House Minority Whip Kathy Szeliga, R-Baltimore-Harford, on Thursday urged action on legislation to help teachers deal with students who consistently display disruptive behavior in school.
“There are students in classrooms across our state who are regularly disruptive to a point where teachers cannot teach and students cannot learn. This isn’t the run-of-the-mill disruptions. We’re not talking about passing notes and chewing gum. We’re talking about arguing, fighting, cussing at teachers, physically and verbally assaulting teachers and other students. Teachers need the tools in the toolbox to take their classrooms back without fear of administration interference,” Szeliga said at a news conference at the Lowe House Office Building in Annapolis accompanied by about a dozen colleagues.
Szeliga spoke in favor of five Republican-sponsored bills that are aimed at addressing disruption in the classroom. They are: the Right to Teach Act, the Good Teacher Protection Act, the Predator Free Schools Act, the Accountability in Education Act, and the Right to Learn Act.

It is simple remove them. Education is not a right it is a privilege. Keep hammering that point home
ReplyDeleteThey remove them, for a hot minute, long enough to tell em “now don’t do that again” and send them right back, giving the belligerent kids the power. The lack of a serious consequence is the same as a reward!
DeleteWe have the same issue in Dorchester county.
ReplyDeleteObviously, Kathy Szeliga, R-Baltimore-Harford is a racist.
ReplyDeleteHow about put a camera in every classroom, halls cafeteria, etc.and in common area of every bathroom (not in stalls) and we may see an improvement in behavior.

ReplyDeleteWhat are yu nuts.the plans working broken familes govrnment funded fatheress generations, no god, no morals, marxist and luciferian idealogy is the core Curriculum. Now you want to impose disipline!!..a lol good luck teaching this generation of narcissist ingrants they are worse then whats descibed above
ReplyDeleteThe only ones we have to blame for this is Obama and Holder. Two educated Hood Rats!!!! What’s going on in school is beyond belief!!! It all started 11 years ago and Trump needs to change what the put in place!!!
ReplyDeleteSo the way its all turning out...is like all that the obarna administration done was done to purposefully destroy the education system.
ReplyDeleteAnd America as we all knew it.
DeleteIf they cause disruption in the classes kick them out....PERIOD
ReplyDeleteCalled discipline, punishment and expulsion. These things have been abandon by the Democrats for decades in MD. There are even Republicans that believe in keeping disruptive students in school. This allows them to indoctrinate more and teach less. People wonder why crime continues to increase. Politians need to start doing their job instead of collecting tax dollars and retirement for doing nothing.
ReplyDeletesay it isnt so
ReplyDelete@433 Indoctrination doesn't become education just because you label it such.

ReplyDeleteThe legislature helped absolutely no one by forcing kids to be in school to age 18. It just mandates two additional years of mischief for those disinclined to study.
The small percentage of 'bad apples' cause disruptions on a repeated basis on their whim. Weed them out.
100% teacher agreed! Just like any program, it doesn’t work if you don’t want to be there and are forced to go.
Delete4:43 Kathy Szliga isn't a racist,by your own comment you are admitting that the trouble is black students, well disruption is disruption no matter what color the student is.You can't make excuses for what everybody sees going on.If they don't want to learn their butts should be kicked out.
ReplyDeleteI think at 4:43 p.m. was being sarcastic. But even Michelle Obama admits that if white people move out of a neighborhood, the neighborhood goes to hell.
Delete""There were no gang fights, there were no territorial battles. Yet one by one, they (whites) packed their bags and they ran from us, And they left communities in shambles.”"
Delete-- Michelle Obama --
I think the comment is sarcasm, because “racist” was the charge that Obama DOJ put on schools that disciplined according to a code of conduct.
DeleteThere are two goals being achieved by the way education is being destroyed. First off any parent who can pull it off (including myself) will be sending their kids to private school. At least there you know their peers parents have an interest in their success and will keep them in line. That is saving government a ton of money that they can use to squander on any number of useless projects.
ReplyDeleteSecondly the kids who can't get out of public school (in it's current state) will likely end up in the court/prison system where the politicians can really start making some money off them.
Support Planned Parenthood!
ReplyDeleteThey eliminate Democrats, one at a time.
White students are held to a higher standard with regards to discipline in schools.
ReplyDeleteNorthwest Woodsman: issue takers to each teacher and allow liberal rules for engagement.
ReplyDeleteI thought we got away from the Obama doctrine ?
ReplyDeleteFire the teachers and principles who won't expel these thugs . Detention, telling the parent(s), suspension and all the other little slaps on the wrists does no good. Kick them out for good!
