Coronavirus Cases in Georgia, Florida Continue to Decline Despite Business Openings

In particular, Georgia and Florida, which were projected to see a sharp rise in new cases, have not experienced major new outbreaks in the past week. The average number of new daily cases in Florida declined by 14 percent over the past week, and Georgia’s average new daily cases dropped by 12 percent during the same time period, according to an analysis by Axios.

The data on new cases is imperfect because of variations between states in the amount and frequency of coronavirus testing. As of Wednesday, Florida has confirmed almost 42,000 coronavirus cases, while Georgia has confirmed 35,000 cases.

“Cases [in the U.S.] still continue to expand, and some of that is [due to] the fact that we’re testing more,” former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said Wednesday on NBC’s The Today Show. Gottlieb cautioned that “this is an epidemic that hasn’t run its course nationally, and hasn’t really started to show sustained declines outside of the New York region.”

  1. Amazing isn't it and just look how many "older" folks live in Florida. Amazing just amazing. This virus BS is another story just like the impeachment story. Democrats are so intense on getting Trump out of office they'll go to any lengths.

  2. There are so many ill informed people commenting on this all over. They keep on saying "it's too early to tell" because of things like sometimes it takes 14 days to show symptoms and test results are delayed. First off 14 days is overkill. Almost everyone who will show symptoms does so at around 5 days after exposure. Test results are known within 24 hrs to 5 days. 5 days being the longest and rare.
Also rising number in positive cases is meaningless which anyone who can actually think has figured out. It is the percentage of those who test positive that is what tells anything

Bottom line as usual all the doomsdayers were WRONG as they have been constantly throughout all of this.

  4. The whole of Florida was supposed to die if you listened to the self described "experts." This because they allowed people from NYC and the other epicenters to flock to FL by the 1000's after NY and the other states shut down. Like everywhere else this virus wreaked it's havoc in clusters with anomalies here and there.
Florida is now the model for the intelligent way to handle pandemics if God Forbid it happens again Governor DeSantis focused on nursing homes and not meaningless gestures and lies that were done for political stunts only like Liar coumo in NY

  5. It's utterly amazing when people call who believe they have this, the hospitals say to stay at home and wait it out. Amazing enough the admitted Covid patient numbers go down. It's almost like magic isn't it?

  6. IMPOSSIBLE! The media told me there was a 100% contraction rate with a 100% mortality rate! Simply fake news. Remember, we're all gonna die!

  7. I live in Florida. I been to the hospital twice to visit my spouse who was an out patient - elective surgery; been to 3 restaurants in 1 1/2 weeks; had my air conditioner serviced; been to Costco and BJs several times. Had a dentist appointment last week smart (Social distancing practiced everywhere. No panic. You do have some that want to hide in their homes forever. Every State does. Glad we are called a Model State. We have a great Governor - DeSantis (endorsed by Trump of course). Best wishes to the Eastern Shore - once my home until Hogan and taxes😝
