmat Truck, a million dollar Ladder Truck(that is never used), 5 brand new $100,000 SUV's for the chief officers and paid fire crews around the clock at all 3 stations.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The Salisbury Fire Department plans on building a brand new fire station near the Delmarva Shorebirds next year on Rt. 50 and a brand new fire station North of the Centre of Salisbury Mall. This all thanks to Bob Culver for paying the Salisbury Fire Department to run calls in the county and allowing Jake Day to annex the county.

I see them in Acme every day of the week as well buying dinner for the whole crew. They've been doing this since way before it was Acme and when it was Giant. They still hide their brand new $1 Million fire truck around the north end of the building so no one will know they are buying food.

How many employers around Salisbury let their employees run to Giant or Acme every day to buy their dinner?? NONE!

Not only do these "Heroes" run out to get their dinner every day they also run around to buy lunch and after they start their shifts in the morning they run to Wawa to buy coffee and a breakfast sandwich.

Not only do they get to run around and buy their 3 meals for the gravy 24 hour shift they get to go back to Wawa numerous times to buy more coffee and snacks.

Not only do they get to run around and buy their 3 meals for the gravy 24-hour shift they get to go to the post office, go to the bank to cash a check, go to an ATM machine, go to the bank to pay their 4x4 Truck payment, they get to go to pick up their paycheck at their part-time employers office, they get to go meet their baby momma to pay their child support, they get to go to their baby's daycare center to pay the tuition, they get to take their 4x4 trucks to the shop to drop off to get worked on..

These "Heroes" have it made, don't they.

  58. All governors, county executives, mayors, and police chiefs have to ensure that professional conduct and demeanor is included in their respective police and fire departments recruit academies and in service training. I'm a retired police officer and its shameful the disrespectful tone one gets when they call into a police station or when talking to officers out on the street. I've experienced it and it burns a hole in my ass. It's uncalled for. This disrespectful and boorish behavior occurs because it's not addressed, and if it's not addressed that means it's condoned. In Salisbury that disrespectful and boorish behavior begins at the top. I've sat back with alarm and disgust as I watched the mayor of Salisbury go after people on Facebook because they dare disagree with something he has done or is planning to do. Never would I think that an elected official would have the time to waste on Facebook to ridicule people. When government employees treat the people whose hard work and income is the basis for these employees even having a job like they are a inconvenience and insignificant, then it may be time for those employees to find another line of work. When public sector employees think they're doing a member of the public a favor by simply doing the job they're paid to do, the vital relationship needed between public safety and the citizens begins to crumble. Public safety employees are not without blame for the lack of respect they receive from members of the community. A popular buzz phrase for reducing crime is "See something, say something." Likewise, for you police officers and firefighters who conduct yourself in a professional manner, thank you. If you see one of your fellow co-workers acting like a dick and treating a member of the public with disdain and disrespect, say something.

As long as Darrin Scott and Jimmy Gladwell, the two uneducated retards are Deputy Chiefs it won't get any better.

As long as Brian Records, Chris O'barski and Rob Framptom are Asst. Chiefs it won't get better.

As long as Jay Jester, Chris Truitt and David Cox are captains it won't get any better. Google David Cox, he is the one that got arrested for impersonating a police officer and Rick Hoppes hired him back. Do you want him in your homes treating your loved ones? Watch who he molests and what he steals when he comes in your homes. He can be found on the judiciary case search as well.

Your department is only as good as the leadership and when you have these a$$ kissing, backstabbing idiot and the paid fire officers the Salisbury Fire Department is DOOMED!! So is patient care.
