OCEAN CITY, Md. — Like everywhere else, Ocean City is considering how and when to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Town leaders remain very concerned about lifting current restrictions too soon.
The town remains shut down through April 30, and officials have come up with an ingenious ad campaign designed to remind tourists, "You are still welcome, just not now."
The ad campaign is a friendly reminder of everything tourists love about the resort town. It fuels nostalgia and gives people something to look forward to when the stay-home order is eased or lifted.
Protective measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus have left the shore empty. Only year-round residents are allowed on the beach, and they must practice social distancing.
The boardwalk is bare, too, and the inlet is closed.

Have you noticed that the people who want to extend the shut down still get paychecks or live on government checks while the people who have no cushion just want to work so they can feed their families?
ReplyDeleteThey should be. Travel magazines online have lawyers ads in them already to sue resorts, and other venues if you get sick from the virus. Lawyers are looking ahead for the cash-cow of resorts too stupid to stay closed so they will make them pay!

DeleteThevproblem is we have 2 Americas. One of them is the folks that have government control and are getting paid regardless, along with those either wealthy or well off enough that it really has no disastrous effect on them. I am actually in the latter part of that group, but see 1st hand how blinded they are to the 2nd group. I actually have no Ill will towards them, and admire success, BUT, the second America is the America that CANT wait, that NEEDS to work, that is DESPERATE, to feed their families, that is stuck in a home with 3-4 kids that NEED to get out and burn off that youthful energy. The problem is, ONE Anerica, the ones whom arent effected, CANT see this delimma through the same eyes, as the SECOND group. I have truly have seen most Americans doing their part, but for what? Their still being repressed. There still trying figure how they're gonna feed their loved ones. We MUST NEVER LET PANIC RULE THE DAY!....just saying
