Resident shoots and kills unknown intruder

A Woodbine resident shot and killed a man who was trying to get inside his home in the middle of the night.

The unidentified intruder, who was wearing no shirt or shoes, was reportedly banging on the front door of the residence in the 14000 block of Carriage Mill Road just after 1 a.m., where the resident and his wife were sleeping. The residents repeatedly shouted at the man to leave. As the suspect tried to gain entry, the homeowner fired one shot, striking the man. No one else was home at the time of the incident and no one else was injured.

Police are talking to the homeowners and working to identify the unknown intruder. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

MD Rep. Elijah Cummings reacts to Trump's tweets about freshmen congresswomen

BALTIMORE (WBFF) In Washington, the war of words continued between the President and four freshman Congresswomen.

This morning, President Trump tweeted, "I don't believe the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country. They should apologize to America and Israel for the horrible, hateful things they have said."

Last week, Trump tweeted they should go back from where they came.

Maryland's Congressman Elijah Cummings spoke this morning about the controversy. He said, "We had been constrained to a wading pool in the black community. We tried to integrate as we did march towards that pool over six days.

Ilhan Omar: “This is Not Going to be the Country of White People”

In April Rep. Ilhan Omar delivered a racially charged speech attacking President Trump and his “goons” at an anti-Trump rally in Washington, D.C. We discuss this vile rhetoric on the Todd Starnes Radio Show podcast.

“This is not going to be the country of the xenophobics; this is not going to be the country of white people. this is not going to be the country of the few, this is the country of the many,” Omar said.

There was no condemnation from her fellow Democrats or the Mainstream Media.

“The thing that upsets the occupant of the White House, his goons in the Republican Party, many of our colleagues in the Democratic Party, is that they can’t stand that a refugee, a black woman, an immigrant, a Muslim, shows up in Congress thinking she’s equal to them,” she said.

‘Totally inappropriate’: Gov. Hogan criticizes Trump’s comments on congresswomen

Maryland’s Republican governor strongly criticized President Donald Trump for his recent controversial comments about four freshman congresswomen of color, but he stopped short of using the word “racist.”

In an interview with WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Gov. Larry Hogan said “I thought the comments were terrible and very unbecoming of a president and totally inappropriate.”

Hogan has been critical of Trump in the past and even considered challenging him in a Republican primary in 2020, although he announced in June that he would not make that move.

Trump intensified his attacks on the women at a North Carolina rally Wednesday, putting racial polarization at the center of his call for voters, a move that hasn’t been seen by a presidential candidate since 1968.

Don't Complain About Gas Prices On The Shore

I made a trip to New York this past weekend and saw gas prices on the Jersey Turnpike at $2.91 and thought, gas prices that high in New Jersey, really??? Then we hit New York. The prices you see in white above are for CASH only. Add another ten cents for credit cards. The second picture is from Delaware and frankly I was surprised to see gas that low, ($2.35) a gallon while it's $2.57 in the Salisbury area. Delaware is usually higher. Anyhow, we actually have it pretty good here on the Shore.

JUST IN: House passes bill to raise minimum wage to $15 an hour

The House of Representatives approved the Raise the Wage Act Thursday, which would boost the federal minimum wage for the first time in a decade.

In a 231-199 vote along party lines, the House passed the legislation that would increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour, more than double the current rate of $7.25. In an even more drastic increase, the bill calls for having the same minimum wage for tipped workers, raising it from $2.13 an hour.

A report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted that approximately 30 million people would see higher earnings as a result of the bill, bringing more than one million out of poverty.

"America's workers deserve a raise," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said at a press conference before the vote.

Having Fun At Tawes Crab and Clam Bake

Members of the Wicomico Republican Central Committee, Wicomico County Councilman Larry Dodd and Governor Hogan enjoying the Tawes Crab and Clam Bake.

I am asking you to stand with Ilhan Omar

Sisters and Brothers -
Last night, I was at dinner with Ilhan Omar, her daughter, and some other members of Congress when we heard the news that thousands of people at a Donald Trump rally were chanting "send her back."
To my surprise, Ilhan was pretty unfazed. Sadly, as she told me, she has been dealing with this kind of hatred and racism for a long time.
And she knows, as we do, that Trump is a demagogue doing what he does best: dividing and conquering through hate.
No. Trump won't talk about trying to throw 32 million Americans off their health care. He won't talk about his massive tax breaks for billionaires. He won't talk about his budget which called for huge cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. And he certainly won't talk about how climate change is destroying the planet.
But he will try to divide the country up based on the color of our skin, our religion, where we were born or our sexual orientation.
Brothers and sisters: Now is the time, more than at any other moment in our lifetimes, to say NO to racism, NO to divisiveness, NO to the hatred that Trump is trying to foment.
Ilhan Omar is a leader with strength and courage. She won’t back down to Trump’s racism and hate, and neither will we. So today, I want to ask you to do something important that will help ensure her voice is with us in Congress for a long time to come:
Bernie at dinner with Ilhan Omar
(Ilhan and me at dinner last night shortly after the news came through about the Trump rally)
Ilhan and I have worked together on a number of important issues since she was elected – most recently our effort to cancel all student debt in this country.
She is a critical voice in our fight for justice in America, and I am excited to work with her and other progressives when we are in the White House.
Split a $2.70 contribution between her campaign and ours today:
Thank you for reading, and for supporting our campaigns.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders

Confirmed: Birth Date of Ilhan Omar’s Brother-Husband on Wedding Certificate Matches His School Records

After several years of avoiding the subject — on Tuesday the Minneapolis Star-Tribune published a report on Ilhan Omar, her tax fraud crimes, her illegal use of campaign funds to cover travel costs and touched on her alleged marriage to her younger brother.

Investigative Journalist David Steinberg who has been covering the incredible story for years commented on the report today.

Much of the information has already been reported… by David.

The Star-Tribune reported that the Omar campaign launched a concerted effort to quash details on her marriage to her brother.

Question Of The Day 7-17-19

Which would you rather have extreme heat or extreme cold?

Quote of the Day

“There’s a constant struggle oftentimes with people who have power, about sharing that power. We are not really in the business of asking for the share of that power. We’re in the business of trying to grab that power.” ---Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Somalia)

President Trump Obliterates Ilhan Omar at the White House, Gets Massive Cheers

Speaking from the White House Monday afternoon President Trump blasted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and recommended those who hate America should leave the country.

"I'm watching them and all they do is complain. All I'm saying is if they want to leave they can leave. I mean I look at the one, Omar, I've never met her and the way she talks about Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda has killed many Americans. She said 'you can hold your chest out. When I think of America, huh. When I think of Al Qaeda I can hold my chest out.' She talked about the World Trade Center being knocked down, 'some people' you remember the famous 'some people," Trump said. “These are people who in my opinion hate our country."

“If you’re not happy here, then you can leave. As far as I’m concerned, if you hate our country, if you’re not happy here you can leave. That’s what I say all the time. That’s what I said in a tweet that I guess some people think is controversial. A lot of people love it, by the way. A lot of people love it. But if you’re not happy in the U.S., if you’re complaining all the time, very simply you can leave. You can leave right now. You can come back if you want, don’t come back, that’s ok, too,” he continued.

The black woman who will be the next 007

Since Daniel Craig announced he was standing down as James Bond, debate has raged whether the next 007 should be a woman, or black.

Now The Mail on Sunday can reveal that she will be both – thanks to the intervention of feminist TV writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

In what's been called a 'popcorn-dropping moment', British star Lashana Lynch, will be given Bond's licence to kill in the 25th movie in the franchise, currently being shot in Italy and the UK.

However, traditionalists can relax: she's not the new Bond, but a new character who takes over his secret agent number after he leaves MI6.'

WALSH: The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Is Very Hard To Like. This Video Shows Why.

Let no one claim that the U.S. women's soccer team can't beat men. They have, in fact, already unseated the 2007 New England Patriots as the most unlikable winning sports team in modern American history. This is an extraordinary accomplishment in its own right, as it is very hard to be both unlikable and a winner in America. Winning covers up many sins. Even Michael Vick was forgiven after he had a decent season with the Eagles. We love winners in our culture, but it is truly hard to love these ladies.

I will be told that this apparent unlikability is due to sexism — my sexism, the system's sexism, everyone's sexism, the sexism in the water supply. We have trouble liking the women's soccer team, and celebrating its successes, because they are women and we are misogynists, or so the story will go. But that excuse doesn't hold. Most of the "misogynists" criticizing Megan Rapinoe's squad still love to see American women take gold at the Olympics. It was easy to root for Simone Biles and Lindsey Vonn. But it's not so easy with this particular collection of female athletes.

Surprising claim in food feedback: Dairy guidelines are racist

Several members of the public called the government's dietary guidelines racist for historically endorsing milk, yogurt, and cheese as part of a nutritious diet, and recommended dropping dairy from the new version of the guidelines set to be released next year.

"The vast majority of people of color in this country are intolerant of lactose and yet, because they think they have to eat this stuff, they go out and eat it and get sick," Milton Mills, a physician from Gilead Medical Group in Washington, D.C., said in a public meeting Thursday. "It is outrageous to have a committee that does not reflect the American population."

Mills said he was originally speaking to call out the "racism that is inherent in the U.S. dietary guidelines," but upon seeing the committee lacking any minorities, he understood why it was a problem.

Planned for Sept. 20 between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m., a Facebook event now has roughly 1.3 million people signed up to attend "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us."

Although the event has sparked an array of online memes and jokes about freeing aliens, the Air Force, which oversees the facility located within the Nevada Test and Training Range, is warning that any effort to breach the base is serious business.

Rashida Tlaib says Pelosi's singling out of ‘the squad’ led to death threats

Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib partly blamed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the death threats directed at a group of minority congresswomen.

“The fact of the knowledge is, and I’ve done racial justice work in our country for a long time, acknowledge the fact that we are women of color, so when you do single us out, be aware of that, and what you’re doing. Especially because some of us are getting death threats. Because some of us are being singled out in many ways because of our backgrounds, because of our experiences and so forth,” the Michigan lawmaker said in an interview that aired Wednesday on CBS This Morning.

Pelosi said earlier this month the group of congresswomen, known as “the squad,” had little influence in the House after they voted against a border funding bill.

Goodwill head who makes $164,000 fired disabled workers after minimum wage hike

An Illinois branch of Goodwill faced a barrage of criticism after announcing plans to fire disabled workers and blaming it on the state's rising minimum wage.

Sharon Durbin, president and CEO of Lincoln Goodwill, a Springfield-based organization that runs 15 thrift stores in the state, drew fire from state officials after she told workers employed under a vocational program for people with disabilities that they were losing their jobs. She cited the planned pay hike, which is slated to climb to $15 in 2025, as the reason for the layoffs. As a nonprofit, her organization doesn't pay taxes, collects state funding and has been awarded state contracts. Under federal rules, it also may pay disabled workers significantly less than the minimum wage.

But Durbin was forced to quickly backtrack after a public outcry, with Illinois Deputy Gov. Christian Mitchell tweeting that Goodwill "ought to be ashamed."

Wicomico Hires Law Firms To Fight Opioid Companies

SALISBURY – Officials this week agreed to hire Texas law firms to represent Wicomico County as it takes legal action against opioid manufacturers.

On Tuesday, the Wicomico County Council agreed to hire the law firms of Ferrer, Poirot & Wansbrough and Fears Nachawati as it pursues litigation against opioid manufacturers for their alleged role in the country’s opioid crisis.

Last year, the council opted against joining counties and municipalities across the nation in a lawsuit. Earlier this month, however, the issue was back on the agenda for discussion.

While Sheriff Mike Lewis said litigation would allow the county to hold opioid manufacturers accountable and recoup money that was redirected to address the opioid crisis, Council Attorney Bob Taylor cautioned the council from taking any immediate action. He noted a multi-district case, pending in federal court in Cleveland, could be converted into a class action lawsuit, making it possible for municipalities across the nation to receive some compensation from opioid manufacturers.

Official School Records Support Claims That Ilhan Omar Married Her Brother

Ed. Note: This article was originally published in October 2018.

Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-60B) currently leads the race to fill the federal House seat being vacated by Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN). Immediately after being elected to her current seat in 2016, Omar faced allegations -- soon backed by a remarkable amount of evidence -- that she had married her own brother in 2009, and was still legally his wife. They officially divorced in December 2017.

The motivation for the marriage remains unclear. However, the totality of the evidence points to possible immigration fraud and student loan fraud.

Rep. Omar has stated that she did marry "British citizen" Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, though the allegation that he is her brother is "absurd and offensive.

Wicomico Adopts Honorary Street Naming Policy

SALISBURY – Following months of discussion, officials in Wicomico County this week adopted a new honorary street sign policy and application for county roads.

The Wicomico County Council on Tuesday approved and adopted a new policy and application process for recognizing community leader or groups through honorary street signs.

Officials first initiated a discussion on the benefits of a street naming policy last year, after it was realized the county had no guidelines for dedicating a county road. Occasionally, the county receives requests to recognize individuals, groups or organizations that have made significant contributions to the community

“The council does get requests from time to time to dedicate a road to a certain individual,” Council President John Cannon said last year. “We recognize we really don’t have a policy and we really hate to do it ad hoc because as soon as you make one appointment then you will probably be inundated with two or three more.”
