Ohio residents vote to dissolve community after secret tax increase
"Free Amelia" PAC founder Ed McCoy said Thursday that Ohio residents' decision to dissolve their village was "bizarre" but warranted.
After 119 years of history, almost 70 percent of the residents of Amelia, Ohio, voted to oust the local government after it secretly passed a 1 percent income tax on all residents and workers. The 5,000 residents who live there will now be split, with half becoming residents of one municipality and the other half becoming residents of another.
Appearing on "Fox & Friends" with host Steve Doocy, McCoy said it was a fly-by-night decision, adding that some residents said they found out about the tax change from a letter in the mail after the decision was already made. The village council approved the tax increase last year, without public input.

Tiny AI Devices Aim to Enrich Farmers and Their Soil
A piece of paper no bigger than a business card could enrich struggling coffee farmers and their soil, a growing challenge as temperatures rise and prices fluctuate.
Enveritas, a U.S. non-profit, signed an agreement with International Business Machines Corp (IBM) on Thursday to pilot the AgroPad, which analyzes soil samples remotely and quickly.
Powered by Artificial Intelligence, the AgroPad can perform a chemical analysis in 10 seconds, reading nitrate or chloride levels from a drop of water or small soil sample, said IBM.

House Judiciary Committee Report: President Can Be Impeached for ‘Motives’ Without Breaking Law
The House Judiciary Committee released a report Saturday in which it argued that a president may be impeached for “illegitimate motives” even if his actions are “legally permissible.”
The 52-page report, written by 20 members of the staff for the Democratic majority, attempts to provide a legal and constitutional basis for the Democrats’ ongoing effort to impeach the president.
The report states: “The question is not whether the President’s conduct could have resulted from permissible motives. It is whether the President’s real reasons, the ones in his mind at the time, were legitimate.”
That novel theory is only one of several questionable features of the report.

Troopers Attempting To Locate Wanted Suspect Dionederik Godwin- Selbyville
Selbyville– The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate 37-year-old Dionederik R. Godwin (photo: 2007) of Bishopville, MD, who is wanted in connection with a domestic related incident in which he displayed a firearm.
The incident occurred on December 7, 2019 at approximately 4:19 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 29000 block of Poplar Court, Hickory Tree Apartments, Selbyville, for a report of a male subject with a gun chasing another male subject. Upon arrival, Troopers learned that Godwin responded to his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend’s residence where he engaged in an argument with her and her 40-year-old boyfriend. Godwin entered the residence when he made contact with the male victim first and began to challenge him, and then proceeded to pull out a handgun. Godwin then proceeded to push his ex-girlfriend and strangle her. The male and female victim were able to exit the residence when Godwin proceeded to chase the male victim while displaying the firearm. Godwin then swung the firearm and subsequently struck the male victim. During this incident, there were five children in the residence ranging from ages 4 to 13. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
Godwin fled the area in a black pickup or SUV style vehicle, possibly a Jeep with NJ registration, prior to police arrival. He currently has active warrants out of Troop 4 for the following:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Strangulation
- Aggravated Menacing
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child (5 counts)
- Offensive Touching (2 counts)
Troopers have been unable to locate Godwin who is presumed to be armed with a handgun. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Dionederik R. Godwin is asked to contact Troop 4, Tpr. J. Smith at 302-856-5850. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware crime stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via the internet at http://www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com

Rasmussen on Drudge Report: 'We don't think Matt is there anymore.'
Rasmussen Reports, the influential polling company, tweeted Saturday their belief that Matt Drudge has sold and is no longer running the titanic news aggregator that bears his name, the Drudge Report.
If the Drudge Report has indeed been sold, this would explain the shift in the site's tone. It would also be a major story, as the Drudge Report is a powerful driver of traffic.

Trump Calls on CNN to Retract 'Totally False' Story About Trump's Use of Personal Cell Phone
CNN has updated its report that President Trump continues to use his personal cell phone to make calls, despite repeated concerns expressed by his staff that such phone calls leave the president vulnerable to surveillance by foreign governments.
In a tweet on Saturday, President Trump called upon "Fake News" CNN to retract the story that he describes as "totally false information and reporting." Trump also tweeted that he hasn't "had a personal cell phone for years" and only uses "government approved and issued phones."

Senators Seek Interview With Ex-DNC Contractor Who Worked With Ukrainians
The Republican chairmen of three Senate committees are seeking records from and interviews with a former DNC contractor and a former Ukrainian diplomatic official to determine whether there was any coordination between the Ukrainian government and Democrats in the 2016 election, an allegation Democrats have dismissed as a conspiracy theory.
Sens. Chuck Grassley, Ron Johnson and Lindsey Graham said Friday that they are requesting the records from Alexandra Chalupa, the former DNC contractor, and Andrii Telizkhenko, a former political officer who worked in the Ukrainian embassy.
The senators said the request is a continuation of Grassley’s inquiry in 2017 about possible coordination between the DNC and Ukrainian embassy to dig up dirt on the Trump campaign and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.
Chalupa met throughout 2016 with Ukrainian embassy officials, and sought to trade information related to Manafort, who worked through 2014 for former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, on Jan. 11, 2017, Politico reported. Telizhenko told Politico he was directed by his bosses to help Chalupa in the effort.

First person charged under Florida 'red flag' law found guilty
The first person to have his guns confiscated under Florida’s 2018 “red flag” law has been found guilty over his refusal to voluntarily surrender the weapons.
Jerron Smith, 33, now faces up to five years in prison after a jury in Broward County rejected his argument that he did not fully understand the new law. The jury returned the verdict Friday after a short trial.
Smith, of Deerfield Beach, was the subject of a risk protection order soon after the law was enacted in response to the Parkland high school mass shooting in February 2018.

Judge Who Ruled Father Of James Younger Has Say In Son’s ‘Transition’ REMOVED From Case After Mother’s Complaint
On Friday evening, Judge Kim Cooks was recused from her role in the case surrounding the custody of alleged “transgender” seven-year-old James Younger.
In October, Judge Cooks ruled Texas father Jeffrey Younger has a say in the boy’s gender “transition,” which is being facilitated by the James’ mother and Younger’s ex-wife, Dr. Anne Georgulas, a pediatrician. Younger is in staunch opposition to the gender transition, contending that his son is a healthy boy and not a girl named “Luna” trapped in a boy’s body.
“The judge who ruled to grant joint conservatorship to the two parents fighting over the ‘gender’ of their seven-year-old son was recused from the case today, at the orders of another judge,” LifeSiteNews reporter Madeleine Jacob said Friday.

Five Times Democrats Didn't Care When Obama Committed Obstruction of Justice
Listening to Democrats make their “case” for impeaching Trump is like watching a child make excuses for why they should be able to stay up late or not have to eat their vegetables. It’s an endless evolving list of explanations and excuses. We’ve seen them allege a quid pro quo, bribery, extortion… basically whatever polled well on a given week. One fairly new angle they’ve been pushing is that the mere pushback against subpoenas is tantamount to obstruction of justice—an impeachable offense.
Professor Jonathan Turley destroyed this argument during his testimony this week before the House Judiciary Committee. “He’s allowed to do that; we have three branches, not two. If you impeach a president, if you make a high crime and misdemeanor out of going to the courts, it is an abuse of power. It’s your abuse of power,” Turley said, referring Congress. “You are doing precisely what you’re criticizing the president for doing.”
Turley also noted, "President Obama withheld evidence from Congress in Fast and Furious, an investigation — or rather moronic program — that led to the death of a federal agent. President Obama gave a sweeping argument that he was not only not going to give evidence to this body but that a court had absolutely no role in determining whether he could withhold the evidence."

‘Fairness for All’ Is Well Intentioned but Inadequate and Misguided
Working to find legislative compromise can be a good thing. But not every bill that calls itself a compromise is a good compromise.
And that, sadly, is the case with the so-called “Fairness for All” legislation introduced Friday.
Over the past several years I’ve been in dialogue with the main scholars and civic leaders promoting and drafting this legislation (including participating in a conference on it at Yale Law School in 2017 and authoring a chapter on the approach—and suggesting a better approach—in a Cambridge University Press book published this year). I have reviewed the 69-page legislative draft over the past several weeks.
Despite the undoubted good will of those who drafted and introduced the legislation, and despite some meaningful though insufficient protections for religious liberty, the bill is not in fact fair for all. Its protections for religious liberty come at the high cost of enshrining a misguided sexual and gender ideology into federal law. This will allow the federal government to use our civil rights laws as a sword to punish citizens who dissent from the reigning sexual orthodoxy. This is certain to create significant harm to the common good, especially for the privacy, safety, and equality of women and girls.
The high costs of the Fairness for All compromise shouldn’t be surprising, because the compromise the bill sought was mis-framed from the beginning.

Brainwashing Kids to Hate: High School Course On White Privilege Offered In New Jersey
A new elective course for high school students in Westfield, New Jersey is being introduced; “Power, Privilege & Imbalance in America.”
Rooted in the Frankfurt school’s marxist-centric “critical race theory,” the class will be “providing curricula that emphasize the role of race in every aspect of American society. Throughout the semester students examine the historical contexts that created the inequalities. Unit topics give voice to groups who have suffered from systemic oppression, and develop theoretical and practical ways for students to deconstruct the power structures.”
Central questions will include: How do we define privilege? How was white supremacy established in American society and in what ways does it continue today? Which social class and ethnic groups benefited the least from the social, economic, cultural, and technological changes in America from colonial times to current day? In what ways has American society been structured to oppress _____________ (insert marginalized group here)?

Six Months at an Amazon Fulfillment Center
Having spent half of a year experiencing firsthand the labyrinthine bowels of an Amazon Fulfillment Center, I must ask:
“What are all the complaints about?”
Employment at Amazon was not perfect. Then again, no job will be. But for those wanting to establish themselves with a job history or get back into the routine of full-time employment, being at Amazon isn’t the torturous ordeal some have described. Coming off a year’s sabbatical and being a technical writer before that, work at an Amazon facility was a shining opportunity to regain some lost footing.
In retrospect, I can’t but be thankful for that. It wasn’t just the financial boon, but also the chance to persevere that elicited and encouraged growth and strength in both physical and mental senses.
Getting hired by Amazon was almost too easily achieved...

Jury acquits New York man who offered $500 bounty to 'anyone who kills' an ICE agent
A jury in Boston acquitted Brandon Ziobrowski, 35, of charges that he used interstate and foreign commerce to transmit a threat, according to Fox News. He faced up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
"It seemed like the right verdict," Ziobrowski said after the ruling Friday. "It's been a horrible year. I'm glad it's over."
U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling, who prosecuted the case, said he respected the jury’s decision but expressed frustration at the outcome of the case.

Lawmakers Map Out Conservative Solutions to End Poverty
Instilling a sense of expectancy, personal capability, and American exceptionalism are keys to lifting individuals out of poverty, two conservative lawmakers said Thursday at a policy forum at The Heritage Foundation’s headquarters on Capitol Hill.
Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., both spoke at Heritage’s 2019 Antipoverty Forum, an annual gathering of researchers, educators, and government staffers and officials organized by the leading think tank.
“The thing that really took me from being a kid, failing out of school, being a son in a single-parent household, being a person mired in poverty, really becoming more, was this notion that it was possible,” Scott said in a keynote address to attendees.
“The one thing my mother never lost was this sense of hope and wonder that this world, this nation, could afford her child opportunity,” he said. “And she was right.”

House passes bill to fight voter ID laws across the United States
The House of Representatives passed a bill to undermine state voter ID laws on Friday by a mostly party-line vote of 228-187.
H.R. 4 — also called the Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2019 — is an effort by House Democrats to restore preclearance provisions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that were thrown out by the Supreme Court in the 2013 ruling on Shelby County v. Holder. It seeks to do this by updating the preclearance formula that the high court rejected.
Only one Republican, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, Penn., voted with Democrats in favor of the measure. The House’s lone independent, Justin Amash, Mich., voted against the bill.

2020 Dems to Attend Forum Hosted by Scandal-Plagued Union
Top Democrat presidential hopefuls will attend a Teamsters candidate forum hosted by union head James Hoffa Jr., despite longstanding allegations of corruption under his leadership.
Hoffa, son of infamous labor leader Jimmy Hoffa, has faced numerous accusations of corruption both internally and from federal investigators since he was first elected general president in 1998. A 2004 investigation of the Chicago Teamsters brought forth allegations of rampant corruption, including mob influence and kickback schemes. Recently, Hoffa confidante and union leader John Coli pleaded guilty to extorting a Chicago film studio, threatening worker strikes if the company refused to make quarterly payments of $25,000.
Despite the union's history, top Democrat presidential candidates are wooing Hoffa for his endorsement. Former vice president Joe Biden, South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D., Minn.) will attend a Saturday forum hosted by the labor leader and live-streamed by the U.K.-based Guardian. According to Hoffa, candidates are expected to "tell Teamsters directly why they are the leader who will effectively push" for pro-union policies.

Trump wants Mexico to stop more illegal immigrants
The Trump administration plans to press Mexico on its campaign to stop illegal immigration across its border and into the United States, including demanding it keep Africans, Indians, and others trying to enter the country.
Officials told us that the administration, pleased with the “Remain in Mexico” policy of keeping Latin Americans seeking U.S. asylum or other immigration status on the other side of the border, wants it broadened to include non-Hispanics.
“We want to expand who’s remaining in Mexico really to anyone from anywhere around the world, as opposed to just the local region of the Western Hemisphere,” Ken Cuccinelli, acting deputy secretary of Homeland Security, said in an interview.
The goal is to broaden the population of immigrants held by Mexico to the growing number of those from other countries trying to sneak across the southern border.

They’re desperate to find the smoking gun that will enable them to impeach him.
And now, we think they’ve finally found it.

Baltimore Teacher, Fed Up with Classroom Coddling and Kids Run Amok, Quits
Educator was told she must 'dim the lights' and have 'lavender scents' on hand to help give unruly kids the right environment
You’d think a story about classroom chaos and behavioral problems among many of the students would come from a high school, maybe a middle school — but not from an elementary school.
But you’d be wrong.
In an effort to improve the Baltimore County Public Schools, Project Baltimore (PB) is working with WBFF Fox 45 — and the PB group is reporting some disturbing issues they’ve been discovering.
The project’s mission is to observe, report on, and try to help remedy problems in Baltimore-area schools.
PB recently reported that a teacher who, after a decade of service, quit a job she loves over what she calls the “chaos” in the classroom and the lack of support she experienced from the administration.

Shocking number of children show signs of smartphone addiction
Recent national surveys project that 53% of children will own a smartphone by age 11. While the reality of a child being able to utilize the features of a smartphone has provided many new benefits to both them and their parents, the harm of unlimited access to smartphone technology on a child’s mental health has many experts worried.
According to a recent systematic review conducted by researchers at King’s College London, roughly one in four children and young people who own a smartphone display what mental health experts call “problematic smartphone usage,” which can be further described as “behaviors linked to smartphone use that resemble features of addiction.”
While many people think of addiction as a behavior driven by things such as drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, the concept of addiction to technology has become a serious reality in recent years, which has caused people to display behavior similar to those with dependence on hard or soft drugs.
In their findings, the researchers sought to identify several different features of addiction to smartphone technology, including specific behaviors such as: “having an intense urge to use your phone,” “feeling panicked if it runs out of battery,” “neglecting other more important things to use it,” “spending more time on it than you first intended to,” “having other people complain about how much someone used their phone,” and “continuing to use it despite knowing how much it affected other areas of your life, including sleep or school work.”

No increase in violence on campuses from legalized campus carry
Though popular belief holds that more guns on college campuses will lead to an uptick in gun violence, several universities have reported no such increase even after their states legalized the carrying of concealed weapons on school grounds.
According to the website of Armed Campuses, a pro-gun-control initiative that tracks firearm policies at universities across the country, seven state legislatures have broadly permitted concealed carry on public university grounds. Five more have instituted limited campus carry regimes. Ten states prohibit campus carry altogether, while the remainder either allow the university to set the policy or else mandate that the guns must be left in locked cars.
The College Fix reached out to multiple public universities in states where campus carry is legal. All of the schools that responded confirmed that they have seen no uptick in violence since their respective policies were put in place.

Free Day Care for Illegal Immigrants’ Kids While Parents Attend Driver’s License Workshops
Democrats don’t realize that their support of illegal immigrants in this country has destroyed their once-strong bond with the American working class.
Illegal immigrants are not “friends” to the working class in America, in my view.
They drive down wages, crowd public schools and hospitals, and bleed entitlements dry.
American taxpayers are paying enough as it is.
It’s absurd to expect them to pay more in order to fund the lifestyle of criminals who got here by sneaking across the border.
Now, in a direct slap to Americans everywhere, we’re learning that the State of New York is offering “free” day care to illegal immigrants so they can attend workshops on how to obtain U.S. driver’s licenses.
