McCarthy: ‘Bold, Deregulatory Agenda’ Needed to Bring Back American Manufacturing

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said during a press conference on Monday that a “bold, deregulatory agenda” is needed to bring back American manufacturing.

McCarthy said he spoke with experts and House Republicans about the world’s — and America’s — dependency on China for manufacturing.

He said that congressional leaders should include provisions in a potential phase four coronavirus “recovery legislation” that would work to bring back the American medical supply chain to the United States.

“I want Republicans and Democrats to be very serious about addressing this issue,” McCarthy said.

“And finally, we need to really look to a bold, deregulatory agenda to bring manufacturing to the United States. This would include extensive tax incentives, just ways to escape, to unshackle the regulatory capture because we have to look at it from a different perspective. You can’t just want the supply chain back,” he added.

  1. Please.
    The government lies about everything.

The jobs didn’t leave the US because of regulations. They left because of the cheap labor in Asia plus the cheap oil to transport it.

It was American corporations who off-shored jobs and made $Billions! American labor had peaked by the 1980s and the free trade agreements benefitted those who financed the campaigns. Period.

That is how this Country operates.
That’s what Americans do to other Americans.
Then they brought the goods back to the US and Americans were happy to buy them (at Walmart).

    Right?

  4. The only way to deal with greedy corporations is the stick and carrot approach, use a very big stick and a very small carrot. you`ll never find a big enough carrot to lure them away from their evil greedy ways but you`ll always be able to find a big enough stick to beat their evil greedy ways out of them.

  5. Anyone remember when Walmart proudly displayed"made in the USA "signs everywhere in there store. I want to see that again. I'll gladly pay a little more to keep things made in the USA.

  6. Yes, I do remember. Now I'm ashamed to tell people I shop at walmart. I know it sounds two faced, but they have almost everything and one stop is so much easier than driving all over town to get multiple different items. I would like to see the "Made in U S.A." signs reappear and would pay more to keep manufacturing within our borders and Americans working.
