NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES - Dwindling supplies of carbon dioxide from ethanol plants is sparking concern about shortages of beer, soda and seltzer water - essentials for manyquarantined Americans.
Brewers and soft-drink makers use carbon dioxide, or CO2, for carbonation, which gives beer and soda fizz. Ethanol producers are a key provider of CO2 to the food industry, as they capture that gas as a byproduct of ethanol production and sell it in large quantities.

The horror! The humanity!
ReplyDeleteany etoh product makes it's own CO2
ReplyDeleteNow this is really some bad news. I am sure there are many who have managed to hunker in place with the assistance of some adult beverages. How else would anyone be able to tolerate reruns, "classic" sports programs, Biden's "basement chats", Pelosi's tour of her trove of flavored ice cream. and anything involving CNN. This will surely cause outrage.

DeleteHow many decades did we have plenty carbonation before ethanol was invented.
ReplyDeleteThey say keep liquor stores open for the alcohololics. This shit is going to make alcohol dependant people.

ReplyDeleteYes but the brewerys filter the final product through a .3 micron filter that actually removes the CO2. Then they put the CO2 back in at bottling.
I don't think beer lovers have anything to worry about.... CO2 in beer is formed on it's own through the fermentation process.
ReplyDeleteWhy any brewer would need to add CO2? If anyone knows... I can't seem to find any reason why this would hurt beer brewers?
AWWWL , too bad !!!! people will Live !!!!
ReplyDeleteLiquor is quicker to get you where you need. Less calories too!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately beer may not be the only thing that can lose its “fizz”.LOL
ReplyDeleteAin't nuthin worse than a flat beer.
ReplyDelete7:48 AM - When was it that you figure ethanol was "invented?"
ReplyDeleteAin’t nice picking on us Wi Hi grads...
DeleteThe filtering is to remove yeast flockulant and potential bacteria, but it take out the CO2 also.
